Orphan Black is one of the finest sci-fi TV shows, so a new story set in that universe will always be interesting.
Orphan Black: Echoes is the name of the next chapter, and while it will be similar to its predecessor, it will also have some notable changes.
The original Orphan Black focused on a series of clones flawlessly played by Tatiana Maslany.
Each clone had distinct personalities and mannerisms, showcasing Maslany’s impressive range. It will be interesting to see if the new show implements clones and how they’ll be played.
With the Orphan Black: Echoes premiere fast approaching, we’ve rounded up everything you need to know about the sequel.
Check out all the details below.
When will Orphan Black: Echoes premiere?
Orphan Black: Echoes will premiere on Sunday, June 23, at 9/8c on AMC and BBC America.

Remember Kinvig, Clone, Not With A Bang? These are the UK sci-fi sitcoms you’re unlikely to see on comedy best-of lists…
With E4 sci-fi comedy commissions, Tripped and Aliens, and in-development Channel 4 projects, Space Ark and Graham Linehan/Adam Buxton collaboration The Cloud, in the works, a new crop of sci-fi sitcom could be making its way to UK TV.
Making funny sci-fi on a small-screen budget is tough enough without the additional pressure of having to attract viewers more traditionally down-to-earth in their sitcom tastes. Sci-fi sets and effects can be seen as prohibitively expensive by comedy commissioners (which is perhaps why the best UK sci-fi sitcoms of recent years has been on BBC Radio), and the genre’s niche status doesn’t scream mainstream hit. Over the years, one or two stand-outs have managed to straddle the sci-fi and comedy TV worlds, but plenty more have stumbled in the attempt.

In the early days of digital technology, we had laser discs, some of which featured interactive movies. The idea was poorly employed sadly, with under-par actors cast in plots they didn’t understand. Some were light gun shooters, while others were detective dramas, and they all had the production values of a cheap Californian porn movie.

A planned Blake's 7 remake will not air on Microsoft's Xbox Live, a new report has claimed.
It was previously suggested that the software giant would fund a revamped version of the sci-fi cult classic, which it would then air on its digital network.
However, Microsoft's Kate Barnes has now told Den of Geek that there is "nothing" to the rumours.
"I think the rumours took on a lot of speed because sci-fi is obviously something at the heart of Xbox, but no, there's nothing to that," Barnes is quoted as saying.
Casino Royale director Martin Campbell is still thought to be attached to the Blake's 7 remake.
The original series starred Gareth Thomas and Paul Darrow and aired for four series on BBC One between 1978 and 1981.

Plans are afoot to take The Minister Of Chance to the big screen - and you can get involved!
Over the past couple of years, a small and dedicated team has been working on The Minister Of Chance, a podcast series which gave a universe of his own to the character that first appeared in the BBC's Doctor Who webcast audio drama Death Comes To Time. The Minister was then voiced by Stephen Fry, playing a Time Lord who survived the destruction of Gallifrey.
Now with Julian Wadham taking on the role from Stephen Fry (courtesy of a regeneration), the cast attracted to the six-part series (funded entirely by fans) has included Sylvester McCoy, Paul Darrow, Jenny Agutter, Philip Glenister, Tamsin Greig and Paul McGann.
It's a terrific series, and you can download the six episodes that are available entirely for free right here.

Timothy Spall in The Syndicate. BBC
Kieran Kinsella
The Syndicate Series 1
The Syndicate, Series One is the pick of Acorn Media’s late April DVD releases. The show is a fascinating character study involving the mundane staff members of a humdrum low-end British supermarket. In the normal course of events, there is nothing particularly intriguing about this group but that all changes when they win the national lottery. When millions of pounds are involved, personal relationships, work rivalries and previously undetected misdeeds suddenly become a lot more important. While the show doesn’t exactly portray the lottery as a bad thing, let’s just say that Kay Mellor’s scripts show us that every silver lining has a massive dark cloud attached to it.
The cast for The Syndicate is top notch and the biggest star among the talented ensemble is Harry Potter actor Timothy Spall. He plays the store manager Bob.

Avon calling... again! After years of being tantalised by the prospect of a Blake's 7 remake - Sky1 looked set to reboot Terry Nation's creation, but later axed the project - fans of the cult classic were finally given reason to celebrate yesterday (April 8) when it was confirmed that Syfy had ordered 13 new hour-long episodes.
The new Blake's 7 - described as a "revolutionary reinvention" of the original - has a strong pedigree, with Heroes scribe Joe Pokaski and Casino Royale director Martin Campbell both on board.
With the crew set, my fan mind naturally turned to casting - who could hope to replace the iconic Gareth Thomas, Paul Darrow, Jacqueline Pearce and company?

New details have emerged of the forthcoming Blake's 7 remake.
Us cable network Syfy has developed the remake of the classic cult drama with FremantleMedia International.
Thirteen hour-long episodes - written by Joe Pokaski (Heroes) and directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) - will be produced by Georgeville TV.
The new Blake's 7 - set in 2136 - is described as a "revolutionary reinvention" of the BBC's 1978-1981 sci-fi drama, following seven criminals - 6 guilty and 1 innocent.
Led by hero of the rebellion Blake - who is mourning the loss of his dead wife Rachel - the crew acquire an alien ship which gives them a second chance at life.
"Blake's 7 was such a forward-thinking concept that the show continues to have resonance with audiences today," said David Ellender, CEO FremantleMedia International.

As networks and movie studios try more and more to take old brands and rework them, they’ve found it profitable to do prequels or sequels or, as the current flavor of word parsing, re-imaging. Which is what is happening with Dracula (though Universal, which will coproduce, does own Bram Stoker’s Dracula) as NBC has given a 10 episode order new version of classic tale. Jonathan Rhys Meyers, late of The Tudors, will play the famed vampire as he arrives in London in hopes of wreaking havoc on the Victorian society that centuries ago “ruined his life.” However, his quest for revenge hits a snag when he falls for a woman who appears to be the second coming of his long-deceased wife (though Dark Shadows explored this 45 years ago). The script is by co-executive producer Cole Haddon. It will be executive produced by 24’s Tony Krantz, HBO films Cloin Callender...

It's no secret that we're big fans of Doctor Who spin-off The Minister Of Chance here at Shadowlocked. We've interviewed several of the great actors in this innovative audio drama, including the mighty Paul Darrow (best known to Sf fans as 'Avon' in Blake's 7, chatted with ex-Doctor Who actor Sylvester McCoy (who not only features in Minister Of Chance but also appeared in his classic role as The Doctor in the 2001 Dan Freeman-penned audio-drama from the which Minister was derived, Death Comes To Time), and chatted to Game Of Thrones/MoC actor Anthony Gethin too.
Hopefully you guys are getting the message - if you're missing Minister, you're missing something pretty damn special in its early stages - and there's more to come that we can't even talk about right now.
In the meantime, take this opportunity to sample the first ten minutes of Minister Of Chance, courtesy...

Damn you, Ben Burtt, sound designer of all six Star Wars movies to date. The price of living in London's leafy Highgate area proved to have an unexpectedly geeky twang in the form of my own, pretty much resident 'R2-D2 bird', which has been attempting to warn the princess about the approaching stormtroopers, in my back garden, for nearly four years. By the time I recorded it this evening, it was getting pretty low on charge, but even so, remains damnably chipper...
I'm far from certain which bird it actually was that inspired Mr. Burtt to define everyone's favourite tin hero with an ARP2600 synthesiser and "combination and blending of water pipes, whistles, and [his own] vocalizations". Could it be the Veery bird? What then, is it doing outside of its usual summer residency in Canada and the northern United States, or its traditional winter retreat in Brazil?
Personally I think...

Generally, I have avoided trying to interview the personal heroes of my youth; it's too risky to one's cherished perceptions. But when faced with the opportunity to chat with Paul Darrow, the British actor who played the laconic and back-shooting anti-hero Avon of 'Blake's 7' (as well as the voice of Grand Moff Tarkin and other characters in 'Star Wars' videogames), I figured I'd take a chance. After all, if he shot me down in flames, at least he'd be in character...
I was, of course, delighted to find that Mr. Darrow retains all the charm and more of his most famous role without the accompanying barbs. Here we chat about Paul's excellent turn as Lord Rathen in the exceptional Sf/fantasy audio drama 'The Minister Of Chance', as well as how Avon came to shoot people in the back despite being the 'hero' of a major BBC sci-fi show,...

Since leaving Oxford two years ago, he's already got BBC, HBO, and numerous theater projects under his belt: Gethin Anthony is an actor on the rise. His portrayal of Renly Baratheon on Game of Thrones, a younger brother with a big secret and his eye on the throne, has gotten attention from all quarters. Additionally, he plays Sutu on the Doctor Who spin-off The Minister of Chance – the self-described 'radiophonic drama' featuring the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy), the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann), and Paul Darrow. Gethin graciously took some time to talk with us at Shadowlocked about Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, and the future of internet technology and drama.
Game of Thrones is a fantastic show. Did you read the books first?

A little bird has whispered in my ear that the very excellent Doctor Who spin-off The Minister Of Chance is very soon be a movie. There's not much more I can say about it than that, except that I've also heard that there's a little preliminary shooting scheduled on the project for next month.
The initial episode of MoC, released in March as the first audio drama available via iTunes, features the Time Lord originally played in the 2001 Sylvester McCoy Who outing Death Comes To Time by Stephen Fry, with Julian Wadham in the title role alongside fellow ex-Doctor Paul McGann and Sf genre favourites Jenny Agutter and Paul Darrow - and, of course, the inimitable Sylvester McCoy.

"The Broken World"
The Tolkienesque environs of Tantillion aren't as rustic as they seem. With science outlawed and the populace living under a new police state - having only just got rid of an old one - there are, strangely, rockets to be seen flying over the vast forests of the nation. But it must be magic, because magic is all that is allowed, with the study of science outlawed and all the 'charlatans' who practiced it long since plucked into obscurity from the country's universities. With the exception of Professor Cantha (Jenny Agutter), who is in hiding but visited frequently and secretly by the young foundling barmaid Kitty (Lauren Crace). This time Kitty has brought with her a very scientific stranger indeed - a Time Lord called The Minister Of Chance (Julian Wadham), able to bridge time and space with the creation of intradimensional doorways. And he seems to...

Sylvester McCoy is best-known to science fiction fans as the seventh Doctor in the BBC's Doctor Who series, taking over the role from Colin Baker from 1987 to the cancellation of the original series in 1989. But there's a very good chance that the Scottish-born theatre, film and TV actor may gain a whole new surge of popularity in the years ahead as he sets off to New Zealand to join director Peter Jackson and theatrical colleague and friend Ian McKellen to make two movies of Tolkien's The Hobbit, wherein he'll play the part of the wizard Radagast, a character from Middle Earth who was omitted from the original trilogy.
Even after the cancellation of Doctor Who, McCoy was never allowed to leave the Time Lord behind, and has participated in numerous audio and multimedia projects playing the Seventh Doctor over the last 21 years. The latest of these reprises a Doctor Who...

One of the great things about Doctor Who is that it always champions the underdog. The evil tyrants are never allowed to win the day (except on rare occasions) and so it's left to the Cordos, Vishinskys and Jagos to stroll off into the sunset with their heads held high.
Doctor Who even has its very own group of underdog stories – some of these fall into the underrated but brilliant strand like The Ambassadors Of Death, Image Of The Fendahl or Frontios. Then there are the tales that used to be slated but are getting reappraised by fans like The Horns Of Nimon or The Gunfighters. And then there are the tales that are seemingly beyond redemption like The Twin Dilemma, Time And The Rani and Timelash.
Ah, Timelash. Nobody seems to like it. Some clever soul found that if you rearrange the letters, they make up Lame Shit, which...

Amendment: Thanks to commenter 'Alex' for digging even deeper into the Minister Of Chance official website to confirm that 'Death Comes To Time' producer/director Dan Freeman is the writer of the new Minister Of Chance project - effectively removing any doubt that MoC is part of the 'Whoniverse', and also removing the question mark from this feature's title!
Who are the ex-Time-Lords in question? Sylvester McCoy (Seventh Doctor) and Paul McGann (Eighth Doctor). So is The Minister Of Chance visual or audio in nature? Well, both and neither. Is it included in the TV licence fee paid for by UK viewers? Only partially - future seasons will only be funded if the first season makes enough money in iTunes downloads. Is there a Time Lord in it at all? The evidence strongly suggests that there is - and that it's an old friend of ours, the aforesaid 'Minister Of...

Big Finish have a few new "non Doctor Who" products available - and alongside the obvious interest of Rob Shearman's book (Love Songs for the Shy and Cynical) there's a very interesting release from the hand of late Dalek creator Terry Nation... Rebecca's World is an audiobook to be released in February - a popular children's book by Terry Nation, it has sadly been out of print for several years, but thanks to atmospheric effects, a full musical score and narration by Paul Darrow...

Former Blake's 7 star Paul Darrow has signed up for a guest stint in ITV1 soap Emmerdale. The actor, best known for his role as Kerr Avon on the sci-fi show, will play Alan Turner's (Richard Thorp) old friend Eddy Fox in ten episodes of the Yorkshire-based programme. Eddy, described as a 'funloving' character, will make his first appearance in July when he arrives in the Dales on a trike. Darrow told The Sun: "I am delighted to be appearing in Emmerdale. My character (more)...

I Have already blogged on how ahead of its time Blake's Seven was, and the conclusion of the series was no different.
It is incredibly dark, tragic and also open-ended - when the Sopranos did this, it was hailed as genius. So were they all dead? Just injured? Does the Federation win?
Most importantly, given that they were finally reunited, why didn't Avon hear Blake out?
When I was a kid, I remember the thing that affected me most was when Vila got shot. The cowardly thief with a heart was always my favourite character, and for him to go out as a hero seemed somehow appropriate. I cried back then, and asked my mum and dad again and again if he would be alright.
Watching it again now, the lack of any production values stand out - how could they not? The incredibly cheap silver guns, the scientist almost...

It’s still Thursday for another couple of hours where I am, so it’s time to remake an 80s classic TV show or movie with an all-new cast. This week: Blake’s 7, the 1978-1981 BBC science fiction show. A revival has been rumored for years, but as right now, there’s nothing definite in the pipeline. (Don’t miss the BBC’s cult-tv subsite devoted to the show.) The original cast included: Roj Blake: Gareth Thomas Kerr Avon: Paul Darrow Jenna Stannis: Sally Knyvette Vila Restal: Michael Keating Cally: Jan Chappell Olag Ga: David Jackson Del Tarrant: Steven Pacey Dayna Mellanby: Josette Simon Soolin: Glynis Barber Orac: Peter Tuddenham Servalan: Jacqueline Pearce Space Commander Travis: Brian Croucher/Stephen Greif My dream cast for an update: Roj Blake: Paul McGann Kerr Avon: Christopher Eccleston Jenna Stannis: Kate Winslet Vila Restal: John Simm Cally: Cate Blanchett Olag Gan: Philip Glenister...
