Exclusive: French-Anglo director J.K. Amalou’s off-beat Cannes and Saint Tropez-set crime comedy Queen Of Diamonds has begun principal photography on the French Riviera.
Popular French comedy actress Frédérique Bel, whose credits include Serial (Bad) Weddings and Ducobu Président!, plays a woman who settles in Cannes after the murder of her British husband in London.
Leo Gregory co-stars as one-half of a British police detective team who travel to Cannes to question the woman about the theft of the precious gem The Queen of Diamonds, which might have been handled by her deceased husband. Andy Beckwith plays his sidekick.
Not convinced they are really policemen, she evades them and a cat-and-mouse caper ensues across the French Riviera, with her path crossing that of a veteran diamond trader, played by Christophe Lambert. Gabriella Wright also features in the cast as his wife.

In his latest podcast/interview, host Stuart Wright talks to director Simon Rumley about his new film Once Upon a Time in London, which is on limited release across the UK now.
Once Upon a Time in London charts the epic rise and legendary fall of a nationwide criminal empire that lasted for three action-packed decades from the late 1930s. The one-time friends and partners in crime turned bitter enemies oversaw a fledgeling East End and Soho underworld responsible for brutal protection rackets, vicious lawbreaking, shocking corruption and glamorous associations, which paved the way for the notorious Kray twins to exert their dominance over the capital’s gangland realm.

Simon Rumley (director of Red, White & Blue, Fashionista & Crowhurst) has begun a six week shoot on the brutal gangster thriller Once Upon a Time in London – for Gateway Films – which dramatises the violent reign of two of London’s most notorious gangsters, Billy Hill (Leo Gregory) and Jack ‘Spot’ Comer (Terry Stone), charting the legendary rise and fall of a nationwide criminal empire that lasted until the mid-fifties and which paved the way for the notorious Kray Twins and The Richardsons.
Director and co-writer Simon Rumley commented:
Having spent the last decade or so writing and directing thematically disparate but collectively extreme dramas, it makes absolute sense for me to progress to the gangster genre where love, lust, greed, paranoia, betrayal and violence are every day occurrences. The story of Jack Spot Comer, Billy Hill and their respective battles to become King of London’s Underworld has remained one of Britain’s most dynamic,...

Ironclad: Battle for Blood picks up where the original, bizarrely well-cast Ironclad (2011) left off and goes in another, astonishingly similar direction. Guy (Tom Austen), the battle-scarred Aeneas of the Rochester siege, has given up on the idea of honor and now beats people to death for money. Even when his cousin, Hubert (Tom Rhys Harries), needs him to help defend his family's castle against marauding Scots, he still demands to get paid. Guy also brings along his buddy Berenger (David Caves), a sadistic executioner (Andy Beckwith), and a lunatic murderess (Twinnie Lee Moore). This film bears such a striking likeness to the plot developments in Ironclad but without the vague political implications that it's almost as if they went to Jonathan English and asked if he could do roughly the same thing but with less money. His answer was "Yes, yes I can. But only if I...

Ironclad: Battle For Blood is a sequel to Ironclad which was released in 2011. I have not seen the first film but based on what is on view in Battle for Blood it would be worth seeking out. Ironclad: Battle for Blood is a different type of historical war movie. There are no fancy sword moves, no spell casting wizards or dragons running amok. What we have here is a serious version of the type of thing Monty Python used to do, especially in their movie about the Holy Grail, showing what life in the middle ages was really like. Dirty, dangerous, ignorant, short and brutish.
Opening titles tell us that in the 12th Century England had laid waste to Scotland and then withdrawn. Scottish clans raided estates and castles all over the northern part of England in retaliation.

Writer-director Jonathan English got surprisingly lucky with the first Ironclad (2011) film, as it offered a thrilling/shocking blood thirst of video-gaming proportions, as well as an impressive cast, including Paul Giamatti, Brian Cox, Derek Jacobi, Charles Dance and the dashing James Purefoy. Still set in the harsh surroundings of 13th Century Britain, post the Great Siege of Rochester Castle, the second film, Ironclad 2: Battle For Blood, seems to have switched target audience, with a more youthful cast of mainly TV actors.

Game of Thrones Season 2 Trailer. The Seven Devils Game of Thrones TV show trailer features a song entitled (I presume) ‘Seven Devils’, song sweetly by a female singer. The Game of Thrones Seven Devils trailer features all new footage for season two of Game of Thrones. The part when the singer or singers say “seven devils are around you” after Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) is finished speaking is pretty powerful. Also we are shown that parts of the second and third books in the A Song of Ice and Fire book series are represented in season two. Why do I saw that (spoilers): The Unsullied are shown as well as the moment of their purchase. That happens in A Storm of Swords, the third book in the series (end spoilers). Like it says in the prologue of one of the books though, some events happen coterminous with other events...

Game of Thrones Season 2 Trailer. The latest Game of Thrones casting is a little different and involves one of the members of the Brave Companions. Andy Beckwith, who’s repped by Shepperd-Fox, seems to have been cast as Rorge. This news has yet to be officially confirmed, but for the time being it seems on the level. Rorge is a criminal being sent to the Wall along with Arya Stark and Gendry. He is of the more dangerous men present and as such is shackled and caged in a wagon. Now what makes this casting so different from the truckload we’ve heard so far is that this is technically a recasting. We got a glimpse of Rorge in the Season 1 finale (pictured above) where he was played by an unknown actor (and the Internets seem to all agree he looks startlingly like Liam Neeson. If only).
