Toby Keith follows up the poignant ballad “Don’t Let the Old Man In” with a raucous blast of country-music pride. “That’s Country Bro” is a classic list song, but instead of the usual run-through of rural imagery (trucks, bonfires and coolers), Keith ticks off a Hall of Fame-worthy roster of country singers.
Jimmie Rodgers, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Roy Acuff, Johnny Horton, Bill Monroe, Woody Guthrie and Bob Wills all get shout-outs in the first 18 seconds, followed by Kitty Wells, Jimmy Dean, Hank Snow and even Spade Cooley.

It's pretty amazing how many ways studios have devised to market and re-market The Three Stooges. The latest attempt is Sony's made-to-order 3 DVD set titled Rare Treasures from the Columbia Vault. It's a bit misleading in that the bulk of the material pertains to individual short films starring Stooge cast members, but for this reviewer, that's also what makes the set so special. There are eleven hours of material in the set including two feature films and 28 shorts. The features are Rockin' in the Rockies, a 1945 musical comedy that features the Stooges as inept prospectors in the modern west. The film seems to have been made to promote promising musical talent of the day. The story has the boys kidnapping a Broadway talent agent and holding him hostage until he hears their friends perform their revue, which includes numbers by Spade Cooley, the "King of Western...

Tom Cruise's pregnant fiancee Katie Holmes has pulled out of her new film Shame On You, because she fears the stress of filming will harm her unborn child. The 26-year-old Batman Begins actress was contracted to star as Spade Cooley's wife in Dennis Quaid's movie biopic of the late swing legend. The news will cause further delay to filming in New Orleans - which has already been postponed because of the chaos caused by Hurricane Katrina. The Hollywood couple, who have yet to set a date for their forthcoming wedding, announced they were expecting their first child together two weeks ago.

Dennis Quaid is set to star in, write and direct a biopic about the controversial 1940s Western swing star Spade Cooley titled Shame on You. Katie Holmes is in talks to play Cooley's wife, whom he killed in front of their teenage daughter in 1961. Cooley spent the '60s in prison for his crime and was released in 1969 to perform a benefit concert, where he died from a heart attack backstage. Holly Wiersma, one of the producers of the upcoming Happy Endings, is set to produce the feature and is finalizing financing.
