The part of TikTok that serves as a launching pad for hit singles often seems like an endless stream of dance challenges — kinetic sequences of moves, heavy on martial arm movements, that can be packed into a 15-second clip shot on a stationary phone camera. Users like the dances — the Renegade, the “Say So” routine, the Number One Baby dance — while artists and labels like the streams that the dances earn their singles. Megan Thee Stallion benefitted from the Savage challenge; Ciara from the Get Up challenge; Blanco Brown from the Git Up challenge.

Major spoilers ahead as we speak to Line Of Duty creator, writer and director Jed Mercurio about Roz Huntley, Acc Hilton and more…
If I were ever to find myself alone in a room with a dead body I’d created in self-defence and pondering my next move, “plead guilty to manslaughter,” Jed Mercurio tells me. “For the minimum three years sentence. If you take the risk of fighting a murder plea with self-defence and you fail, then you will be convicted of murder and that is a mandatory life sentence.” Getting off with self-defence is really, really hard, says Mercurio, really hard. “I did the research.”

iZombie has really hit its stride in season two, which hasn't offered up a duff episode yet...
This review contains spoilers.
2.4 Even Cowgirls Get The Black And Blues
I wasn't expecting he Major/Liv stuff to consistently be the best part of an all-round great season 2 of iZombie, but this show continues to deliver some near-unbearable angst when it comes to this star-crossed couple.
In tonight's episode, Major finally admits to Liv that he needs (so much) help — but only after a horrible scene in which Liv puts her heart on the line and tells Major that she needs to let him go and Major more or less slams the door in her face. Good move for her; bad moment for an increasingly spiralling Major.
It is so fitting that Major's breaking point later comes when a former youth he helped recognises him while he is trying to buy drugs.

iZombie, Season 2, Episode 2: “Zombie Bro”
Written by Diane Ruggiero-Wright

iZombie, Season 2, Episode 3: “Real Dead Housewife of Seattle”
Written by Kit Boss
Directed by Jason Bloom
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW
Liv and Blaine spent much of the first season trying to fly under the radar of the public because of their zombie afflictions, but despite their best efforts, the second season premiere established that not only did they attract attention from the wrong people, but Vaughn and company were willing to do whatever it took to eliminate the zombie threat and regain power. The past two episodes have worked to deepen Blaine’s backstory while examining how Major is coping with being Vaughn’s designated hitman, in a series of highly entertaining episodes that promise an exciting set of storylines.

In its second season, iZombie has developed into a suspenseful, character-driven show that just keeps getting better...
This review contains spoilers.
2.3 Real Dead Housewife Of Seattle
Maybe it was just Liv’s reference to the Veronica Mars theme song, but this iZombie episode (in addition to last week’s) felt like an episode of Rob Thomas’ high school noir show from its heyday. Bold statement, I know. I don’t think iZombie has gotten enough of a rhythm going to equal the excellence of its predecessor just yet, but it is seriously finding its stride by adding nuance to its villains, keeping its murder mystery related to the zombie plot, and integrating its characters into a cohesive ensemble in a way it never really managed in season one. If you’re not watching iZombie, you’re missing out on a suspenseful, unpredictable, character-driven TV show that just...

In Zombie Bro, iZombie delivers one of its best episodes yet with a bro murder, and plenty of tragic Liv/Major angst...

2.2 Zombie Bro
Damn, iZombie. Stop making me feel things. (Just kidding. Never stop.) This show may have just delivered its best episode yet with the perfect balance of character-drive zombie arc developments and an unpredictable, compelling murder-of-the-week. Never have I wanted to spend more time with a bro than in Zombie Bro. Well played, show.
Let’s get the murder mystery out of the way first because, while watching Bro Liv try to solve this one was one of the more entertaining parts of my week, it couldn’t compete with the heartbreaking character stuff that went down elsewhere in the ep.

iZombie returns for its second season more confident and more focused. If only the same could be said about poor Liv...
This review contains spoilers.
2.1 Grumpy Old Liv
Time heals all wounds, just maybe not the ones punched in Liv’s life by both her status as a zombie and some of the questionable decisions she made at the end of last season. Things are in tatters, and Grumpy Old Liv is about our protagonist sorting through the ruins of her old existence, pondering whether it wouldn’t be easier to just embrace her lot in life and go full-monster.
Of course, that wouldn’t be a show we’d all want to watch, so it’s up to the case of the week to teach Liv that she’s better off keeping the people she loves around, even if they’re not too fond of her right now.

Warning: The following contains spoilers from Tuesday’s iZombie Season 2 premiere.
No wonder iZombie executive producer Rob Thomas has been keeping mum about Major’s arc in Season 2!
At the close of the CW series’ sophomore opener on Tuesday night, Liv’s ex-fiancé was blackmailed by Max Rager into agreeing to kill off all of Seattle’s zombies. In return, Major’s pretty, undead ex stays unharmed. (Oh, and thanks to the cure’s side effects, Major can now sense when somebody is a zombie. Helpful!)

But he sure isn’t keen on his ex-fiancée when the CW series returns on Oct. 6.

Life is Strange: Episode Four–The Dark Room
Developed by Dontnod
Published by Square-Enix
Available on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One
As much as every episode of Life is Strange has ended on an increasingly strong note thus far, The Dark Room has taken this series to a Return of the King level of resolutions, with a number of plot lines having come to their surprisingly pleasant, or seethingly uncomfortable, heads in this penultimate chapter.
Beginning with a quiet and introverted prologue, The Dark Room gives us a bit of time with the alternate reality before taking it back and sending us to the true state of things as we’ve come to know them. Even still it does drop us a few clues, most importantly that the apocalyptic elements of the story remain the same in either reality, suggesting that Max’s powers may not be the key to salvation after all.

iZombie is orbiting Veronica Mars again.
Exec producer Rob Thomas — the brainchild behind the current and former CW dramas — has tapped Mars grad Adam Rose to appear in the Season 2 premiere, airing Oct. 6. Thomas stealthily broke the news during an interview in TVLine’s Comic-Con suite earlier this month (see video, below).

Rose — whose Mars character, Max, crushed on Tina Majorino’s Mac in Season 3 — will play Byron McCoy, a sensitive hipster prone to wearing ironic t-shirts and passionate about the arts. Byron may have information on a recent murder.

Jurassic World took the #1 weekend box-office spot for the third week in a row with $54.2M off a -49% week-over-week drop, just allowing it to fend off Disney's Inside Out, which made $52.1M on a -42.4% decline. With $32.9M in 3,442 theaters Ted 2, however, didn't really make a run at the spot, making less than even the most pessimistic pundits had placed it. Universal's own estimates had the film at $45M - $50M making Ted 2 the second Seth MacFarlane film to under-perform for them. A Million Ways to Die in the West opened in 3,158 venues on May 30 of last year to a still-surprisingly low $16.8M weekend. Ted 2 has a B+ CinemaScore.Included in the Universal report is another Jurassic World record. The film also crossed the $500M mark domestically, the fastest any film has done that, crossing the milestone in 17 days (6/12/2015 - 6/28/2015). The previous record holder, Marvel's The Avengers,...

In what is somewhat of a surprise Universal reports that Ted 2 had a $13.2M Friday which puts it on pace for a $34.1M weekend. That's quite a bit lower than tracking, pundits and conventional wisdom pegged the Seth MacFarlane sequel to take, with most citing $50M as the guesstimate. That is even slightly under the $54M the original Ted rang up on its June 29 - July 1 weekend three years ago, and Ted 2 is in 203 more theaters than Ted (3,442 vs. 3,239), so the low-30s tally is unexpected.Consequently the number one spot is open for either Universal's Jurassic World, in its third week, or Disney's Inside Out, in its second, for the top spot. Inside Out had the better Friday, but just barely, making $14.9M compared to Jurassic World's $14.7M. But, as it proved last weekend, Saturday and Sunday belong to the dinosaurs. Still playing in 4,198 North American theaters,...

"iZombie" wrapped up a really entertaining first season tonight, and I have a few thoughts on the finale, followed by a lot of thoughts from executive producers Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright, coming up just as soon as I am to serotonin what Milton Hershey was to chocolate... "iZombie" is a show with a lot of moving parts, and "Blaine's World" was no different in that regard. It not only gave us a pretty thorough accounting of the Case of the Week — albeit one connected to all the business with Max Rager, which looks to be the main thrust of season 2 — but had to leave room for Major to go full-on Travis Bickel with the zombies at Meat Cute (scored to '80s synth classic "Der Komissar"), and for several reversals in terms of who would stay a zombie, who would be cured, and who might just die. Liv giving...

Life is Strange: Episode One–Chrysalis
Dontnod Entertainment
Square-Enix
PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC
In many ways Life is Strange, the new serialized adventure title from Dontnod and Square-Enix, has set the benchmark pretty high for future episodic releases. With it’s gorgeous presentation, high production values, and tons of replayability, this is going to be a tough game for the format to top for a long time to come.
Telling the tale of a newly minted adult returning to her hometown, Life is Strange is very much a typical coming of age story. What’s special about this particular effort though is the amount of detail which is put into the details of our protagonist’s world. After a thrilling and ambitious prologue set amid the endless dreamscape of our central character, Max(ine), the game opens in a classroom and immediately gives you access to an almost daunting amount of information.

Mark and Dave Schutlz played by Ruffalo and Tatum respectively

Based on the true story of Olympic gold medalist Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum), Foxcatcher tells the story of how John du Pont (Steve Carell), member of the millionaire du Pont family, murdered Schultz's brother, wrestling champion Dave (Mark Ruffalo).

Director Bennett Miller, unlike the David O. Russells of the world, is switching his casts with each movie. Here he is working with a screenplay by Oscar-nominated Dan Futterman and Emmy-nominated E. Doing some promotion for the new season of “New Girl,” Max Greenfield showed up at “Arsenio” last night (September 30) for a fun-filled chat.
During the course of the interview, the “Veronica Mars” hunk ended up talking about his “Arsenio Hall Show” spoof of Vanilla Ice’s appearance from back in the early 1990s.
Hall began, “There’s this thing on the internet called ‘ArSheerio Paul’… It’s google-able!” and then asked Greenfield about the project.
Max noted, “It’s Paul Sheer, who does a spot-on [impression of Hall]. He called me one day, and said, ‘Listen, we’re doing this thing called the ArSheerio Paul Show. We’re going to shoot them all in one day, and we’re reenacting segments from the Arsenio Hall Show. You know that thing where you think, “Ugh, another crime show. That’s the last thing we need. If I have to see one more . . . oh, and who is this gentleman?” That’s the tagline to White Collar.
The USA Network understands that hiring cheekbones with a well-fitting suit attached is probably all we’ve ever needed, but here’s the thing: the show is also thoroughly enjoyable! I don’t even watch crime series unless all the characters are unspeakably British or embroiled in a convoluted murder mystery in which everyone in town is a suspect, but White Collar is my exception. In trading the typical bloody basement for a spotless New York museum space, the show injects a playfulness, refinement, and breezy extravagance into an otherwise tired and horrifying genre. It’s all erudite art forgers instead of abusive club promoters.

He’s made quite a name for himself on “The New Girl,” and it turns out Max Greenfield also does a fabulous job with celebrity impressions.
The “Veronica Mars” hunk is featured in a new video from Talk Show Labs in which he recreates “Ice Ice Baby” rapper Vanilla Ice’s interview on the “Arsenio Hall Show” more than 20 years ago.
Joined by comedian Paul Sheer, Max dons some douchey duds and gives Rob Van Winkle’s delivery spot-on while making all kinds of silly claims about himself.
Max and Paul also put together an improvised version of the interview, adding in some hilarious tidbits that probably should have been in the original.

Losing "Happy Endings" totes sooks. But in the complicated world of television, this may not be the end.
When ABC pulled the plug on "Happy Endings" after three seasons and lots of scheduling moves, USA Network emerged as a frontrunner to save the beloved comedy. But when that fell through, Sony tried to find the show a new home. Sadly, that was unsuccessful as well. "We don’t know the specifics; that's all sort of above our pay grade. But there were ongoing talks with a lot of places. It just didn’t work out," "Happy Endings" creator David Caspe told TVLine. "The truth is, how many shows have moved networks ever? It’s very difficult to do, and there’s probably some financial algorithmic reason for that that I don’t even understand."

Kickstarter might be a crowd-funding platform that can lead to the revival of entertainment properties (see Veronica Mars), but it's also being watched by publishers for the potential of infringing copyrights. Witness HarperCollins Publishers, which has just forced Kickstarter to remove a proposal for a sequel to Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are. The project from UK illustrators Geoffrey O. Todd and Rich Berner intended to raise £25,000 for a book, Back to the Wild, that would share the story about what happened to Max and the creatures he encountered. The book was also going to be

Though it's not an official announcement from Rob Thomas, as most of the casting notices have been, Max Greenfield has confirmed he will be returning for the "Veronica Mars" movie.
Greenfield played Veronica's (Kristen Bell) love interest, Deputy Leo D'Amato, during the show's first season, though he continued to pop up throughout the series. Greenfield broke the news during an interview with Gold Derby, saying he was scheduled to film for a day on the project.
"I'm really excited about it," Max says, "It's one of those few occasions ... where you're working on something where everybody is just so excited to be there." Greenfield thinks the movie is going to "be like a fun reunion," though he notes part of the excitement is the responsibility to make the project good, as it was funded by the fans of the show.

Hollywoodnews.com: Hollywood lost a significant voice. Screenwriter/director Nora Ephron, a three-time Oscar nominee, lost her battle with leukemia. She was 71.
A prolific writer, Ephron’s first credits stretched back to the 1973 television series “Adam’s Rib.” Ten years after, she struck it big on the silver screen when she collaborated with screenwriter Alice Arlen on Mike Nichols’ “Silkwood,” earning Ephron the first of three Oscar noms.
Though she continued to write, penning such scripts as “Heartburn,” “Julie & Julia” and “When Harry Met Sally.” Ephron transitioned to the director’s chair in 1992 with the Julie Kavner vehicle “This Is My Life.” She’d have arguably her biggest hit the following year with 1993′s “Sleepless in Seattle,” starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.

Ephron's death was confirmed by her friend Richard Cohen, the Washington Post columnist. She died of complications from the blood disorder myelodysplasia, with which she was diagnosed six years ago.
The New York Times reported her son Jacob Bernstein said she died from pneumonia brought on by acute myeloid leukaemia.
Considered one of most influential women in Hollywood, Ephron was a director, screenwriter and producer who also wrote books including Heartburn and Crazy Salad. Her most recent film credits included the film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep.
Heartburn, which also starred Streep in the film version, chronicled Ephron's own dissolving marriage with journalist Carl Bernstein and was based on the novel of the same name.

Sad news this evening, as writer, screenwriter, and director Nora Ephron has passed away at the age of 71.
It's hard to imagine the modern romantic comedy without the influence of Ephron, whose perceptive and humorous take on how the sexes interact set a template for a generation. It was Ephron's sense of humor that first got her noticed, pairing with (now celebrated writer) Calvin Trillin for a satirical newspaper that caught the eye of New York Post publisher Dorothy Schiff, who offered her a job. This began Ephron's journalism career that saw her write for a variety of publications including New York, Esquire, and The New York Times Magazine. In 1976, Ephron married Carl Bernstein of Watergate fame, and even did a draft of the screenplay for "All The President's Men" that ultimately wasn't used, but again, someone saw her talent and gave her a shot.

Nora Ephron is dead at 71.
The beloved screenwriter, who brought to life award-winning films including "Silkwood," "When Harry Met Sally...," "Sleepless in Seattle," "You've Got Mail" and, most recently "Julie & Julia," belonged to America's top tier of filmmakers, but her talents extended far beyond Hollywood. Ephron was also an accomplished essayist, novelist and reporter, not to mention the Editor-at-Large of The Huffington Post.
Raised in Beverly Hills, Ephron graduated from Wellesley College before beginning her career as a journalist at the New York Post. She then went on to write about the 1970s women's movement for Esquire.
"Whatever you choose, however many roads you travel, I hope that you choose not to be a lady," Ephron told Wellesley's Class of 1996 in a commencement speech. "I hope you will find some way to break the rules and make a little trouble out there. And I also hope that you will choose...
