Carolyn d'Amboise was born on September 6, 1927 in Dallas, Texas, USA. She was married to Jacques d'Amboise. She died on February 10, 2009 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA.
Is an excellent photographer. Took the photographs published in the
book "Leap Year: A Year in the Life of a Dancer", which is an
autobiography written by her son, Christopher d'Amboise.
When she auditioned for the New York City Ballet in 1952, she was told she could join after the company's European tour. However, before the tour, she made her unscheduled debut when she was summoned from the audience to replace an ill dancer in "Swan Lake". Director George Balanchine invited her to join the tour.
