- Bob Beattie was born on January 24, 1931 in Manchester, New Hampshire, USA. He was an actor, known for Over the Top (1987), Combat! (1962) and ABC's Wide World of Sports (1961). He was married to Cheryl Britton, Kiki Cutter, Ann Dwinnell and Marci Cohen. He died on April 1, 2018 in Fruita, Colorado, USA.

- Head coach of the U.S. Ski Team from 1961 to 1969. Among those on his team were Spider Sabich, and Jimmy Heuga (both of whom Beattie recruited for the University of Colorado-Boulder), and Billy Kidd.
- Was ABC Sports' expert commentator for Alpine Skiing events, including the World Cup and the Winter Olympics. He was very well-known for his call of the Gold Medal-winning run of Franz Klammer in the Downhill at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria.
