Mark Harmon wasn’t NCIS creator Don Bellisario’s first choice for the show. But Bellisario was quickly sold on Harmon after seeing the actor’s performance in The West Wing. His acting on the political drama even informed how Bellisario would end up writing Gibbs.

Harmon was being looked at for the potential lead role in NCIS from the beginning. Casting director Susan Bluestein remembered that a lot of big names were being floated around for the NCIS lead role. These included the likes of Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin and Clive Owen. But Bluestein was one of a few executives that had her heart set on Harmon.

Spoiler Alert! This story shares plot points from the series finale of NCIS: LA.
NCIS: LA wrapped its 14-season run Sunday with a promise of more action and adventure for Sam (LL Cool J) and Callen (Chris O’Donnell) — which leaves open the possibility for a reunion on Paramount+ sometime in the near future.
For now, though, the series created by Shane Brennan bid farewell to fans by giving them a much-anticipated happy ending. Callen married his lady love Anna (Bar Paly) in an impromptu city hall wedding while Kensi (Daniela Ruah) discovered that she and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) are finally going to have a baby.
And we did hear from Linda Hunt’s Hetty; we just didn’t get to see her. After the nuptials, Callen received a letter from Hetty offering her Mykonos place for the ultimate honeymoon. But first, she’d like him and Sam to take...

NCIS: Los Angeles may be ending in a few months, but we'll be taking a trip down memory lane before that happens.
NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 Episode 13, airing Sunday, February 26, will feature a blast from Kilbride's (Gerald McRaney) past.
We already covered the fact that Marilu Henner will guest-star during the episode as Kilbride's ex-wife, who visits her one-time husband with one goal:
Reconnect with his estranged son, Alex.
Later this season, Alex will appear in the flesh because TV Insider broke the news that Christopher Gorham has been cast as Alex.
Beyond the fact Kilbride will be reuniting with his son during the episode, we don't know what will go down.
CBS confirmed last month that the current season would be the end of the procedural drama series.

One of CBS’ longest-running scripted shows, NCIS: Los Angeles, will be coming to an end after 322 episodes. Its current 14th season will be the show’s last, with the series finale set for May 14, airing on the network and streaming live and on demand on Paramount+.
The NCIS spinoff, starring LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell, is tied as the fifth longest-running CBS primetime scripted series ever, only behind Gunsmoke, Lassie, CSI and Criminal Minds. Among the four, the two shows that have aired in the last 50 years, CSI and Criminal Minds, both have since been revived, which bodes well for NCIS: Los Angeles‘ future.
Additionally, NCIS: Los Angeles is a rare long-running procedural drama to have had its original leads, LL Cool J and O’Donnell, stay on for the entire run. Both have spoken publicly about their commitment to the series, which hit the 300 episode milestone last May, and their fellow cast members.

If you haven’t had enough of two CBS and Paramount+ dramas, you’re in luck: More is coming. A new Seal Team stand-alone movie is being produced for Paramount+ in the U.S. and comes from the creative team of series star David Boreanaz, Christopher Chulack and Spencer Hudnut. The military drama moved over to the streaming service four episodes into its fifth season and is returning for a sixth. Plus, a new NCIS is being produced for Paramount+ Australia and Network 10. NCIS: Sydney, slated for 2023, will feature local stories with Aussie actors and producers and be filmed in one of the world’s most scenic harbor cities. NCIS: Los Angeles creator and Australian Shane Brennan is attached. “These two projects represent two new ways we are expanding our studio footprint while supporting the company’s mission to drive streaming,” said George Cheeks, president and CEO...

Well, this is interesting.
CBS Studios has news today for Paramount+ subscribers in the US and in Australia.
A new NCIS will be produced for Paramount+ Australia and Network 10, and a new Seal Team movie will be produced for the streaming service in the U.S., it was announced today by George Cheeks, president and CEO of CBS and chief content officer for news and sports at Paramount+.
There's no word as to whether American audiences will get the opportunity to watch the Australian programming, but it would sure be a shame if this international goodness wasn't available here.
For the first time, CBS Studios will expand one of its biggest and most successful global franchises into a new international edition, NCIS: Sydney.

Just days after Seal Team was renewed for Season 6 by Paramount+, the military drama also has received an order for a stand-alone movie from the streamer. Additionally, NCIS: Sydney, an offshoot from the venerable crime drama franchise, has been commissioned by Paramount+ Australia and the country’s ViacomCBS-owned Network 10. The projects, announced during the ViacomCBS Investor presentation, come from CBS Studios which is tapping into the studio’s IP to expand two of its current series/franchises.

“NCIS” is heading down under.
The long-running CBS franchise is being adapted for Paramount Plus Australia and broadcaster Network 10 in a deal that marks the first international edition for the CBS Studios-produced juggernaut.
“NCIS: Sydney” will launch in 2023 and feature local stories with Aussie actors and producers. “NCIS: Los Angeles” creator Shane Brennan, who is Australian and first joined the franchise back in 2007, is attached.
The commission is a clever way for Paramount Plus to bulk up its local offering in Australia, where the service launched in August 2021 and already takes advantage of content from local linear offering Channel 10, which is also owned by ViacomCBS (set to be rebranded as Paramount from Wednesday).
Paramount Plus is slowly expanding internationally and will finally launch in Europe this year. Where the service isn’t made available as SkyShowtime — via a deal with Sky that was struck last summer — it...

Australian Writers’ Guild (Awg) group CEO Jacqueline Elaine is resigning after 15 years at the helm of the organisation due to a health condition.
Having battled illness for some months, the guild reported today that Elaine has stepped back from both Awg and the Australian Writers’ Guild Authorship Collecting Society (Awgac) to focus on regaining her health.
Awg president Shane Brennan said that both the guild’s national executive council and the board of Awgacs fully support her and wish her a speedy and full recovery.

All Australian screen industry guilds, Screen Producers Australia (Spa) and bodies including Women in Film and Television (Wift) Australia have made a joint submission to the government’s ‘Supporting Australian Stories on Our Screens’ options review.
Broadly the submission endorses the media reforms outlined in Spa’s paper, which would require all delivery platforms to invest a minimum percentage of their Australian revenues into local scripted content, with annual sub-quotas for drama, documentary and children’s programs.
The Producer Offset would be harmonised at 40 per cent, the noncompetitive 16.5 per cent Location Offset raised to 30 per cent and there would be additional funding for national broadcasters and screen agencies and government support for the Acma to administer the scheme.
By speaking with one voice and representing the #makeitaustralian campaign, the screen sector – with the notable exceptions of the SVOD services, commercial free-to-air networks and the public broadcasters – is responding to Communications...

Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts Paul Fletcher and Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
The Federal Government announced its anticipated arts rescue package today, rolling out a suite of measures totalling $250 million, including a $50 million fund for screen production to be administered by Screen Australia.
The package follows months of ongoing lobbying from the sector for targeted assistance. An estimated 120 screen productions were impacted by Covid-19 shutdowns, with more than 30,000 jobs affected.
The $50 million ‘Temporary Interruption Fund’ will be designed to support screen producers to secure finance and start filming again, with the government noting that production restart has been delayed by a lack of insurance coverage.
The measure has been praised by Screen Producers Australia (Spa), with the organisation arguing it would provide much needed capital for the independent production sector to restart.

Screen Producers Australia CEO Matthew Deaner.
Amid production shutdowns and job losses, the Australian Directors’ Guild (Adg), Australian Writers’ Guild (Awg), the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (Meaa) and Screen Producers Australia (Spa) have penned a joint letter to the Federal Government to seek urgent support for the screen industry.
Among the many productions to have halted or been postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic are The Voice, Clickbait, Australia’s Got Talent, Australian Survivor, Holey Moley, Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
The joint letter asks government:
• to recalibrate the support announced in the first round of Government stimulus to ensure it is available to sole traders. This will mean that the support is available to a large number of producers, writers, directors, cast and crew impacted by production shutdowns;
• to support and redeploy agency resources to meet...

Debbee Klein, a top agent in Paradigm’s TV literary department, has pledged that Paradigm will strive to achieve gender parity among its agents by 2020.
“At Paradigm, we’ve made a big commitment to 50/50 by 2020 and I hope we get there. There’s never been a year where it’s more advantageous for women to get hired,” Klein said Thursday at TheWrap’s third annual Be Conference at the Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica, Calif.
“It is important that our agency pool reflects our client list, and most of these agency pools don’t right now. They are male-driven, they are white for the most part. They are good agents, but it’s time to open this up and take that seriously,” she said in a panel with Untitled Entertainment’s Jennifer Levine moderated by TheWrap’s senior film reporter Beatrice Verhoeven.

Kensi is shot trying to break up an L.A. bank robbery in the opening sequence. She's in there in street clothes, but tangles with one of the gunmen and is overpowered.
Flash back 24 hours earlier. In Iraq, Islamic terrorists hijack a truck with $5 million. The money is traced back to the U.
