Some shows get canceled after a few seasons. Some only last for a few weeks. And then, there are those that get yanked from broadcast after a single night’s airing.
In this golden era of television, there are dozens and dozens of critically hailed TV programs to choose from to suit your personal taste. But even when TV’s at it’s best, that doesn’t mean there have been some serious missteps along the way.
Whether the show didn’t land with audiences, or a scandal or tragedy resulted in an unexpected immediate withdrawal from the broadcasting schedule, we’ve rounded up the television shows that got pulled from air after just one episode. While some shows did eventually air the remainder of the episodes in the can, all of these shows were scrapped from the get-go for various reasons.

Adapted from the author’s 1999 debut novel, “God Is A Bullet” is the first screen translation of a work by one Boston Teran, a prolific but pseudononymous scribe of popular page-turners. Those tomes have been well-received by thriller fans, though others have speculated they might be a genre put-on penned by possibly more than one well-known literary figure. Nick Cassavetes’ slick adaptation certainly maintains the book’s mix of lurid incident and pontificating pretentiousness — albeit without the kind of intensity that might have made this far-fetched story credible, or the atmospheric style that might’ve pulled it off as a fevered nightmare à la David Lynch instead.
These 156 minutes, with cop Nicolaj Coster-Waldau and escaped captive Maika Monroe pursuing the cult of devil-worshipping scumbags who’ve kidnapped his daughter, are not exactly dull. But they are rather ludicrous, without being much fun. It’s hard not to imagine this overlong,...

With all due respect to the vampire western Near Dark and the coolness of The Lost Boys, my favorite ’80s vampire flick is pretty easily Fright Night (watch it Here). It has a way about it that is just unmatched. It’s able to mix the ’80s setting, think Jerry in the club hypnotizing Amy, with both a modern and classic feel. Its almost the evolutionary step of what Hammer films would have turned into had they not folded. Its certainly beloved enough with it’s own documentary and a sequel, remake, and sequel to that remake. That’s what I wanted to talk about today. While Near Dark got no sequel, probably for the best, and The Lost Boys got multiple awful sequels,...

The Dr. Pepper Fansville commercials feature the former Oklahoma linebacker Brian Bosworth as sheriff, and not the actor Kurt Russell. Many fans mistook the sheriff in the ad for actor Kurt Russell, known for roles in The Hateful Eight, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, The Fate of the Furious, and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. I only now realized that the sheriff in those Dr. Pepper commercials is Not Kurt Russell...

Ambitions premieres Tuesday, June 18 at 10 p.m. Et on Own. Kendrick Cross stars as Titus Hughes, a passionate attorney and dedicated husband to Amara (Essence Atkins). Titus has accepted the challenge of being in-house counsel for a big pharma company run by Hunter Purifoy (Brian Bosworth) to fight a class action suit brought by the powerful Carlisle family.
Cross explained how he eased into the role when We Love Soaps visited the Ambitions set in April.
"Initially, when I first got the audition all they gave me was the scene," he said. "I didn’t know the backstory or anything else. I developed that character. When I got on set, I had eleven different people telling me 'no, he's this" or “no, he’s that.' I was a little confused for the first two episodes."
Cross decided to trust his instincts on the character.

Taraji P. Henson stars as a hard-working, ball-breaking sports agent struggling to be heard in a male dominated industry in Adam Shankman’s new comedy What Men Want. Loosely based on the 2000 film What Women Want which starred Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt, the film is the latest instalment in the current trend for gender switch comedies which have so far failed to set the box office alight.
Ali Davis (Henson) finds that she is constantly being frozen out by her male colleagues and objectionable sexist boss Nick (Brian Bosworth). When she is passed up for a well-deserved promotion, Ali begins to wonder what else is to be done to succeed in an industry which will never allow her to grow. After a wild night out for her best friend’s bachelorette party, Ali gains the ability to hear men’s thoughts after drinking a mysterious potion concocted by a...

Taraji P. Henson powers through the comic clichés of What Men Want like a supernova engine that could. She’s a hot-wired riot, but her movie stalls almost as soon as it starts. It’s a gender flip on What Women Want, the nearly two-decades-old Nancy Meyers rom-com in which Mel Gibson (before he was revealed to be a raging bigot) played a piggish Chicago ad exec suddenly able to hear what women are thinking — which is nothing positive about him. In this inverted update, Henson plays Ali Davis, a...

The first trailer for Tajiri P. Henson's What Men Want has arrived, and all I can say is I hope this gender-bent reboot is better than the original which starred Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt.

Taraji P. Henson shows off her funny side in the first trailer for comedy 'What Men Want.'
The movie is a gender-reversed take on the 2000 hit 'What Women Want,' which starred Mel Gibson and centered on a chauvinistic executive who gains the ability to hear what women are really thinking.
In the upcoming movie, Henson plays a successful sports agent who is passed up for a well-deserved promotion and questions what else she needs to do to succeed in a man's world.
After taking a "magic potion," she gains the ability to hear men's thoughts and uses her newfound power to outsmart her colleagues as she races to sign the next basketball superstar. But the lengths to which she resorts puts her relationship with her best friends and a potential new love interest (Aldis Hodge) to the test.
Henson is perhaps best known for her Golden Globe-winning performance as Cookie Lyon in FOX drama "Empire" and starred in 2016 box-office hit 'Hidden Figures.'
Directed by Adam Shankman ('Hairspray'), the cast also includes Tracy Morgan, Richard Roundtree, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Josh Brener, Tamala Jones, Phoebe Robinson, Max Greenfield, Jason Jones, Brian Bosworth, Chris Witaske, and Erykah Badu.
'What Men Want' is set for release in U.S. theaters on Jan. 11, 2019.

"This is not a curse. This is a gift." So says Ali Davis (Taraji P. Henson) in the trailer for Paramount Pictures' What Men Want, released just moments ago. After being passed over for a promotion at her sports agency, and being told to "stay in your lane," Ali visits a psychic and is given a mystical tea that enables her to actually hear men's thoughts. With her newfound abilities, Ali has an advantage over her colleagues and infiltrates their boys' club at work. All the while, she works overtime to sign the next NBA superstar. Of course, Ali's powers have their downsides, as they test her friendships and a possible...

What's this? A Chinese action film featuring the talents of former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson and human oddity Steven Seagal? You betcha! Tan Bing's China Salesman not only features the least action-y title for an action movie ever - about the only thing that could ever beat it would be a Jean Claude Van Damme / Brian Bosworth star vehicle titled Soft Pillow - hits Chinese screens this summer. The story appears to revolve around the increasing Chinese presence in continental Africa, where Chinese interests have been buying up massive infrastructure projects for some time now, with the added value of Tyson punching people and Seagal trying not to look fat. Check out the first trailer below. I've gotta go write a script for Soft...

Olive Films is killing it this year. So many bucket list Blu-ray releases in such a short amount of time. My exposure to Olive prior to a few months ago was minimal. I had a few Blu-ray discs I had purchased, mostly their horror output, and for the most part I have been satisfied with what I have seen. There have been one or two missteps along the way, but mostly what they release is pretty acceptable. This time Olive have released another personal favorite from adolescence, in Stone Cold starring Brian Bosworth.
The Movie:
Though sometimes my memory confuses Stone Cold with Charlie Sheen’s similar film Beyond The Law, it remains a favorite of mine from childhood. Some thought Stone Cold would skyrocket Brian Bosworth towards action film legend. While that didn’t exactly happen, it still turned out to be memorable Eighties action fare. Brian Bosworth is...

The Divergent Series: Insurgent will outperform the original film, even though that one was terrible. I liked this a lot more, so it should be a lively podcast on Friday as Brad gets mad. I'm going with $18k per theater, $68.4 million, or about a 30 percent jump. That's aggressive, but slotting this against the Ncaa Tournament was pure genius. The Gunman looks D.O.A., even more so than Run All Night. The trailers could not look any worse, Sean Penn creeping around in the shadows with a gun. I'm putting it at $8.4 million, but even that might be kind. Like that scene in The Big Lebowski, there's just no bottom here. Do You Believec Not really, no. Well, okay, I believe in the sense that with only 1,300 theaters it's punching well above its weight. As per normal, these religious titles are basically impossible to predict as they rely on actual human marketing.

I’ve confirmed that Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas have joined The Expendables 3, the Millennium Entertainment pic that already picked up Harrison Ford to add to the cast that has begun to resemble the Old Timers Day game held annually at Yankee Stadium. Sylvester Stallone continues to bring in aging action muscle for the franchise he hatched back in 2010. Why Stallone and Millennium continue to ignore Jeff Speakman and Brian Bosworth is beyond me, and they seem to be about the only action heroes who haven’t joined the beefcake brigade. Is Sly saving them for a fourth movie?...

For those who don’t know me very well I am a big fan of the medium of podcasting when it comes to film. I love good discussion about the world of film, as well as interesting insight about the art form that I am so endeared with. A couple of years ago I began a trek, on my blog, through every single film related podcast I could find. The goal was to experience as much film discussion as I could and to separate the wheat from the chaff. The trek is still ongoing, but at this point I feel like I have a decent handle on what the very best film related podcasts are out of the ones I have listened to.

The Expendables 2 doesn’t open until this Friday, but it’s never too early to start casting rumors for The Expendables 3 – which is exactly what producer Avi Lerner is doing this morning. A Total Film piece finds the producer already anticipating a third outing for the series, which focuses on a group of “older” action stars from the ‘80s and ‘90s showing they’ve still got the goods even as they reach an age where they could be collecting Social Security. Lerner is already organizing his wishlist for the third film, and he’s not scraping the bottom of the B-movie barrel for new cast members (which could once again kill my dream of an Expendables movie featuring Thomas Ian Griffith and Brian Bosworth…). Former American football star-turned actor Brian Bosworth has been hit with a new lawsuit relating to alleged homeowner negligence.
Bosworth rented out his Los Angeles mansion to Grasshopper House LLC chiefs in 2006 but according to its tenants, the property's septic tank failed between 2008 and 2009, forcing them to cough up more than $50,000 (£31,250) to fix the problem.
Now Grasshopper House LLC executives have launched a legal battle against The Longest Yard star in a bid to recoup their funds, reports TMZ.com.
The firm is seeking a total of $150,000 (£93,750) to cover the cost of the bill and lost use of certain rooms due to the outstanding odour.
Bosworth has since sold off the home in question, which was previously used during the making of hit TV show The O.C.
