J.A. Bayona’s Netflix epic Society of the Snow swept Saturday night’s Platino Awards, picking up a total of six trophies including the top award of the night for best Ibero-American fiction film.
Bayona’s film follows the tragic events that take place after Uruguayan Air Force flight 571, chartered to fly a rugby team to Chile, crashes on a glacier in the heart of the Andes in 1972. Only 16 of the 45 passengers ultimately made it out alive as a handful of others perished on the mountain during the 72 days from the time of the crash until rescuers arrived.
Bayona also made his way to the stage to accept a trophy for best director, and his film’s haul also included best male performance for star Enzo Vogrincic, best editing for Jaume Marti and Andres Gil, best cinematography for Pedro Luque, and best sound for Oriol Tarragó, Marc Orts and Jorge Adrados.

When the Apple TV+ series The New Look premiered in February, it brought with it the true stories of Paris-based fashion designers — from Christian Dior to Coco Chanel — navigating the hardships of World War II. But the show also offered a new sound by way of its Jack Antonoff-produced soundtrack. The latest release from the record finds Bartees Strange reimagining the 1940s classic “You Always Hurt the One You Love.”

The new episode of The Masked Singer saw four new competitors take the stage. One unmasking occurred as Afghan Hound was unmasked as Savannah Chrisley after losing the Smackdown to Gumball. However, the two competitors didn’t need to worry about that final round. In reality, it was three, as Beets is this season’s first duo competitor.
Here is a look at Beets and who we think this duo is on The Masked Singer.
Beets On The Masked Singer
The Beets came out as a duo and sang the song, “Home” by Michael Buble. Their performance was well-received and they moved on to the next rounds without worrying about being unmasked this week. When Nick Cannon asked them who they liked from The Wizard of Oz, they said Dorothy and Toto, thanks to their loyalty and friendship.
As for their clue package, they said “Home for us has been wherever we’re together.

“The Masked Singer” has showcased some memorable duos over the years, beginning with the Snow Owls in season 4, who turned out to be country music legend Clint Black and his wife, actress Lisa Hartman Black. This season a pair of pals are performing as Beets.
They took to the stage for the first time on the March 13 episode and won over the audience and judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Rita Ora and Robin Thicke with their cover of the Michael Buble hit “Home.”
Beets are two men, each of whom has a distinctive sound but whose voices blend together so effortlessly. It was no surprise when they revealed, “We’re the best of friends and we’re pretty good co-stars too.” That latter phrase led two of the judges down the wrong path with their guesses of Will Arnett & Jason Bateman (Rita) and Steve Martin & Martin Short (Robin). A single photo can say a lot. Apparently that’s the case with an image that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released from their trip to Canada. A body language expert analyzed the snapshot of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their final appearance at the 2025 Invictus Games countdown celebration. In it, there were “signals” and certain body language movements that spoke the “loudest.”

Prince William attended the 2024 BAFTAs without Kate Middleton, and, according to a body language expert, the absence was telling. The Prince of Wales, without his wife, the Princess of Wales, had a “royal ‘Ken without his Barbie’” night out. After all, Kate wasn’t there to diffuse awkwardness like she’s done in the past or bring a dose of glamour a la gloves as in 2023.
William had a ‘Ken without his Barbie’ moment at the BAFTAs while Kate Middleton continues her recovery
On Feb. 18, 2024, William hit the BAFTAs — the U.K.’s version of the Academy Awards — solo. As the longtime president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, the BAFTAs are a staple on William’s calendar.
The 41-year-old usually goes with the Princess of Wales by his side. However, that wasn’t the case this time around, as Kate, 42, is home at Adelaide Cottage recovering following abdominal surgery on Jan.

You’d be forgiven for being surprised that Jason Derulo hadn’t released an album since 2015’s Everything Is 4. In the nine years since that full-length’s release, Derulo has kept himself in the public eye, whether through his Tiktoks or his steady stream of singles; his fizzy collaboration with the New Zealand producer Jawsh 685 “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat” even reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 2020, thanks in part to a clutch assist from BTS.
That gap helps explain in part the length of Nu King, Derulo’s fifth album.

The week after Christmas was relatively slow when it came to music consumption. For the Billboard 200 tracking week that ended on January 4, Taylor Swift‘s “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” held on to the top spot with just 64,000 equivalent album units based on its combined record sales, individual track sales and online streams. Read more about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
This was the sixth nonconsecutive week at number-one for “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” but despite its modest number of album units, it was actually a pretty suspenseful battle for the top spot as Morgan Wallen‘s “One Thing at a Time” achieved nearly 64,000 album units and thus just barely missed spending its 17th nonconsecutive week at number-one. After that, Drake‘s “For All the Dogs” came in at number-three with 58,000 units, Nicki Minaj‘s “Pink Friday 2” landed at number-four with 57,000 units, and Swift’s “Midnights” reached number-five with 46,000 units.

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has broken Elvis Presley‘s long standing record for the most weeks spent atop the Billboard 200 album chart by a solo artiste. She set a new mark of 68 total weeks, as ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ landed on top of the chart for a fifth time in the final full tracking week of 2023, reports Variety.
Although Swift set a new record for an individual, the ultimate high-water mark among all artistes is still held by the Beatles, whose albums have spent 132 weeks on top of the Billboard 200. Presley’s 67 weeks now puts him in second place among solo recording artistes and third place among all acts.
As per Variety, ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ registered 98,000 album-equivalent units for the week ending December 28, which was roughly half-in and half-out of the peak holiday buying season, marking a 28 percent decline from the previous week, per Luminate, and as reported by Billboard. Of those 98,000 units for the week,...

Christmas time was here during the Billboard 200 tracking week of December 22 through December 28, but it didn’t keep Taylor Swift from continuing her run at number-one. Her re-recorded “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” album achieved a fifth nonconsecutive week on the chart with 98,000 equivalent album units based on its combined record sales, individual track sales and online streams. That turned out to be a historic milestone for the singer-songwriter. Read all about this week’s chart at Billboard.com.
Swift’s five weeks at number-one with “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” bring her all-time total to 68 weeks on top across her 13 chart toppers. The rapper was sandwiched by Swift as “Midnights” jumped back up to number-three, up 31% to 75,000 album units. Michael Buble‘s holiday blockbuster “Christmas” also gained, though perhaps surprisingly not as much as Swift did. It rose one spot to number-four, increasing 10% to 70,000 album units. The current tracking week will likely be “Christmas’s” last on the chart until next year as holiday albums naturally tend to disappear...

Singer Cher has put out her first ever festive LP titled ‘Christmas’ and includes collaborations with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Buble, and Cyndi Lauper. She isn’t concerned about how well the record sells as she just knows she’s very proud of it.
“Even if no one ever listened to it, or no one ever bought it, it’s still one of the best albums I’ve ever made and I would be proud,” she told Britain’s Ok! magazine.
The album features covers of classic tracks and some new uptempo tracks because Cher was determined to keep things upbeat, reports aceshowbiz.com.
She said: “There are only two sad songs on the album. It’s not your mother’s Christmas album, you know? I didn’t want to sing ‘Silent Night’ or all the songs that had been sung in better ways by better singers than me.

Fans of 1980s pop music rejoice! Cher and Cyndi Lauper have blessed us with a duet! During an interview, the “If I Could Turn Back Time” singer discussed how the song came to be. Lauper also revealed what she thought of Cher back in the day.
Cyndi Lauper was the 1st singer Cher called to work on her Christmas album
During a 2023 interview with Paper, Cher discussed her debut Christmas album, Christmas. “All of a sudden, the Christmas album came up again,” she said. “I mean, it’d been coming up my whole life and I’d always been going, ‘Yeah, no,’ and somehow this was different. When I started, I was totally into it. I called Cyndi first and then I called Stevie [Wonder] and then Darlene [Love].”
Two other stars appeared on Christmas: traditional pop revivalist Michael Bublé and rapper Tyga. Cher was surprised she was able to work with both artists.

Cher and Stevie Wonder are two 1960s legends who are still going strong. Wonder recently duetted with Cher on one of her Christmas songs. The Goddess of Pop revealed how she felt when the “Superstition” singer appeared on her record.
Stevie Wonder heard Cher was covering 1 of his songs for her Christmas album
Cher’s first Christmas album, Christmas, has a cover of “What Christmas Means to Me” featuring Wonder. During a 2023 interview with The New York Times, Cher discussed the origin of this duet. “I did a Stevie song, but there were parts that I just didn’t know how to access,” he said. “Because it belongs to him, not to me.” For context, Wonder previously released “What Christmas Means to Me” on his 1967 album Someday at Christmas.

Cher didn’t release an album of Christmas songs until this year. Despite this, she performed vocals on the best Christmas song of the rock ‘n’ roll era. She revealed what it was like to revisit that career milestone.
Cher said her new album of Christmas songs doesn’t have ‘Christmas Christmas songs’
2023 saw the release of Cher’s first Christmas album, which is simply titled Christmas. During a 2023 interview with Billboard, the “I Got You Babe” singer took pride in the album. “They’re not ‘Christmas Christmas’ songs, Ok, they’re just great songs,” Cher said. “And I never say that because I almost never like what I do. But I mean people love it and I’m happy.”
It makes perfect sense that Cher would record Christmas songs, as she sang backup on Darlene Love’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).” That classic track became a standard, inspiring renditions by Mariah Carey,...

Two months have passed since Cher released her floor-thumping yuletide anthem “DJ Play a Christmas Song,” and the request finally reached The Kelly Clarkson Show’s house band on Tuesday. The show’s host, who is a Christmas Queen herself, crooned and belted the neo-disco tune (in bellbottoms!) during the “Kellyoke” portion of her show. When the chorus came in, she beamed a smile brighter than Rudolph’s nose: “DJ play a Christmas song, I wanna be dancing all night long.”

Nicki Minaj made hip-hop history with the release of “Pink Friday 2.” She debuted at number-one on the Billboard 200 albums chart and achieved something unprecedented for women in rap. Read all about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
This is the third album Minaj has launched in the top spot, making her the first female rap artist ever to achieve a trio of chart-toppers. She previously led the chart with “Pink Friday” in 2011 and “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” in 2012. “Pink Friday 2” achieved 228,000 equivalent album units based on its combined album sales, individual track sales and online streams. That’s the most for any female rap album in the 2020s so far, and it achieved more streams in a single week than Minaj has ever had before in her career.

Cher has joined the crop of fellow artists who’ve made their distaste for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame abundantly clear, saying in a recent interview that the folks behind the organization “can just go you-know-what themselves.”
The pop legend was a guest on a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, during which host Clarkson pointed out that Cher has No. 1 hits spanning seven decades — a milestone she shares only with The Rolling Stones.
“It took four of them to be one of me,” Cher said with a laugh. “And I’m not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! You know what, I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars. I’m not kidding you. I was about to say something else — I was about to say I’m not shitting you. I’m never changing my mind. They can just go you-know-what themselves.

“It took four of them to be one of me,” Cher said as Clarkson rose out of her seat and clapped. “And I’m not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!”

Ateez debuted on top of the Billboard 200 albums chart with “The World Ep.Fin: Will.” It’s the fifth album mostly in the Korean language to top the chart in 2023 alone, but it’s the first for this octet. Read all about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
“The World” achieved 152,000 equivalent album units based on the combination of its traditional album sales, individual track sales and online streaming performance, but like most K-pop efforts, this collection achieved its units mostly through traditional sales of collectible CDs and vinyls. Los Angeles, Dec 7 (Ians) Singer Michael Buble broke his Christmas collaboration rule as he teamed up with Cher for a new version of his 2005 single on her new festive collection, said his usual stance is to reject any offers to duet at this time of year after becoming synonymous with the season following his 2011 album ‘Christmas’.

Washington — The Kennedy Center Honors was a decidedly tuneful affair, with musical talents representing four of its five recipients – vocalists and/or songwriters Dionne Warwick, Renée Fleming, Queen Latifah and Barry Gibb — along with actor/comedian/filmmaker Billy Crystal.
The program, in its 46th year, followed the traditional format that showcases tributes to each honoree by artists and celebs whose identities are undisclosed in advance. It kicked off with a lively parade of dancers down the aisles, led by emcee and former honoree Gloria Estefan and accompanied by Sheila E on drums — a first for the event. Produced again by Done and Dusted Inc., it will air Dec. 27 on CBS.
Omitted this year was one familiar staple at the event – the inclusion of brief video biographies of each honoree that emphasized their childhoods and routes to success. Instead, minimal use of videos embellished career highlights.

Forget about staying gold. Ponyboy is staying lit! In Netflix‘s about-to-drop action-comedy Obliterated, The Outsiders icon C. Thomas Howell is grizzled, grabby, and all sorts of effed-up as Haggerty, one of the elite Special Forces agents racing to stop a terror plot to destroy Vegas. His specialty: Defusing bombs. And getting bombed. And he’s not the only one feeling a little frisky. In TV Insider’s exclusive clip, which you can watch above, Haggerty’s cohorts — including an impressively ripped Nick Zano as wiseass McKnight and Teen Wolf vet Shelley Hennig‘s team leader Ava — sweat it out as their resident bomb expert attempts to set the perfect mood for beating the clock. And because nothing is ever what you expect with this high-octane hoot from the makers of Cobra Kai, he of course lands on a classic as covered by Michael Bublé. London – A psychedelic eye mosaic commissioned by John Lennon for the swimming pool at his Kenwood home in Surrey in 1965 leads Bonhams’ Rock, Pop & Film sale on Wednesday 29 November at Knightsbridge, London.
Claire Tole-Moir, Bonhams Head of Popular Culture in London, commented: “This monumental mosaic, commissioned by John Lennon is a striking example of the Beatle’s artistic vision and influences. Lennon’s Kenwood home in the English countryside was a place of respite from all the public attention he experienced during the height of The Beatles’ popularity. It’s said Lennon would spend idle hours near the swimming pool and that the mosaic could even be seen from his favoured ‘sunroom’ at the top of the house. With Kenwood still under private ownership, it is very rare to see anything from when John Lennon lived there, making the ‘Psychedelic Eye’ mosaic an incredibly important artefact of Beatles history.”

Winter songs are meant to act like a warm blanket during the coldest time of the year. They also touch on new beginnings, with spring just on the horizon.
So, if you're in need of a cozy playlist, here are 15 songs that touch on both the highs and lows of the winter season.

Michael Bublé is on the set of his new whiskey commercial, and the Grammy-winner singer is having a little trouble with his lines.
It’s a classically overcast morning in Vancouver and Bublé is tossing around catchphrases for Fraser & Thompson, the new North American whiskey he’s created with longtime friend and award-winning Master Distiller Paul Cirka. Blended and bottled in Kentucky, the new release combines whiskeys from...

Stripped of a handful of tracks filled with contemporary signifiers, Cher’s Christmas could have been released at any point in the singer’s nearly six-decade career. Whether it be a faithful rendition of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” featuring the original queen of Christmas, Darlene Love, or the ingratiating original song “Christmas Ain’t Christmas Without You,” the majority of the album’s 13 tracks opt for a traditional holiday approach.
It’s when Cher and frequent collaborator Mark Taylor steer the project toward the long-dated dance-pop of the pair’s late-’90s smash “Believe” that the sleigh goes off the rails. For one, the album’s paint-by-numbers opening track, “DJ Play a Christmas Song,” is marred by a rudimentary hook—“DJ, play a Christmas song/I wanna be dancing all night long”—and gratuitous Auto-Tune and half-step key change. And the similarly pitched “Angels in the Snow” is only...
