Michael Keaton is not only returning to his iconic role as Batman in the upcoming The Flash, now Deadline is reporting that Keaton is going back to his comedic roots in a similar role that got Batman purists to literally protest his initial casting in the first place. Keaton’s reputation for being a goofball in silly comedies such as Mr. Mom initially led fans to think his being placed in the Batman role meant that the studio was not taking the property seriously. How wrong they were!
Keaton will be starring in Goodrich. The synopsis reads, “Set in contemporary LA during the holidays, the film tells the story of art dealer Andy Goodrich (Keaton), a man whose life is upended when his younger second wife leaves him and enters a 90-day rehab program while also threatening divorce. The Conners is preparing for the imminent arrival of another classic Roseanne character.
Ahead of the premiere of The Conners Season 5, EPs David Caplan and Bill Helford told TV Line that fans should expect a sudden appearance from someone from the past.
“I can’t reveal it, but there is someone coming from years’ past,” Helford told the outlet.
“It was a very memorable appearance when this person was there, and this person is coming back.”
We're well into The Conners Season 5 now, and TV Line caught back up with Helford to get an update on the situation.
“Oh yeah, still happening,” Helford told TV Line this week.
“I don’t want to tell you much… It could very well be after the first of the new year.”
Sounds promising, right?
Helford went on to say the returning character is a male.

Azrael: Everything We Know So Far About The Samara Weaving Action Horror From The You're Next Writer
The reign of Samara Weaving in the horror genre is far from over. Deadline exclusively revealed that the "Ready or Not" actress will be starring in a mysterious new movie from screenwriter Simon Barrett, who wrote "You're Next" and "The Guest." Simply titled "Azrael," this film is billed as an action-horror, an intriguing genre mashup that can be associated with movies like "Predator" and "Overlord."
While little is known about the movie, we do know that it will likely be Barrett's last horror movie for an indefinite amount of time. The screenwriter, a longtime collaborator of director Adam Wingard, revealed this in a Twitter post.
"Azrael is the reason I've spent the last month in Estonia working with my friends E.L. Katz and Dan Kagan. This will also be my last horror project for a long while, because we're putting everything scary we've got into this one. Very excited, but...

The 1990s reggae rock band Sublime will get the biopic treatment from 3000 Pictures and Chernin Entertainment with “Hunger Games” filmmaker Francis Lawrence directing and “Ozark” showrunner Chris Mundy writing the script, Sony Pictures said Thursday.
The film will tell the story of how Long Beach musicians Bradley Nowell, Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh became the leading figures of the ’90s alternative rock wave with a trio of albums that fused rock, reggae and ska punk among other influences. Block party scheduled for Lanford: The Conners will return for a fifth season at ABC.
The Bruce Helford comedy remains ABC’s second-highest Wednesday comedy following The Goldbergs, and has been a steady performer for the network.
The Roseanne spinoff kicked off its fourth season with a live premiere that drew a .6 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.37 million viewers. Despite all the early drama involving Roseanne Barr — who originally starred in the follow-up to the iconic sitcom Roseanne — the comedy has skillfully proved that a reboot can still thrive if it features popular stars like Sara Gilbert, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf and Lecy Goranson.
A pickup for the sitcom seemed all but certain after the studio reached new pacts last month with Gilbert (who also serves as an executive producer), Goodman, Metcalf and Goranson. The actors didn’t have standard six-year contracts because of the way the spinoff came...

Did your heart ache watching Dan Conner set fire to the bedroom set he bought for Roseanne when they first got married?
Well, put those tissues away because we've got some exciting news!
The Conners have teamed up with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles and Charitybuzz to auction off pieces from that bedroom set and much more!
With Louise moving in, there were big changes afoot for the Conner family as Dan tried to sell the bedroom furniture he bought for Roseanne when they were first married.
In my The Conners Season 4 Episode 8 review, I mentioned how I wished Dan had considered donating the bedroom set to charity instead of setting it on fire.
Well, in a providential turn of events, the actual bedroom set may not have been burned to ashes after all! (Perhaps not everything we see on TV is real. Who knew?)

ABC’s “The Conners” isn’t really a sitcom. It’s more a “human comedy.” Just as “Roseanne”, created by star Roseanne Barr and Matt Williams, was praised for offering a realistic look at middle-class life while delivering the laughs, so too has the spinoff which is set to return to for its fourth season this fall.
This year, the sprawling Conner family living in the fictional Lanford, Illinois was hit hard by Covid-19. There was unemployment. Dan (John Goodman) nearly lost the family home. His girlfriend Louise (Katey Sagal) got the virus. Becky (Lecy Goranson) went off the wagon and into rehab where she had an emotional confrontation with her father Dan. Darlene (executive producer Sara Gilbert) and her boyfriend Ben (Jay R. Ferguson) went through some rough patches. Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) struggled to keep the restaurant Lunch Box afloat but found love with Louise’s brother Neville (Nat Faxon), the town’s vet.

Danielle Harris, Brian Austin Green and Candice Bergen will guest star on upcoming episodes of “The Conners,” ABC announced Tuesday.
Harris previously recurred on the fifth season of “Roseanne” in 1993 as Molly Tilden, the Conners’ next-door neighbor and a high school rival for David’s (Johnny Galecki) affection. She will reprise the character for one episode airing April 7. Darlene (Sara Gilbert) and Molly were once enemies, but now, 30 years later, they find themselves having had similar lives and become close.
Green will appear on two upcoming episodes as Jeff, a “quirky, free spirit traveler who lives out of his van.”
Earlier this season, Bergen made her debut on “The Conners” as Ben’s (Jay R. Ferguson) mother, Barb. Despite being from Lanford, Barb “has a superior air and a sharp tongue, but she’s much more agreeable when she’s had a few drinks.” She will return to the series for two more episodes.

“With heavy hearts we regret to confirm that a member of our technical crew suffered a fatal medical event today,” a spokesperson for production company Carsey-Werner confirmed to TheWrap via a statement. “He was a much loved member of ‘The Conners’ and ‘Roseanne’ families for over 25 years. As we remember our beloved colleague, we ask that you respect the privacy of his family and loved ones as they begin their grieving process.”
The man was on the catwalk on Stage 22 on the CBS Studio Center when he suffered a medical emergency and was unable to be resuscitated by medics, according to TMZ. The gossip website said the man was in “his 50s or 60s” and primarily worked the lighting for the show.

The Conners is slowly returning to production at ABC.
Today on Good Morning America, star and executive producer Sara Gilbert of the beloved Roseanne spinoff debuted the all-new key art for the third season of the fan-favorite comedy, set to return to ABC on Wednesdays this fall.
While a premiere date has yet to be announced, the series is expect to be a part of the network's fall lineup, and if it returns to production as planned, it should be able to make a September or early October bow.
The poster revealed the following tagline:
"Socially distant as always," and featured the show's adult cast donning facemasks, confirming it will be addressing the Covid-19 pandemic.
If you watch The Conners online, you know the series does not shy away from real-world topics.
Instead, it embraces them with open arms and shines a lens on them from the different perspectives of the characters,...

ABC’s flagship comedy series The Conners is back in production on its upcoming 19-episode third season. I hear production started today, with the first taping slated for later this week. The multi-camera show is being shot with minimal crew and without an in-studio audience.
The Conners is believed to be the first broadcast comedy series to resume production on set. It is produced by Tom Werner’s Werner Entertainment.
Independent studios have been the most active in pursuing return to production amid the pandemic with strict Covid-19 protocols.
Sony Pictures TV’s S.W.A.T. became the first broadcast drama to start filming new episodes, while Tyler Perry was the first to start primetime series production in the U.S. with his BET shows. Sony TV’s The Goldbergs is eying a production restart in a week; The Good Doctor is looking to get filming underway in Vancouver at the end of this month.

The Conners dropped the curtain on Season 2 with the threat of imprisonment hanging over at least one family member’s head.
In the final moments of Tuesday’s closer, Becky became a reluctant accomplice when deported baby daddy (and newly-minted hubby) Emilio illegally reentered the U.S., setting up what exec producer Bruce Helford describes as a “rough” Season 3 for Beverly Rose’s parents. Sister Darlene’s relationship with Ben also faces new challenges after the former twisted the latter’s arm into using their “new house money” to bail out Dan. On a more upbeat note, Dan and Louise...

Tonight, “The Conners” joins the pantheon of live sitcom episodes with “Live From Lanford.” That’s right — the original iteration of “Roseanne” never got the chance to partake in this more contemporary sitcom rite of passage, and neither did the revival (for different reasons), but now, their successor will.
And tonight’s episode of “The Conners” isn’t just live: It’s specifically tied to the 2020 Presidential race, because why not?
The Episode
“Live From Lanford” is the 12th episode of “The Conners” Season 2. The series stars John Goodman as Dan Conner, Laurie Metcalf as Jackie Harris, Sara Gilbert as Darlene Conner, Lecy Goranson as Becky Conner-Healy, Michael Fishman as D.J. Conner, Emma Kenney as Harris Conner-Healy, Ames McNamara as Mark Conner-Healy, and Jayden Rey as Mary Conner.
Here is the official live episode synopsis, from ABC:
