After establishing the Behavioral Science Unit at the end of Season 1 and prioritizing it with the arrival of Ted Gunn (Michael Cerveris) in early Season 2, Mindhunter got to the business of pulling its team apart. At the midpoint of Season 2, Wendy Carr (Anna Torv) is exploring more of a personal life, dating a sexy bartender and nudging closer to coming out to her colleagues. Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) is drawn into the case of the child abductions and murders in Atlanta, and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) is dealing with a nightmare at home.

While Mindhunter was spending its first four episodes introducing the audience to the rich and rewarding buddy-cop relationship between FBI agents Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) and Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff), the show was also quietly introducing my favorite character, Dr. Wendy Carr. I had simply watched far too much Fringe not to be enraptured when Anna Torv appeared on screen with an unfussy bob haircut and a doctorate in psychology.

Anna Torv is an actress from the land down under. The Aussie is most known for her appearances as Olivia Dunham on the science fiction series Fringe and Wendy Carr on the crime thriller series Mindhunter. Needless to say, she has quite an extensive filmography. As recognition for her numerous works onscreen, the actress has received a handful of accolades in her day. Torv also notably played Tess in the TV adaptation of the acclaimed video game, The Last of Us. That’s just one nifty fact about her, read on for a handful more. 1. Anna Torv Is A Gemini...

Hulu announced its forthcoming “Mastermind” docuseries based on the life of nurse and longtime FBI consultant Dr. Ann Burgess on Friday.
Hailing from Campfire Studios in association with Dakota and Elle Fanning’s Lewellen Pictures, the four part documentary tells the harrowing stories of infamous criminal cases through the unique lens of the woman who helped solve them – Burgess, who spent her nearly six-decade career hunting serial killers and advocating for justice, reads the official logline.
Burgess is the visionary member of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit who revolutionized the way law enforcement investigates serial killers. As the architect of the FBI’s “mindhunter” method, Dr. Burgess (made famous by the fictionalized Wendy Carr of David Fincher’s “Mindhunter”) spent her career interviewing and studying convicted serial killers, gleaning insight to apply to unsolved cases. Dakota and Elle Fanning will produce the docuseries “Mastermind,” about Dr. Ann Burgess of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit, Hulu announced on Friday. The sisters’ Lewellen Pictures teams with Campfire Studios for the true-crime project.
Burgess spent her career interviewing and studying convicted serial killers, gleaning insight to apply to unsolved cases. She revolutionized the way law enforcement investigates serial killers and was the architect of the FBI’s “mindhunter” method, as shown in David Fincher’s Netflix series of the same name. Anna Torv starred in the show as the Burgess-inspired character Wendy Carr.
“Mastermind” will draw from Burgess’ 2021 book “A Killer by Design: Murders, Mindhunters, and My Quest to Decipher Criminal Minds,” and exclusive access to her personal records. The docuseries will tell the story of her defining cases as well as shed light on the often-forgotten anti-rape movement of the late ’60s and early ’70s.

I admit: I've come to "Mindhunter" very late in the game. The show, which follows FBI agents Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) and Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and behavioral psychology consultant Wendy Carr (Anna Torv) working together to research the minds of serial killers, first aired on Netflix all the way back in 2017. I have only just started watching it this year, but even though I'm a little late, I am still supremely upset that there are only two seasons — the last having aired in 2019 — with no real sign of a third ever getting made.

“The Last of Us” series at HBO has cast Anna Torv in a recurring guest star role.
Torv joins previously announced series leads Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as well as cast members Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandrige, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlet, Con O’Neill, and Jeffery Pierce.
“The Last of Us” series was first announced as being in development at the premium cabler last March, with the show landing a formal series order in November. Based on the video game of the same name, the series takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Ramsey) out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
Torv will appear as Tess, a smuggler and hardened survivor in a post-pandemic world.

All signs pointed to true crime drama Mindhunter being donezo at Netflix. The second season came and went last August with nary a world about a third season. Then Netflix went ahead and confirmed that the show was in a holding (not Holden) pattern with all the actors released from their contracts.
Now, the most authoritative source of them all, director David Fincer, has confirmed what we pretty much already knew. There will be no more seasons of Mindhunter, at least not for the foreseeable future.
In an interview with Vulture to promote Fincher’s upcoming film Mank, the director broke the news of Mindhunter’s de facto cancellation.
“Listen, for the viewership that it had, it was an expensive show,” Fincher told Vulture. “We talked about ‘Finish Mank and then see how you feel,’ but I honestly don’t think we’re going to be able to do it...

Cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt expanded the visual aesthetic of David Fincher’s “Mindhunter” in Season 2, as FBI profilers Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) and Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) investigate the notorious Atlanta Child Murders, and, as a result, he earned his first Emmy nomination.
“Our aim was to continue what we had developed in Season 1 while considering location with a bit more depth,” said Messerschmidt, who also shot Fincher’s “Mank,” the Netflix black-and-white biopic about “Citizen Kane” screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz (Gary Oldman). “David expressed to me in the beginning to never forget what Atlanta is like in the summer. I tried hard to consider that whenever we were telling that part of the story.
“We really wanted our agents to be visualized with location in mind,” he said, “so I used more hard sunlight, atmosphere, and contrast to contribute to that hot, muggy feel. I think you could make the...

Even with the start of the new year 2020, we're still hauling around the baggage of sexism into the workplace. Heck, sexism in any capacity, even beyond the workplace!
Women continue fighting for equal pay, a place in politics, and a moment when men aren't seen as superior and more capable simply because of their gender.
It's apparent that this battle is still relevant as many current network TV shows are pushing representation all across the board for this should-be outdated norm.
Here's our list of TV shows putting in the good fight!

“He loves specificity and ambiguity,” reveals actor Michael Cerveris of famed director David Fincher. The performer joined Season 2 of Fincher’s crime drama “Mindhunter” as Ted Gunn, the new unit chief of the behavioral science division. The multi-talented Cerveris speaks about his character on the Netflix drama as well as his music endeavors with his band Loose Cattle. Watch the exclusive video interview above.
The ambiguity that Fincher craves certainly resonates within Cerveris’ depiction of Gunn. The actor explains that the character is “specific and intentional” in his actions, but those intentions are always a bit murky. This trait is embodied in the way Gunn interviews the main characters in the season premiere. Fincher told the actor to “find ways to mirror each of them.” The result is a fascinating game, with Cerveris squinting and hunching towards Holt McCallany’s Bill Trench, but adopting a more open, calming aura for Anna Torv’s Wendy Carr.

(Some major spoilers ahead for season 2 of “Mindhunter” on Netflix)
After season 1 of “Mindhunter” spent most of its time outside work — that is, in scenes that aren’t focused on the FBI’s study of serial killers — with Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff), season 2 goes a different way. This time around, the Netflix series focuses very little on Holden’s personal life, instead spending a lot more time with the other two main members of his team, Dr. Wendy Carr (Anna Torv) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany)
For Bill, his personal story revolves around an incident with his son, Brian (Zachary Scott Ross), which threatens to tear the Tench family to pieces. Early in the season, the corpse of a toddler is found in a house that is being sold by Bill’s wife Nancy (Stacey Roca), who has started working as a realtor. After a fairly short investigation, the local...

Netflix's psychological thriller Mindhunter first premiered back in 2017, a 10-episode drama based on the true crime book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit. Now that it's returned for a second season, you might be wondering once more: is it based on a true story? Pretty much.
The three main characters on Mindhunter are based on real people, though they aren't exact copies. The two FBI special agents from the bureau's Behavioral Science Unit are Holden Ford and Bill Tench, played by Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany, respectively. Those two men are based on John E. Douglas (who co-authored the book on which Mindhunter is based) and Robert K. Ressler.
Douglas, now 74 years old, is one of the first criminal profilers in the United States. After serving in the Air Force, he went to work for the FBI in 1970 - first as a sniper in the Swat...

Mindhunter Season 2 introduces Ted Gunn and removes some red tape to allow the series to focus on what matters: the cases.
The following contains spoilers for Mindhunter season 2.
One of the biggest draws of Mindhunter, David Fincher’s true crime-inspired Netflix series, is the way that it details the origins of criminal profiling on the homicidal and insane. Countless times, in a myriad of TV series and movies, we’ve seen hotshot detectives and brainy FBI agents track down murderers and bring them to justice, but seldomly have audiences been asked to think about the way these sleuths developed the tools to crack these cases and make sense of the twisted minds that perpetrated them.
On the series, it’s genuinely exciting to see Agent Holden Ford coin the term “serial killer” or, alongside Agent Bill Tench and Dr. Wendy Carr, deduce that many of these psychopathic crimes contain sexual elements.

The story of Dennis Rader a.k.a. Btk continues in Mindhunter season 2. Here is what's happened on his show within the show.

Netflix's Mindhunter season 2 continues the story of Holden Ford, Bill Tench, and Wendy Carr as they establish what will come to be known as the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit. Like in the show's first season, however, there is another story operating alongside the detectives' work - mostly unbeknownst to them.
Both Mindhunter season 1 and Mindhunter season 2 have presented little vignettes from days in the life of one of America's most infamous and terrifying serial killers: Dennis Rader a.k.a The Bind-Torture-Kill (Btk) killer. What's interesting and novel about the show's approach to Btk's story is how disconnected it is from the main narrative Holden, Bill, and Wendy operate in.

The new season of Netflix’s hit series “Mindhunter” dropped Aug. 16, and this year the series finds FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) taking on the Atlanta child murders, which unfolded between 1979 and 1981, with 28 African Americans slaughtered in Georgia. No one has ever been charged for the murders.
According to a new feature in the Los Angeles Times, Netflix has confirmed that the “Mindhunter” team did not consult the families of the victims in the killings, two of whom feature prominently in the season — Camille Bell, the mother of nine-year-old Yusuf Bell, who was found dead in 1979, and Venus Taylor, the mother of 12-year-old Angel Lenair, who was found dead in 1980. The investigation is currently being reopened, and with the new attention the issues of racial injustice inherent to the case are coming to the forefront.

Netflix has not forgotten about Mindhunter after all.
Mindhunter executive producer/director David Fincher announced during an appearance on The Treatment‘s Elvis Mitchell podcast, that Season 2 will premiere on Friday, August 16.
What's more, the second season will span eight episodes, two fewer than the freshman run.
The freshman run aired on Netflix back in October 2017, so fans have been on tenterhooks eagerly awaiting a premiere date for the new run for quite some time.
The best part of this news? August 16 is not that far away, so there's that.

Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany will be back for the new episodes as FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench, while Anna Torv will return in the role of psychology professor Wendy Carr.

Fincher is known to be a perfectionist with long shoots and multiple takes, but Groff notes that “this is the first time he’s ever come back to a second season,” so it has been “inspirational to watch him come back like it’s a brand new project, and there’s nothing taken for granted.” Torv adds, “It...
