In the sound film era of the 30s he continued his career as a movie actor and he took part in well-known productions as "Das Mädchen Johanna" (1935), "Truxa" (1937), "Die göttliche Jette" (1937) and "Das grosse Abenteuer" (1938).
During World War II he only appeared in one more movie called "Rembrandt" (1942).
His son Werner Bernhardy jun. became an author too.
Although in the 10s Werner Bernhardy was also active as an author and screenwriter.
After the war he continued his activity at the theater in Schwerin, moreover he was nominated by the Americans as the Generalintendant at the Mecklenburgischen Staatstheater.
He joined the film business in the 10s, and his last cinematical work for a silent movie was "Filmbanditen" (1921).
He began his career at smaller theaters before he also got engagements in the big cities of Germany.
