Friday the 13th Shirt from Cavity Colors
It wouldn’t be Friday the 13th without new Jason merch! A ton of great companies are dropping stuff today, but I have to give props to Cavity Colors for showing love to the 2009 reboot. Puis Calzada’s design gets extra points for focusing on sack-head Jason.
Long sleeve shirts – which feature unmasked Jason on one sleeve and a burning sleeping bag on the other – are available for 40. The artwork also comes on T-shirts for 30. Orders close after 72 hours and will ship the week of February 6.
Be sure to check out Fright Rags, Gutter Garbs, Terror Threads, Theatre of Creeps, Inked Up Merch, Terror Vision Records, and Pizza...

Beating Schrader’s Hardcore to the punch by a matter of months, Robin Spry’s grim and gritty gutter-level drama is driven by a not-dissimilar premise, that of a man searching the seedy urban underbelly for his drug-addicted prostitute daughter. Rather astonishing that it was made for TV – the remarkably bleak opening indicates that no punches are going to be pulled, as we first see Peter Brennan (Don Francks), before the credits have even finished rolling, nodding out in a grimy cafe toilet, the needle still sticking out of his arm. This is followed by howling hospital cold turkey, as a borderline sadistic cop plays Peter a slide show of a drug-addicted girl forced into sex work, before revealing that said girl is Peter’s own daughter. We then get to see said slide show again in harrowing close-up, while Peter wails ever louder. So, once recovered, and with regular...

Former Sydney-based Fairfax Media executive and 2Ue programmer Peter Brennan has finished his gardening leave and is ready to look for a new job.
Brennan, who once worked at channel Nine, finished up at 2Ue in December after new station boss Chris Parker decided to take the station in a new direction, including the new FM-style breakfast show fronted by Ian Dickson.
“Right now my biggest priority is to pick up the kids from school, but from Monday I’ll be looking for a job,” Brennan told Dr Mumbo.
“There are a couple of opportunities in TV, and also radio.”

In this roundup from the Encore and Mumbrella Annual, we look back at the year in radio.
2012 begins with 2DayFM shock jock Kyle Sandilands in a continuing sponsorship shit-storm. Jenny Craig is the first to sponsor the Kyle and Jackie O breakfast show after advertisers withdrew from the program in late 2011 following Sandilands’ vitriolic on-air rant at a News.com.au journalist that included calling her a ‘fat slag’. The public response to the weight loss brand’s decision to advertise sees them cancel their ads 24 hours later.
——————————————————————————————————–
Claire Hooper and Tim ‘Rosso’ Ross start their new partnership on Sydney’s Mix106.5 breakfast show as Jane Hall joins Chrissie Swan on Melbourne’s Mix101.1 breakfast show.
——————————————————————————————————–
The Kyle and Jackie O Show opens the year with a ratings drop from 11.2 per cent to 10.1 per cent. Elsewhere, Adelaide’s Mix 102.3 clings to a market lead ahead of FiveAA.

Twentieth Television on Tuesday confirmed that it is developing a "contemporary" version of the syndicated newsmagazine A Current Affair (HR 11/22). The distributor said the first-run strip is being targeted for a launch next year in syndication and that the updated version will be executive produced by Peter Brennan, who created the original Current Affair. Current Affair, which featured Maury Povich as its first host, launched in 1986 on several Fox O&O stations and began its eight-year run in national syndication two years later. The new version is set to launch on the Fox Television Stations group, representing nearly 45% of the country. "A Current Affair, one of television's most seminal programs, has shaped the television newsmagazine landscape with its cutting-edge approach," said Bob Cook, president and chief operating officer of Twentieth, in a statement. "This contemporary version of 'A Current Affair' for the new millennium will follow the same principles as its predecessor."...
