Eleanor Parker today: Beautiful as ever in Scaramouche, Interrupted Melody Eleanor Parker, who turns 91 in ten days (June 26, 2013), can be seen at her most radiantly beautiful in several films Turner Classic Movies is showing this evening and tomorrow morning as part of their Star of the Month Eleanor Parker "tribute." Among them are the classic Scaramouche, the politically delicate Above and Beyond, and the biopic Interrupted Melody, which earned Parker her third and final Best Actress Academy Award nomination. (Photo: publicity shot of Eleanor Parker in Scaramouche.) The best of the lot is probably George Sidney’s balletic Scaramouche (1952), in which Eleanor Parker plays one of Stewart Granger’s love interests — the other one is Janet Leigh. A loose remake of Rex Ingram’s 1923 blockbuster, the George Sidney version features plenty of humor, romance, and adventure; vibrant colors (cinematography by Charles Rosher); an elaborately staged climactic swordfight; and tough dudes...

This week: James Franco plays the titular small-time magician turned wonderful wizard in "Oz the Great and Powerful," Sam Raimi's prequel to 1939's "The Wizard of Oz."
Also new this week is the action-horror flick "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, "Snitch" with Dwayne Johnson and the 40th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition Blu-ray of Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon."
'Oz the Great and Powerful'
Box Office: $233 million
Rotten Tomatoes: 60% Fresh
Storyline: Oscar Diggs (James Franco) is a self-described con man/circus magician with questionable ethics who gets whisked away by a tornado to the Land of Oz. There he meets three witches — Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams) — who each have different agendas for the prophesized "wizard." Although Oscar doesn't possess the great powers they anticipated, he must quickly find out who is good or wicked and use...

Snitch
Starring Dwayne Johnson, Susan Sarandon, Barry Pepper
Directed by Rick Roman Waugh
Rated PG-13
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is a likable guy. I mean, I don’t know him, he could be a dick in real life, but on camera, he seems like a pretty cool dude. No matter what he takes on, whether it be the Tooth Fairy, a federal agent or just your average everyday blue collar guy, his natural ability to come across as relatable plays very well to his advantage. I think that’s why people go to his movies, it’s certainly not the grade A scripts he receiving, one look at his resume will show you the guy has an uphill battle to show that he’s a better actor than you might think. Case in point: His newest movie Snitch.
Now, without the man who doesn’t really go by ‘The Rock’ anymore,...

When you think of Dwayne Johnson movies on the horizon you immediately think of Michael Bay's Pain and Gain and the long-awaited G.I. Joe: Retaliation. But he is also starring in a film called Snitch, and the Super Bowl trailer for the film is now available to watch.
Directed by Ric Roman from a script by Justin Haythe, it also stars Susan Sarandon, Benjamin Bratt, and Barry Pepper, and arrives in theaters on February 22.
Synopsis:
In the fast-paced action thriller Snitch, Dwayne Johnson stars as a father whose teenage son is wrongly accused of a drug distribution crime and is looking at a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 10 years. Desperate and determined to rescue his son at all costs, he makes a deal with the U.S. attorney to work as an undercover informant and infiltrate a drug cartel on a dangerous mission -- risking everything, including his family and his own life.

Dwayne Johnson has signed on to star in a new action thriller called Snitch, which was written by Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road), and is set to be directed by Ric Roman. The film has a pretty standard formula story, in which Johnson plays a working class guy who risks everything to save his son, who is falsely imprisoned. I don't put a lot of faith Johnson's movies these days. They've been pretty disappointing, but I am excited for his next film Fast Five. Of course there's a possibility that Snitch will end up being a badass movie.
