John Travolta is leading the tributes to tragic actor Jeff Conaway, hailing his Grease co-star as a "wonderful" man.
Conaway died on Friday, a day after he was taken off life support. The 60 year old had been in a coma since he was hospitalised on 11 May, when he was found unconscious in his California home following a suspected overdose from prescription pills.
The actor, who had a history of drug abuse, had also been suffering from pneumonia and blood poisoning.
Paying tribute to his old pal, Travolta says, "(He was a) wonderful and decent man and we will miss him. My heartfelt thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this very difficult time."
Conaway's representative Phil Brock has also expressed his sorrow at the actor's passing, telling People.com, "We loved Jeff as a person. We respect him. We know his personal struggles are all over. He was a kind, gentle soul who loved to perform, from small theatre to Broadway."
Conaway had been taking the prescription pain medication since badly injuring himself following a fall at his home last year, when he broke his hip and arm, fractured his neck and suffered a brain haemorrhage.
His drug and alcohol troubles had been well documented over the years, including two stints on star counsellor Dr. Drew Pinksy's reality TV show, Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.
And Pinksy has used Conaway's death as an example of the damage years of drug use can do to the body.
He tells TMZ.com, "Jeff is another pharmaceutical death from the over-utilisation of prescription drugs. Please continue to pray for friends and family. They appreciate your support."...

Jeff Conaway's rep has suggested that mixing "pain killers and cold medicine" contributed to the actor's dire physical condition. The former Taxi star was hospitalized on May 11 for a possible drug overdose and eventually slipped into a coma. Dr Drew Pinksy, who tried to help Conaway with his addictions on Celebrity Rehab, later claimed that the 60-year-old is suffering from sepsis and is in a "very tenuous" state. Conaway's spokesperson Phil Brock has now provided an update, confirming that his client has so far showed no signs of "improvement". "He is still unconscious, ventilated and intubated," Brock told E! News. "No improvement at all [Wednesday]." (more)...

Jeff Conaway's representative is convinced the actor ended up in intensive care because the cocktail of pills he was taking prevented him from seeking help as soon as he fell ill.
The Grease star was was found unconscious on 11 May and hospitalised in California amid reports he had suffered a drug overdose.
It later emerged the actor, who has battled drug addiction in the past, had been struck down with pneumonia and sepsis, a potentially fatal blood poisoning caused by a bacterial infection.
Conaway remains in a critical condition in hospital, and is showing little improvement, according to his spokesman Phil Brock.
He tells E! News, "He is still unconscious, ventilated and intubated (a plastic tube placed into his windpipe to help him breathe). No improvement at all today."
Brock also reveals he is convinced Conaway's prescription medications may have actually worsened his health crisis, adding, "He was found unconscious with pain killers and cold medicine in his system to my knowledge... My assumption that the combination of pain killers and cold medicine led to his not knowing how seriously ill he was.
"If he was not taking any medicine, he wouldn't have passed out and would have gone to a doctor or a hospital on his own. If you have been an addict, any medicine is too much, so it can be deduced that it's some type of O.D. (overdose)".

Maybe you aren't getting your meal breaks when you should. Or perhaps you're being asked to do more than your job—standing in for yourself or another actor, performing your own stunts, ironing your wardrobe, or staying late without overtime. When you suspect you're being treated out of accordance with your contract, how can you speak up?In some cases, when the issue is small and could be a misunderstanding, it might be best to start with a call to your talent representative. "In general, I believe actors should call their agent or manager first, unless it is an immediate safety issue," says talent rep Phil Brock of Studio Talent Group in Los Angeles. "Usually, a call from...
