- (1941) Benton records an album of folk music for Decca Records on September 23 & 25 in New York. Released in 1942, "Saturday Night at Tom Benton's" (Decca Album No. 311) featured Thomas Hart Benton on harmonica, his son T.P. on flute, Edward Robinson on harpsichord and the Frank Luther Singers under the musical direction of Harry Sosnik. Songs on the three disc set were Cindy, Wayfaring Stranger, Old Joe Clark, Gay Head Dance and Chilmark Suite, parts 1 and 2. Benton created new artwork "expressly for this album."

- (April 24, 1945) Word From the People - Forty Pick-Ups from Six Continents (CBS Radio) News special covering the United Nations Conference beginning the following day. Produced and directed by Norman Corwin the show featured remotes from Moscow, England, Washington, Chungking (Chongqing), Paris, Sydney, New York, Presque Isle (Maine), Toronto, Havana, Manila, Montevideo, New Hampshire, Philadelphia, Mexico City and Iwo Jima. Sgt. Henry Jackson acted as M.C. in San Franciso with contributions from notable people including Jan Masaryk and Virginia Gildersleeve, the U.S. delegate to the United Nations, also in San Francisco; Alfred Drake, The Chapel Choir, Elmo Roper, Carl Van Doren & Bruno Walter in New York; Paul Robeson from the Erlanger Theater in Chicago; Carl Sandburg from Harbert, Michigan; Alexander Fleming in London; Bette Davis from the Hollwood Canteen, also in Hollywood were Thomas Mann, E.Y. Harburg & Earl Robinson; Secretary of State Edward R. Stettinius Jr.; and Thomas Hart Benton from Kansas City, Missouri. Music was conducted by Lud Gluskin. 60 minutes. Benton commented "This is Tom Benton, painter speaking from Kansas City in the heart of America. When war comes to a country there is no more a place of refuge for the artist than for other people. There are many differences of interest among artists. I...hope that politicians of the coming generation will learn to compromise their differences and then they will see, as we artists have seen, that appeals to force will not and cannot change different kinds of basic interests. Politics is a kind of Art."

From the Festival of Contemporary Arts at the University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois comes a discussion of modern art with artists Thomas Hart Benton, Stuart Davis and Perry T. Rathbone, director of the Saint Louis Art Museum. 45 minutes.
