Janet Landgard, who accompanied Burt Lancaster on a portion of his bizarre tour of backyard swimming pools in the acclaimed 1968 drama The Swimmer, has died. She was 75.
Landgard died this week after a very brief bout with brain cancer, actor Paul Petersen told The Hollywood Reporter. She recurred as his love interest on the final three seasons of the ABC family comedy The Donna Reed Show.
On Facebook, Petersen called her “the best TV girlfriend my alternate ego, Jeff Stone, ever had. Janet was gorgeous, inside and out … a flawless Scandinavian beauty that literally stunned jaded Hollywood types into silence. We were always close no matter the time or distance.”
In Columbia Pictures’ The Swimmer — directed by Frank Perry and adapted by his then-wife, Eleanor Perry, from a John Cheever short story in The New Yorker — Landgard was memorable as Julie Ann Hooper, who used to babysit Ned Merrill’s...

Lloyd Daniel’s mother has said that Simon Cowell must not like Welsh people.
On last week’s show Simon said that Lloyd looked like a “puppy taking part in the Grand National”.
Lisa Daniels told the South Wales Echo: “He’s got it in for the Welsh. I had a feeling that Lloyd would be in the bottom two, not because he didn’t do a good performance on Saturday, but Simon’s words, I thought, would have swayed the public, saying he was like a puppy trying to run in the Grand National.
“I think Simon is being a bit silly myself because last week Lloyd did really well. He is starting to show himself. But there is never any positive stuff from Simon.”
She added: “We’ve not even met Cheryl, so I can’t see myself meeting Simon. But I would ask him what he’s up to.

Following Daniels's performance of Queen track 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love', Cowell described the 16-year-old singer as looking like a "puppy taking part in the Grand National". Speaking about the judge's repeated criticism of her son, Lisa Daniels told the South Wales Echo: "He's got it in for the Welsh. I had a feeling that Lloyd would be in the bottom two, not because he didn't do a good performance on Saturday, but Simon's words, I thought, would have swayed the public, saying he was like a puppy trying to run in the Grand National. X Factor heart-throb Lloyd Daniels has reportedly got a crush on fellow contestant Lucie Jones.
The teen hunk may have split with girlfriend Molly to avoid distractions on the show. But his Mum has revealed that he may have his eye on lovely Lucie, also from Wales.
Lisa Daniels, 41, told the News of the World: ‘When he first met Lucie in the early stages of the competition, he said to me ‘mum, I’ve just met the most beautiful girl from Cardiff’.
“He said said she was absolutely stunning and lovely as well. He really liked her. Lucie and Stacey are his best friends on the show. Whenever I ring him he is with them.
“I think one of the reasons Lloyd gravitates towards Stacey is because her son Zac is close in age to his little brother Tylor who is
18-months-old.”
She added: “Lloyd thinks Cheryl is absolutely beautiful and has an incredible figure.
