The CW has released the first images from next week’s episode of Arrow, and in them we finally get to meet the villainous Konstantin Kovar. Played by action movie legend Dolph Lundgren, he’s the reason Oliver Queen has travelled to Russia and joined the Bratva in this year’s flashbacks (which are set to be the last, but are also the best we’ve seen in some time).
Things don’t look too good for Oliver in the gallery above, but it’s going to be just as bad in the present as he and the rest of Team Arrow end up squaring off with mysterious baddie, Prometheus. For more on what to expect from this episode of Arrow – titled “So It Begins” – here’s the official synopsis:

Although only five episodes of the current season of Arrow have aired so far, I feel as if the series has reattained levels of excitement and intrigue that may prove to rival those of season 2, which is often hailed to be the best.
One of the elements contributing to the show’s current success and revitalization is that of the mysterious new villain in Star City, Prometheus. If you ask me, the TV version of him seems like Green Arrow’s equivalent of Zoom. Think about it: His costume reveals no identifying traits whatsoever, his voice is distorted, he accumulates body counts that not too many villains are able to boast, and he was a background player before coming to the forefront in the sixth episode.

The CW has released the first promo for next week’s episode of Arrow, and in it, we get a much better idea of what the villainous Prometheus is up to. However, despite sharing a name with a Justice League villain, this version of the character is something new, so we still don’t know who he is or what his end goal is beyond destroying the Green Arrow.
It’s been said that he’s someone from the vigilante’s past though, and speculation is running rampant that he could be a resurrected Tommy Merlyn. After all, he died furious with his best friend because he was secretly a killer, so it might make sense that he’s now taking out people from the vigilante’s past in order to somehow spite him.

Just last night, I was reflecting on how Arrow spawned such a rich universe – now a multiverse – from its humble beginnings as an unrelated followup to Smallville. With timelines being rewritten and characters appearing in live action that we previously never thought possible (Wild Dog, anyone?), we truly are living in a golden age of fandom.
As can be expected, synopses released by the network allow us to gaze into the not too distant future of our favorite superhero shows. Please note that The Flash wasn’t included due to the fact that November 8 is Election Day in the United States, therefore the Scarlet Speedster won’t have a new episode to offer that week.

Marc Guggenheim recently released details on the Arrow season 4 finale which will air on May 25. The shoot will last for 11 days and wraps on April 19. John Behring is directing from a script written by Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle. Greg Berlanti is credited with developing the story. The 23rd episode and season 4 finale of Arrow is titled "Schism" possibly hinting at a split among the members of Team Arrow. Will the team of Green Arrow, Spartan, Overwatch and Speedy split up for good? Given the recent developments, the relationship between Oliver and Diggle just might splinter beyond repair. If Arrow is headed for its own Civil War in season 5, will Green Arrow lead one side while Spartan leads the other? Given the narrative structure of the show, if such a split occurs, it's pretty much a given that Felicity will side with Diggle. Production begins today on Arrow's fourth season finale.

The situation with Damien Darhk is clearly going to be taken to the next level following the show's crossover event with The Flash. Arrow Season 3, Episode 23 “My Name Is Oliver Queen”
Written by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg (story), Marc Guggenheim & Jake Coburn (teleplay)
Directed by John Behring
Season four airs this fall on The CW
Remember back in the beginning of season two, when Oliver discovered after Tommy’s death that he was still a vulnerable human being, and had to protect his city as an agent of good? Remember how the show went out of its way to show that Oliver still had a heart? Apparently Arrow did not, because the big revelation of “My Name Is Oliver Queen” is Oliver being reminded by Felicity that his heart is what makes him special – not only repurposing a story this show’s already told multiple times, but doing so in a way that seals the fate of what was once the show’s best character, ending the show’s tumultuous third season with a whimper.
