It's difficult to find a celebrity with a more rock-solid public image than Beyonce - remember when the president said she "could not be a better role model for my girls"? You don't get a much bigger endorsement than that. And yet as the singer herself would no doubt attest, she's far from perfect. Here's the thing: I respect Beyonce as an artist and performer - she is supremely talented - and her philanthropic efforts are well-documented. But she's certainly not "flawless": witness the joyful photos she took with poor imprisoned baby tigers and elephants at a Thailand animal attraction over her vacation. Guess what? She and Jay Z deserve to be chastised for this. And it wouldn't be the first time. Here are four more things Beyonce has justifiably drawn scorn for. 1. The time she accepted six figures to perform at a party thrown by the family of...

Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker is not flattered — nor angry — about claims that Beyoncé's "Countdown" video pays unattributed homage to one of her clips.
"Like so many people, I was extremely surprised when I got a message through Facebook about the special appearance of my two choreographies — 'Rosas danst Rosas' (1983) and 'Achterland' (1990) — in Beyoncé's new videoclip 'Countdown,' " De Keersmaeker wrote in a statement on the Performance Club website on Monday.
Not long after the clip for B's latest debuted, a number of websites pointed out the similarities between De Keersmaeker's work and the steps in Beyoncé's video. Before those side-by-side comparisons started popping up, the video's director,...

Beyonce has been getting a ton of buzz for her new video for "Countdown," in which she shows off her baby bump and went for a retro look, channeling Audrey Hepburn. But the buzz isn't all good and the pregnant diva has been accused of ripping off dance moves by Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.
According to AceShowbiz.com De Keersmaker told a Danish blog that she had not been asked permission for her choreography to be performed, "I didn't know anything about it. I'm not mad, but this is plagiarism," she said.
The video contains two dance routines that have come under scrutiny, reports The Gaurdian.
The first uses a spit-screen effect with Beyonce on the left and three ballet dancers performing a routine on the right, that closely resembles moves that appear in the Belgian choreographer's first work with her company, Rosas Danst Rosas. In another part of the video,...

Beyonce has recently released the video for her new single "Countdown" and some viewers have noticed some startling similarities between her video and moves from Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.
The above video, which we found courtesy of D-Listed, shows Beyonce's video side by side with movies from De Keersmaeker. Now, perhaps Beyonce had nothing to do with it, but it sure looks like somebody involved in the "Countdown" video is familiar with De Keersmaeker's work.
This is not the first time Beyonce has been accused of borrowing from another source. After her May 2011 performance at the Billboard Music Awards, people took notice that her performance looked suspiciously like a performance by Italian pop star Lorella Cuccarini. Beyonce owned up then, saying, "My makeup artist showed me the performance of Lorella Cuccarini a year ago, and it inspired me so much."
So perhaps Beyonce was just inspired by De Keersmaeker?...

There’s no question that Beyonce’s performance of “Run the World (Girls)” at Saturday’s Billboard Awards was one of the highlights, but now there’s a controversy as to how she came up with the performance. The Huffington Post has an article on the controversy, citing that much of Beyonce’s performance is modeled after Lorella Cuccarini’s performance in 2010. “My makeup artist showed me the performance of Lorella Cuccarini a year ago, and it inspired me so much,” Beyonce said to AOL Music. “I then met the talented people who worked on it. The technology and concept were so genius. Thank [G]od for YouTube or I would have never been exposed to...

The songs that make the cut to Beyonce Knowles' upcoming studio album "4" have been unveiled. Twelve songs are listed in the June 28 album, and one of them titled "Party" has one and the only featured guest OutKast's Andre 3000.
Led by women-empowerment single "Run the World (Girls)", the album is opened with a ballad track called "1+1". Beyonce croons on the slow-riding jam, "Hey, I don't know much about guns but I've, I've been shot by you/ And I don't know when I'm gon' die but I hope that I'm gon' die by you."
The song is confirmed to be performed live for the first time ever on the May 25 result show of "American Idol" finale. However, fans don't have to wait any longer to get a hold of the ballad track since it's already on sale on iTunes along with the full album pre-order.

Beyoncé has responded to the controversy surrounding her performance of new single 'Run The World (Girls)' at the Billboard Music Awards last Sunday. The singer, who picked up the prestigious Billboard Millennium Award at the ceremony, took to the stage for a high-tech rendition of the track, which some say was a direct copy of a routine performed by Italian popstar Lorella Cuccarini last year. However, Beyoncé insisted that while she was "inspired" by Cuccarini, she still takes pride in the production as she worked hard to bring it all together. "My make-up artist showed me the performance of Lorella Cuccarini (more)...

Beyoncé Knowles rocked the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday with a rendition of "Run the World (Girls)" that had people talking about her incredible choreography and bold use of background graphics. Most of you seemed to love the star's hot dance moves, but now the originality of her sexy performance is in question. Italian pop singer Lorella Cuccarini put on a strikingly similar show last year, which Beyoncé admitted to being aware of. She said, "My makeup artist showed me the performance of Lorella Cuccarini a year ago, and it inspired me so much. I then met with the talented people who worked on it. The technology and concept were so genius. Thank god for YouTube or I would have never been exposed to something so inspiring." Watch both ladies on stage side by side and tell us what you think - was Beyoncé just inspired or was it a total rip-off?...

In response to allegation that Beyonce Knowles ripped off Italian artist Lorella Cuccarini's concept for her Billboard Music Awards performance, Kenzo Digital who is the media artist and film director behind those graphic visuals broke his silence. Beyonce's team indeed was initially inspired by Lorella, "but there are a lot of different inspirations for where our piece came from," he told The Amp.
"That's the thing, it's very simplistic," he continued his defensive statement. "If anything, it's a great example of how great of a performer Beyonce is. It's just a bare white screen. It's a technique in video art since the '80s in terms of frontal projection and interactive things. That's really nothing new. It's not even a new technology. It's just an incredibly simple, awesome storytelling device, and with a performer like Beyonce it becomes incredibly powerful."
