While "Think Like A Man" doesn't usually fall into our regular wheelhouse, we'll likely track this down for one reason -- another chance to see Kevin Hart and Romany Malco trade words. The comic duo last featured together in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" in a sequence that still remains highly quoted around the Playlist office. So here's hoping they are least bring some of that same energy to their scenes here.
An adaptation of Steve Harvey's self-help book, "Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man," the film finds Hart playing a relationship expert who has no problems handing out advice, but can't keep his own love life in order. Tim Story ("Fantastic Four," "Barbershop") directs from a script by Keith Merryman and David A. Newman (who both wrote "Friends With Benefits"), and the rest of the cast isn't too shabby either, featuring Taraji P. Henson, Gabrielle Union, Michael Ealy,...

24 hours and (according to host Steve Jones) 30 million votes later, “X-Factor” reached the semifinals. After introducing the judges, Jones clarified the voting-and-results protocol going forward: there will be no more “sing for survival” performances, and the voting public alone will decide who sticks around and who goes home.
Contestants Melanie Amaro, Marcus Canty, Chris Rene and Josh Krajcik then took the stage to sing a mash-up of Blackstreet’s “No Diggity” and Tears For Fears’ “Shout.” Krajcik looked visibly...

Sometimes reality shows offer shocking results. Thursday (Dec. 15) wasn't one of those nights as Marcus Canty was bounced from "The X Factor."
For many, this outcome was long overdue. He'd spent three consecutive weeks in the "Bottom Two," fighting off challenges from LeRoy Bell, Drew Ryniewicz and last week's shocker against Rachel Crow. But the competition was just too much this week and he was sent packing.
During his elimination, the always affable Canty reacted as you might expect, disappointed but appreciative. He was thankful for the opportunity.
"God blessed me so much," he says moments after being voted off. "It's not over yet."
Canty's fate was seemingly sealed during Wednesday's (Dec. 14) performances. His version of "I'll Make Love To You" drew a tepid response from the panel. But things got worse during his dance remix version of "Careless Whisper," especially from Simon Cowell who trashed the performance.
"That was horrific.

In perfectly exploitative fashion, “X-Factor” began with a recap of judge Nicole Scherzinger’s spectacularly disastrous decision last week to send the competition into deadlock, and inadvertently, to send 13-year-old Rachel Crow home. While the mounting pressure must be enormous on the judges to choose which acts truly deserve to go forward, Scherzinger made a fatal, irresponsible miscalculation in not voting, precisely because it’s supposed to be her expertise which helps shepherd performers with real promise past the ones with,...

The pressure is mounting during the waning days of "The X Factor." And just as the singers up their game, the behind the scenes stories get more interesting too.
Here the best of what happened when the cameras stopped rolling:
The Boo Birds are back: Rachel Crow fans have not yet forgiven Nicole Scherzinger for her voting gaffe that sent the 13-year-old home. How do we know? During the introduction of the judges, Scherzinger heard it from the crowd, loudly.
Wait. Where is that disembodied voice coming from? Marcus Canty began his performance of the Boyz II Men song "I'll Make Love To You" while standing directly behind Simon Cowell. The only person who seemed unaware of this was Cowell, who looked around and couldn't figure out where the singing came from. After a moment it all made sense. Cowell hated it anyway.

It's down to the Final Four on "The X Factor." Within a matter of days, one of the remaining contestants will win the grand prize of $5 million and a recording contract.
The road to this point has been filled with struggle, angst and elation. And the hardest part is yet to come. However each of these singers took a moment to think about what they're looking forward to after the show is over and what's the first thing they'd buy with their new-found wealth.
Here are their responses...

It appears that many HollywoodLifers are still angry with Nicole after she caused Rachel Crow's elimination! In reaction to a December 9 "Bonnie Says," many fans agreed that it was cowardly for Nicole Scherzinger to not choose Rachel Crow or Marcus Canty, leading to Rachel's ousting from the show. Here's what a few of you had to say about the dramatic elimination: St Elgyn: "Nicole, you shouldn’t voted such super talented Rachel out of this competiton, she deserved a second chance if you made your professional decision and not the Deadlock.. you had destroyed this little talented Rachel’s dreams and you should responsible the consequence;(" Magdalana:"Well Ya, her job is a Judge!!! Sometimes gentility can get the better of you. And that's exactly what happened to Nicole Scherzinger during Thursday's (Dec. 8) elimination round on "The X Factor."
The judge and former reality show contestant voted to send 13-year-old Rachel Crow home, thereby creating a 2-2 deadlock on the panel. This left it up to the public, who ultimately kept Marcus Canty for another week. This result dropped Crow to her knees and sent a sobbing Scherzinger to the dressing room amidst a chorus of boos.
But to hear Scherzinger explain her logic, it was simply a way to bring a dignified end to Canty's run on the show. It was an effort that backfired.
"This is [Canty's] third time in the bottom. And Rachel's never been in the bottom," Scherzinger says. "So the probability was that America would have sent Marcus home."
Scherzinger then explains her emotional response when the total votes saved...

Holy cow! What an elimination night on "The X Factor." While nothing could be as dramatic as Rachel Crow crumpling to the stage, the audience reaction was a close second. And there was other behind-the-scenes intrigue at the singing competition.
Here the best of what happened when the cameras stopped rolling:
We've got the beat? - Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid both sat quietly and seemingly unimpressed during Lenny Kravitz's performance. By contrast, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were out of their seats taking it in as if it was a concert. And it kinda was.
Play it again Sam - Marcus Canty saw success a few weeks ago with his performance of "I'm Going Down." And he went back to the well with Mary J. Blige, who herself covered the song in 1995, in the house. Perhaps that's what pulled him back from the brink again.

It's double elimination week for "The X Factor." Happy Thanksgiving! Do you think we should just assume it's Astro and Lakoda Rayne going home? Or should we actually listen to them sing?
Guess we should let them sing. So here we go. The theme is giving thanks and whatnot, so they are dedicating their songs to someone they want to thank. Get those tissues handy (or rotten tomatoes, whatever floats your boat).
I want to be snarky, but I'm already crying at Rachel's video package. Geez.
1. Rachel Crow, "I Believe," Yolanda Adams
I'm not sure what is happening with her outfit, but she sounds awesome. Is that a bed sheet tied around her waist over top of her maitre d' uniform? No clue. This song is perfect for her. It stays in her big take-us-to-church lane and doesn't revert back to the teenybopper crap that plagued her for the first two live weeks.

Washington, Nov 17: Fox Network is putting a stop to sexy dance moves on Simon Cowell's X Factor, deeming them too raunchy.
This week contestant Marcus Canty's performance had to be totally re-choreographed because Fox lawyers banned his moves in the performance, branding it 'too raunchy for TV'.
"Brian Friedman had choreographed this routine where we are pretty scantily clad and Marcus dances through our legs, but we've had had to change it," RadarOnline.com quoted a contestant as saying.
"We got told that the Fox lawyers say its 'too much' and too sexy, so now we're having to find new moves to replace it and we've.

Alright, we're at the Top 10 "X Factor" fans. Do you think Lakoda Rayne can survive so Paula Abdul has something to do? Or maybe we don't want them to and then Paula can just drink and be mouthy towards Simon for the next eight weeks. That'd be Ok too.
Oh, and this is Rock Week. Hmmm.
1. LeRoy Bell, "We've Got Tonight," Bob Seger
Great song. Great. So pumped about this. Vocally, it's gorgeous. It's like if Seger met Motown. I don't get what L.A. says about him being boring. This is wonderful to listen to and then when the song really kicks up, it gets more exciting. LeRoy isn't a run-around-the-stage singer. I went to a Billy Joel concert once and he barely moved and it was still great. Not all performers have to be crazy all the time, which is something L.A. has definitely made his boys do.

Coming second, Nicole Scherzinger's Over 30s managed to scoop 17.4%, with Stacy Francis, LeRoy Bell and Josh Krajcik holding onto a respectable following. The "X Factor’s" choreographer, Brian Friedman has worked with some of the biggest pop stars in our time, from Mariah Carey and Britney Spears , to the legendary Michael Jackson . In an exclusive interview with toofab , the 34-year-old choreographer is dishing on what goes on backstage at “X Factor” – plus – (what we all really want to know!) -- What Simon Cowell is really like! toofab: How many days do the "X Factor" contestants have to learn the choreography? Friedman: They’ve got two rehearsals. Off the actual stage you do a rehearsal studio, and in that rehearsal studio they have one rehearsal, that’s it. One rehearsal, where they need to learn all their staging, and the next time we see them is at the sound check. And that’s where they have to get on stage and perform it for their mentor, for the first time, and obviously it...

X Factor USA contestant Marcus Canty has said that he wanted to "connect" with Rihanna during his Judges' Houses performance. Rihanna joined Canty's mentor La Reid as a guest judge in the Hamptons when he whittled down his eight contestants to the four who would perform on this week's live show. Canty performed 'All My Life' by Casey & JoJo, prompting Rihanna to later tell Reid: "To see how confident he was... he looked dead in my eyes and I couldn't even look at him anymore. I felt like a fan. "He made me feel really good with that performance." When asked by Access Hollywood after this week's live show if he had been flirting with the singer, Canty said: "It's funny, when I sang to Rihanna I was more trying to get her to connect to me when I was singing (more)...

It was an emotional first night of live performances at "The X Factor." Tempers flared, tears flowed and the audience roared.
Last night we saw five acts get voted out. This means only 12 finalists remain. But before we close the book on this week, here's some post-show reaction from the judges and singers following the two-and-a-half hour musical extravaganza.
Melanie Amaro on having been voted out only to be brought back: "It's been an emotional roller coaster. And right now I just need to keep my head on and remember I've been given a second chance."
Marcus Canty on performing Culture Club's "Do you really want to hurt me": "I heard it on 'Shrek' and all I knew was the Gingerbread man singing it. So when I went and researched it and was looking at the video, I was like 'Ok L.A. Reid. Is this what you want me to sing?...

Last night's "X Factor" was a two-and-a-half hour blast of flashing lights, thunderous music and spit-fire fast performances and eliminations. Was this "American Gladiator" we were watching? No, it was the first live show of creator Simon Cowell's British import, which made "American Idol" look like Disney by comparison with all of the barbs thrown at each other and instant, ruthless farewells that brought the crop of 17 contestants down to a final 12.
Like NBC's "The Voice," the four judges -- Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, La Reid and Cowell -- each mentored over four groups -- Groups, Over 30, Boys and Girls, respectively -- cherry-picking songs, sketching out choreography and mentoring the hopeful contestants over the past two weeks. Most of the night was spent with the three judges teaming up against surlier-than-ever Cowell, whose snide remarks about their mentorship and song choices could be considered a ploy to boost ratings...

For his first live show "X Factor" performance, Marcus Canty was given "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" by mentor L.A. Reid. What did you think?
We weren't really on board with Marcus until this performance. It was the strongest of the boys' category tonight, we thought. The slow opening was gorgeous and once the beat dropped, it sounded really current.
The judges were very complimentary. Mentor L.A. Reid said Marcus really stpped up to the plate and made him proud. What did you think, "X Factor" fans? Was he your favorite boy of the night too?...

We finally find out the format for the "X Factor" Top 17. Each group performs and each judge sends home one person from his or her group (Simon has to cut two girls) and that gives us the Top 12 that presumably the American public will get to start voting on.
Also, I have to apologize right up front if I can't identify all the songs. They're doing mash-ups and I don't know them all and they don't tell us, which is really irksome.
The Boys
1. Astro, "Jump" and something else
I'm not entirely sure what the song was - Astro's original lyrics mashed-up with the chorus of "Jump" by Kriss Kross? Hmm. Anyway, it was good. He's a very talented rapper. The lyrics with "X Factor" added in were dumb. That needs to stop, it's like when artists insert the name of the town where they're performing into their lyrics to get crowd response (i.

X Factor eliminated Tiah,Simone,Dexter,Brewer Boys & Phillip tonight in 1st live show. In tonight's first X-Factor elimination and live show, L.A. Reid's group of 4 final boys performed first. Little 14 year old rapper Brian (Astro) Bradley hit the stage to do an updated rap version for Kriss Kross' 1992 hit "Jump," and he turned it out. He had everyone jumping. It was awesome. Next up, was Chris Rene. He sung a ballet. The judges thought he did good, but Nichole didn't particularly like the song selection. After that, jazz singer Phillip Lomax hit the stage to sing a fast, uptempo song. Simon and Nichole didn't like the song selection, but thought he was a good singer. Finally,Marcus Canty rocked the stage with a very soulful, entertaining performance. Afterwards, L.A. decided to send Phillip Lomax home, and sent Brian,Chris, and Marcus to the next round. After the break,...

The second half of the final 32 "X Factor" acts performed in front of the judges at their respective homes on Sunday's episode, vying for spots in the top 16. Those 16 will compete in the show's live episodes and ultimately battle it out for a $5 million recording contract.
The judges were joined by celebrity consultants for this round. Rihanna partnered with L.A. Reid at his home in the Hamptons to evaluate the boys; Pharrell Williams helped Paula Abdul critique the groups in Santa Barbara, California; and Enrique Iglesias assisted Nicole Scherzinger while she evaluated the over-30s at her home in Malibu, California. It's day two of Boot Camp and it's about to get serious. Today, we whittle the remaining 100 hopefuls down to just 32 and find out which category - Boys, Girls, Groups or Over 30s - each judge will be mentoring. As the competition heats up, panelists Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and La Reid certainly have their work cut out for them in deciding who goes on to Judges' Houses. However, before we can get that far, the remaining groups, consisting of six contestants thrown together for an ensemble performance, must take the stage in hopes of impressing the judges and standing out as a unique and phenomenal act. First up is a group consisting of Brennin Hunt, Equality, Marcus Canty, Matthew Johnson, Ma'at Bingham Shango, Chris Rene and his sister, Gina Rene. They'll be performing Marvin Gaye's 'What's Goin' (more)...

After a relatively sane four audition episodes, "X Factor" got down to business on Thursday night (October 6), when the second evening of boot camp helped cull the herd down to the semifinal contender class.
While some early favorites such as Siameze Floyd and adorable not-yet couple McKenna and Brock cracked under the pressure, others, including Chris Rene, Josh Krajcik and cutie brother act the Brewer Boys, survived the group competition and punched their ticket to the next round.
The two-night boot camp episode reduced the 162 contenders to 32, with eight in each of the four categories: boys, girls, over-30s and groups. After 62 acts were lopped at the top of Wednesday night's show, half of the remaining singers were put into groups that got help from vocal coaches,...

All the hype for Simon Cowell's new show came to a thunderous end last night, as we were introduced to a two-hour premiere of his UK export "The X Factor." Positioned as a singing competition wherein the judges nurture selected contestants -- who, unlike American Idol, have no age restrictions and can be either group or solo act -- the show cost a reported $100 million, meaning Simon's pulled out all of the flashing red-light stops.
We began with a futuristic opening sequence of third-person reporting about the judges, news anchor-style, with the names of the judges zapped into the show -- La Reid, Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, and of course Cowell. Speaking of Cowell, did he get some work done recently, or was it just the heavy-handed guyliner that made him look especially puckered on last night's show? Other questions abound: Who is host Steve Jones? Why was he...

Some "American Idol"-esque music welcomes us to "The X Factor," though the graphics belie aliens are invading the Earth. The judges arrive at the first location and the audience goes predictably nuts.
Los Angeles
The first person we see is 13-year-old Rachel Crow. Well, seeing as how she's first and really young, I'm expecting big things. She hilariously talks about how her family has no money, which isn't funny but she's funny. She sings "Mercy" and even though her dance moves are super dorky, her voice is pretty great. It's not seasoned, but for a 13-year-old girl it's spectacular and the seasoning will come. Obviously she is through - Simon says she's the reason they were right to take the age limit down.
Check out Rachel's performance here.

It was the premiere you/we/I (choose one) have been dying for since Lee DeWyze croaked out “Beautiful Day” and ended Simon Cowell’s American Idol tenure back in May 2010. Yes, folks, The X Factor finally reached U.S. shores Wednesday night, and over the course of its two-hour maiden voyage, I counted at least a half-dozen acts who, on first impression, looked like they had a legitimate chance at the $5 million prize — and not one of whom left Paula Abdul flushing out her eyes and rinsing bile from her mouth in a tiny backstage bathroom, either.
