Sam Raimi, best known for the Evil Dead and Spider-Man movies, is about to get lost in the web of the devil’s triangle. The man who brought Xena: The Warrior Princess to TV will be battling two other studios in a trio of movies being made about the Bermuda triangle. Raimi is navigating negotiations to develop and possibly direct one for Skydance Productions.
Skydance has been developing its Bermuda triangle movie since 2013. Universal and Warner Bros have also been working on films about the mysterious Caribbean travel hazard.
The latest version of the Skydance film, which is as-yet untitled, was written by Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift also wrote a draft of the script. There is no studio attached to the project yet.

Screenwriter Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard, who co-wrote 2010’s “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” are rewriting a script based on an original screenplay by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. The filmmaker, best known for his “Spider-Man” and “Evil Dead” films last directed “Oz the Great and Powerful” for Disney. Filmmaker Phil Noyce ("The Quiet American," "Dead Calm") is concluding a deal to direct multiple episodes of HBO's six-hour mini-series event "American Lion" which begins shooting in October.
Sean Penn will play Andrew Jackson, the 7th U.S. President who won the popular vote but lobbied fiercely to abolish the electoral college because he believed the process to be corrupt. He also signed the infamous Indian Removal Act.
The story is based on Jon Meacham's Pulitzer-Prize winning novel of the same title, and Robert V. Remini's biography of Jackson. Matt Jacobson, Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard will produce for Lionsgate Television.

Legendary has assembled its final shooting cast for the forthcoming historical epic The Great Wall, which promises to be the largest movie production ever to shoot entirely within China. Matt Damon, Willem Dafoe and Game Of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal are all locked in to star alongside a raft of Chinese actors attached to smaller supporting roles.
