Factory in London from 1987 to 1990. He married soprano Joan
Rodgers.
He was awarded the 1998 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Outstanding
Achievement in Opera of 1997 for conducting English National Opera's
The House Of The Dead at the London Coliseum and his contribution to
English Opera.
He is the music director of the English National Opera.
He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2000 Queen's Millennium Honors List for his services to Music.
