Ott platforms have not just changed the rules of the entertainment market, they have given, literally, a second life to Bollywood stars who had faded away from the public eye for quite some time. Of late, a number of senior actors, who had virtually retired from the industry or had limited theatrical releases, are now being reinvented and getting a hugely positive response to their work, courtesy of streaming platforms.
Here’s a list of nine actors who are back in the reckoning in their second innings because of Ott:
Harman Baweja
The actor made his debut with the 2008 release “Love Story 2050”, directed by his father Harry Baweja, and charmed the audience with his dancing skills (and little else!), but he was dismissed by all as the poor man’s Hrithik Roshan.
Hansal Mehta’s streaming series “Scoop”, which sees a no-longer-chocolate-boy Harman back in action as Joint Commissioner...

Back in the days when technology was not as advanced as today, Veeru Devgan choreographed some of the most interesting action sequences for Bollywood, making his actors' and stuntmen's safety top priority.
The Hindi film fraternity remembered all this and more about the veteran, who died here on Monday at the age of 85.
Remembering Veeru as a responsible director, actress Madhuri Dixit Nene told Ians: "He was such a caring action director who used to encourage us, but at the same time was very cautious about our safety. When he choreographed an action scene, he kept safety in mind. He was such a wonderful human being."
Actor-director Satish Kaushik, who had worked with him as an actor and director, was emotional after he returned from the funeral of his "Veeru paaji".
"He was such a gentleman. He was a 'Punjab ka puttar' in the true sense and had a huge heart.

When Harry Baweja set out to make Chaar Sahibzaade, the only thing he knew was that it was to be a gift to the future generations, but even he could not have predicted the appreciation that is coming his way.
The word of mouth propaganda has been so strong that the film is tax free in Madhya Pradesh.
After watching the film Shivraj Singh Chauhan, chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, was so impressed with the film, he tweeted, “Sahibzaade film based on the sacrifice of brave sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji shall be tax free in Madhya Pradesh.”
Also the film’s screening will be arranged for free of charge in Ranchi on Tuesday and Wednesday (11th & 12th Nov 2014).

To make Chaar Sahibzaade a film on the four sons of the Sikh Guru Govind Singh in the 3D Animation format and to see it finally being released last week was a dream that producer-director Harry Baweja nurtured for decades. To see that dream come to fruition after years of struggle is a life-changing experience for Harry who last directed Love Story 2050 in 2008. 7 years is a long time for a filmmaker to be absent from Bollywood where it's easily true to say if you are out of sight, you're out of mind. But it was a risk worth taking for Baweja. Sighing deeply after what he says was his first night of sleep after release, Harry Baweja who in the past has directed super hits like Dilwale and Qayamat, says, "It was definitely a risk worth taking. For five years I've worked only on my dream project. Now when...

There are two notable films releasing this Friday – The Shaukeens and Rang Rasiya. Between the two, no prizes for guessing that it would be the comic affair The Shaukeens that would lead the show. The film has been promoted well, the songs have made their presence felt too, the recall value is good due to remake factor and Akshay Kumar’s presence in a special appearance has got it further noticed. Moreover, Lisa Haydon is ensuring that her perky act pulls in masses to theaters. A seemingly safe affair due to controlled costs, The Shaukeens should take a decent start at the box office and find audience in single screens as well as multiplexes.
On the other hand Rang Rasiya is primarily a multiplex release and its promotion has picked up mainly in last 10-15 days. The film’s delay won’t make much of a difference though since it...

Harry Baweja wants to give his sons the culture and religious history as a gift. That’s why he has made Chaar Sahibzaade , which is Bollywood’s first performance capture realistic film.
Speaking about his emotional connect with the film, Harry Baweja says, “I have made this film not only for my sons but also for the each and every kid in the world, who is forgetting religion, forgetting culture! Mumbai, March 18: Actor Harman Baweja has resurfaced after five years to rebuild his dwindling career with "Dishkiyaoon". Talking candidly about the wrong choices he made, he said one should take criticism in the right spirit and move on.

Shah Rukh Khan recently stated in an interview with Filmfare Magazine that he never wanted to become an actor and assumed that he would never succeed within the world of Bollywood. The 47 year old actor took part in the interview to mark 100 years of Indian Cinema and also posed for a special edition cover along with two other legends; Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan. “I never wanted to be an actor; I always wanted to be a sportsman” said Shah Rukh. “The first person who thought I could be an actor was Harry Baweja. He called my mother and told her, “Main aapke bete ko zaroor hero banaoonga.” My mom immediately wrote his number on a wall. Mom, of course, wanted me to be in the movies. I was 17-18 then and I used to do theatre. I didn’t want to do movies. But once my mother died, there was nothing left in Delhi.

After making a sci-fi film Love Story 2050, Harry Baweja's next is Chaar Sahibzaade, a 'photo realistic' 3D Animation film in S-3D on Sikh History.
Commenting on why he decided to make a 3D Animation film, Baweja says, "While going through the pages of Sikh History, as I focussed on the dramatic events around the lives and sacrifices of the four Sons of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, I knew I had the story of my next film in hand. But it is an understood fact that a 'live action' film cannot be made on the lives of the four sons of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, so Animation was the only option in which format I could make a feature film on this part of Sikh History. We then closely worked with Mr. Prasad Ajgaonkar the head at the Animation Studio 'I Realities' to create the world of that era.
