O.J. Simpson, one of the most controversial figures in America’s history, died on April 10, 2024 of cancer. A former superstar, “The Juice,” as he was known, was an NFL star, as well as a perspective actor who ultimately became one of America’s most notorious public figures after the murder of his wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend, Ron Goldman, in 1994. And while Simpson was acquitted in a criminal trial, he was later found liable for the murders in a civil suit. Simpson never recovered and later ended up in jail for armed robbery and kidnapping. He spent his last years in freedom but was ridden with diseases and disgraced as a public figure.
And while no one really doubts that Simpson did it, despite the acquittal, there seems to be a plan to shoot a movie that claims that Simpson didn’t actually do it. Titled The Juice, originally titled Nicole and O.

Netflix’s Good Times reboot has drawn ire from audiences and national organizations such as the NAACP for its perceived stereotypical depictions of African Americans since its trailer was first released on March 27. That same day, a Change.org petition, which has gathered some 5,000 signatures, was launched calling on viewers to boycott the new show which “promotes violence, culture destruction of the Black community and alcohol abuse,” the creator of the petition wrote.

Loki star Owen Wilson is still not letting O. J. Simpson off the hook for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. Simpson was acquitted in the infamous trial that still has many people divided on the final non-guilty verdict. Wilson refused to star in the upcoming film, titled The Juice, which portrays the NFL star as innocent of the murder. The Wedding Crashers star was offered a boatload of money for the role.

While the majority of fans appreciated Wilson walking away from the project, a few believed that the actor should have respected the justice system’s motto of ‘innocent until proven guilty.’ The controversial film is being helmed by British director Joshua Newton.

The classic murder-mystery game Clue is headed back to screens both big and small, with Variety reporting this week that Sony is planning potential film and television adaptations.
Variety reports, “Hasbro Entertainment has closed a deal with Sony‘s TriStar Pictures and Sony Pictures Television for the film and TV rights for the beloved board game.”
“Sony is the perfect partner to adapt a property as culturally impactful and mystery-defining as ‘Clue,’” said Hasbro’s Zev Foreman and Gabriel Marano. “Nicole Brown, Katherine Pope, and their teams are tremendous creative collaborators and ideal partners to help us figure out after 75 years if it was Colonel Mustard in the conservatory with the candlestick.”

Better known as Cluedo in the UK, Clue could eventually be a TV series, as Hasbro and Sony announce the latest effort to adapt the boardgame.
Movies based on toys and games bring in audiences these days. People also seem to like murder mysteries, if Knives Out is anything to go by. All of which might explain why Hasbro is partnering Sony in another attempt to adapt the murder mystery boardgame Clue (known in the UK as Cluedo) for the screen.
As reported by Variety, Hasbro Entertainment and Sony have signed a deal to make a film or TV series – at the time of writing, it isn’t clear which route the two corporations will take.
In a statement shared by the outlet, bosses from Hasbro described Clue as “culturally impactful,” which is quite a funny thing to say about an old boardgame that comes with a tiny piece of string and a miniature pistol,...

Sony is the latest player that would like to make an accusation. The studio has won the rights to develop a reimagining of the Hasbro board game “Clue,” and the studio intends to bring the murder mystery game to the screen for both film and television.
Hollywood has been trying to remake “Clue,” first adapted in Jonathan Lynn’s cult classic screwball comedy “Clue” from 1985, for years. Most recently, a project was set up at 20th Century Studios, and it had Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman circling to star along with “The Muppets Movie” filmmaker James Bobin directing. In 2022, Oren Uziel (“The Lost City”) stepped up to rewrite the original draft of the script from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (“Deadpool”), but it too went nowhere.

The film and TV rights for Clue have landed at Sony, with Hasbro Entertainment closing a deal with TriStar Pictures and Sony Pictures Television to develop adaptations of the classic murder mystery board game.

Khloe Kardashian’s paternity has been a highly controversial topic of discussion. It is believed that the young Kardashian is not the biological daughter of Robert Kardashian. A conspiracy theory suggests that the 39-year-old is the daughter of the late O.J. Simpson. Although all the parties have repeatedly denied the rumors, several hints suggest that this can be a true possibility.

Fred Goldman, the father of Ron Goldman issued a statement following the passing of O.J. Simpson at 76.
Simpson’s trial and the subsequent controversial acquittal for the murders of his former wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend, Ron Goldman, in 1994, garnered significant attention.
In a separate civil trial, a jury found him liable in 1997 for the deaths and ordered him to pay $33.5 million to the family members of Brown and Goldman.
Fred Goldman has remained vocal over the years, asserting Simpson’s responsibility for his son’s murder on June 12, 1994, just a month shy of Ron’s 26th birthday.
On June 12, 1994, Ron Goldman was returning sunglasses that had been left at a restaurant where he worked by the mother of Nicole Brown Simpson.
Tragically, both Goldman and Brown Simpson were stabbed and slashed dozens of times, their bodies were discovered the following day.

What happens when you plan an extravagant worldwide tour… and nobody shows up?
That, unfortunately, seems to be the case for Girls5eva, the sharp and sassy music-industry comedy that moved from Peacock to Netflix for its third season this month. The show — staring Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps and Paula Pell as the members of a forgotten Y2K-era girl group attempting a middle-age comeback — was never properly appreciated during its two Peacock seasons, and it felt like a lifeline when it got picked up by Netflix for Season 3, since the streaming giant routinely turns its acquired shows into monster hits.

A group of state legislators representing the California Legislative Black Caucus are calling on film studios to meet with them regarding the sudden removal of Black female executives over the past few weeks.
A mass exodus of Black women from senior leadership posts — Vernā Myers (Netflix), Latondra Newton (Disney), Jeanell English (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) and Karen Horne and Terra Potts (Warner Bros. Discovery) — has raised questions about the depth of the film and television industry’s commitment to diversifying the top ranks of the entertainment industry.
The Clbc held a press conference on Thursday, citing the executives’ resignations and removals after the State Legislature approved the $1.6 billion Film Tax Credit initiative to provide tax incentives for the film studios.
“One executive removal could be a fluke,” said Senator Lola Smallwood-Cuevas during the press conference. “But four more? And we’re hearing more are to come. This is a troubling pattern.

I dream and have always dreamed that in the current situation my country is facing, I could be with my people and portray their struggle for freedom. I also wish that I could make films instead of receiving awards, because a filmmaker lives to make films. Anyway, I hope a day will come when I can make a film, and attend your festival with it.

As The Blackhouse Foundation marked its 15th anniversary, the organization presented TriStar Pictures president Nicole Brown with a special honor during a cocktail reception on Oct. 15.
Held at the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica, Calif., the special event commemorated Blackhouse’s work to amplify the voices of Black multiplatform content creators, particularly through its programming at the Sundance Film Festival, increasing the number of Black attendees, as well as expanding the opportunities for Black films and filmmakers to be featured at major film festivals.
Brown was awarded the Entertainment Trailblazer Award, singled out for embodying the nonprofit organization’s mission to “continually change the way audiences think about Black movies and television, and to keep the conversation about Black storytelling going on and off the screen.”
The honor was presented by The Blackhouse Foundation board chair and co-founder Brickson Diamond, who saluted Brown for her leadership. Among the...

The real events on which “The Woman King” is based were rather new to Cathy Schulman, one of the producers behind the historical epic that opened in U.S. theaters on September 16, when she first learned of them in detail. That was thanks to actor/screenwriter Maria Bello, who, after returning home from the West African nation of Benin in 2015, reached out to the then-head of the organization Women in Film, convinced there was a film in a specific part of the country’s history of which she had become aware on her trip.
“What I learned from [Bello], and then from a lot more research, is that there had been this amazing 500-year history in Dahomey, of these female warriors who had not only been uniquely identified as female warriors, but they also were victorious time and time again, against men and without guns,” divulges Schulman during her recent webchat...

Exclusive: Oscar-winner Emma Thompson, who plays Miss Trunchbull, the horrible headmistress who bullies a book-loving schoolgirl and her classmates in Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical, has revealed how she had trouble getting her child co-stars to loathe her.
”They thought I was Nanny McFucking McPhee,” she said referring to the stern-looking but soft-hearted nursery nurse she played on screen in Nanny McPhee and sequel Nanny McPhee Returns.
“I was supposed to terrify them. I mean, the characters they played were terrified of me, but they weren’t!,” the actress told Deadline at the after-party following the world premiere screening of Matilda The Musical, which opened the BFI London Film Festival at the Royal Festival Hall on Wednesday night.
The film, directed by Matthew Warchus, was adapted by Dennis Kelly from Dahl’s 1988 novel about super-bright Matilda Wormwood, with music by Tim Minchin. The three creatives reimagined their Tony Award...

The competition between Hollywood studios is fierce and sharp as a spear. On the opening weekend of most films, rival executives are quick to judge (and snipe). That wasn’t so in the case of The Woman King, the Black female-led epic action-adventure film that opened to a better-than-expected 19.1 million over the Sept. 16-18 weekend at the domestic box office.
“Usually, everyone is rooting against you,” says Sony Motion Picture Group co-president Josh Greenstein during a joint interview with TriStar Pictures president Nicole Brown. Adds Brown, who guided the movie: “Everyone is coming together for this one. It’s a win for Hollywood.”
No major Hollywood studio has produced an action-historical drama centering on an ensemble cast of dark-skinned Black women. Just as films such as Black Panther, Girls Trip and Crazy Rich Asians were defining moments for diversity, so is Woman King,...

Monday Pm: TriStar’s The Woman King stayed on track with its Sunday Am estimate, coming in at 19.05M.
It’s another great example of how Sony continues to win over adult audiences with non-tentpole fare. Pre-pandemic, TriStar had Little Women in December 2019 which posted a 3-day of 16.7M and legged out to 108.1M, and the Sony label had a summer sleeper in Where the Crawdads Sing which debuted to 17.2M and is still going, now at 88.9M domestic, 127M WW.
Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group, Tom Rothman, sent out the following celebratory email to staff about Woman King‘s triumph:
Dear Colleagues,
As The New York Times said in reference to The Woman King’s success this weekend, “it doesn’t have to be all sequels and superheroes!” Indeed! Tony and I have expressed congratulations and great appreciation to our immensely talented filmmakers Gina, Viola,...
