Cineverse has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the gore-soaked action horror comedy Here for Blood, with their plan being to give the film a theatrical and digital release on February 9th. It will be available to watch on the horror streaming service Screambox that same day. With that date right around the corner, a full trailer for Here for Blood has arrived online, and you can watch it in the embed above.
Directed by Daniel Turres from a screenplay written by James Roberts, Here for Blood follows a down-on-his-luck wrestler and his girlfriend, who are having a hard time making ends meet. When his girlfriend finds herself overwhelmed by exams, muscle-bound wrestler Tom O’Bannon steps in to cover one of her babysitting gigs. But his chill night of junk food and video games quickly takes a turn for the cult-ish when the home is invaded by a gang of mask wearing maniacs.

Following its premiere at FrightFest in Glasgow in which it became an instant crowd favorite, Pageman Productions and Daniel Turres‘s ultra-gory, action-horror Here For Blood is getting an encore screening at next month’s FrightFest in London (Aug. 25).
To celebrate the premiere, the filmmakers have shared the first teaser trailer that gives us a small taste of the gory chaos that ensues when demons invade a home only to find out they’re going to have to go up against a professional wrestler, played by Shawn Roberts, best known by horror fans for his role as Albert Wesker in the Resident Evil films.

Abel Whitman (Hess) is a director on the edge – the edge of the industry, the edge of society and the edge of insanity – and his films are universally panned by audiences and critics alike. Seeking solice in the arms of a stripper he calls his muse, Whitman gets involved in a car accident which takes her life and drives him completely insane. Inspired by the grisly aftermath of the crash and reasoning that his films have failed because the effects do not look real enough, Whitman sets out on a killing spree, harvesting organs and blood from his victims and using them to create realistic gore effects. When critics praise this new found realism, Whitman cannot help but continue his murderous ways – ways, it turns out, he is most adept in getting away with.

[Our thanks to Andrew David Long for the following review.]
B-movie fiends, prepare for a campy dose of low budget splatter. Lee Gordon Demarbre's Smash Cut is a loving tribute to the 1960s gore cinema of Herschell Gordon Lewis (who makes a delightful if brief appearance).
When failed horror-film auteur Able Whitman (David Hess, who's no stranger to horror flicks) accidentally kills his stripper muse Gigi Spot in a car crash, he discovers the key for horror cinema success: real corpses. Is there blood? Buckets and buckets of it. Are there spare body parts? Dr. Frankenstein was an amateur. Is there a plot? Good heavens, you're not watching it for the plot. There's enough story to keep Whitman going from kill to silly kill, and to lead to Whitman's final showdown with celebrity detective Isaac Beaumonde (Jesse Buck) and Gigi's intrepid journalist sister, April Carson, played by porn icon Sasha Grey. Grey suggested in Steven Soderburgh's The Girlfriend Experience that she really can act,...

Halloween is over, but the horror-film screenings continue. A quartet of genre features that have yet to achieve general distribution will be shown this month on opposite coasts, all with special guests on hand.
Tonight at midnight (actually 11:55 p.m.) at Los Angeles’ New Beverly Cinema (7165 Beverly Boulevard), the Grindhouse Film Festival presents a special showing of Lee Damarbre’s Smash Cut, about a horror filmmaker (played by the original Last House On The Left’s David Hess) who uses real body parts in his screen shockers. Inspired by the films of Herschell Gordon Lewis (who has an onscreen role, along with his The Wizard Of Gore star Ray Sager), the movie also features adult-film star Sasha Grey, Jesse Buck and Fango fave Michael Berryman. Demarbre and Hess will introduce the Grindhouse showing—Smash Cut’s only big-screen engagement in La—and take part in a Q&A afterward.

The much-talked about H.G. Lewis-inspired Smash Cut has been added to our Fango Film Fest for the inaugural Fangoria Trinity Of Terrors taking place October 30 through November 1 at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas!
Able Whitman (David Hess - appearing at The Trinity!) is a horror-film director whose movies are panned by critics and audiences alike — until he starts killing people and using their body parts as props in his new flick.
Now, only intrepid Smash Cut. reporter April Carson (Sasha Grey) and celebrated private detective Isaac Beaumonde (Jesse Buck) stand between the demonic director and his unquenchable thirst for butchery at 24 frames per second!
Inspired by the career and filmography of Herschell Gordon Lewis, Smash Cut is a gore-splattered satire of the blood sport known as filmmaking.
This director's cut bleeds!
Smash Cut joins our Film Fest program which will be held in the Brenden Theatres inside the Palms Casino.

- Anyone seeing Smash Cut without knowing anything about it could be forgiven for thinking it's a bad film. But when viewed within its context as a tribute to the filmic ouevre of Herschell Gordon Lewis (Color me Blood Red, 2000 Maniacs), the king of grindhouse and exploitation cinema of the 60s and 70s, director Lee Demarbre's (Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, The Dead Sleep Easy) homage can't be seen as anything but good, bloody, campy fun. And there's nothing wrong with that. Featuring a cast of grindhouse and/or B-movie legends like David Hess (the original Last House on the Left), Michael Berryman (the original The Hills Have Eyes), and Ray Sager (the original Wizard of Gore himself!), plus a H.G. Lewis appearance and a mainstream(!) film debut for adult film starlet Sasha Grey, Smash Cut tells the story of down-and-out movie director Able Whitman (Hess, looking like he's having
