The short story, courtesy of the film's website, goes... Larry Davis was a New Yorker who shot six New York City police officers on November 19, 1986, when they raided his sister's Bronx apartment. The police said that the raid was executed in order to question Davis about the killing of four suspected drug dealers. At trial, Davis's defense attorneys claimed that the raid was staged to murder him because of his knowledge of the involvement of corrupt police in the drug business. With the help of family contacts and street friends, he eluded capture for the next 17 days despite a massive manhunt. Davis eventually surrendered to police, and was acquitted of attempted murder...

Writer Kevin Arkadie has built a career telling crime stories on top-notch shows such as The Shield and NYPD Blue. Now he's turning those talents to the story of Larry Davis, a New Yorker who became something of a folk hero in the mid '80s following a police shootout and 17-day manhunt. Variety reports that Arkadie will write a script about Davis for Epoch, with the film set to begin shooting in the Bronx next summer. The deal is well timed, because Saturday is the 25th anniversary of the shootout, which began when police raided the Bronx apartment of Davis' sister on November 19th, 1986. Officially, the raid was intended to bring Davis in for questioning about four dead drug dealers. However, Davis' defense attorneys later claimed that was just a cover story to allow the cops to kill Davis, who supposedly had the goods on several corrupt police officers.

Everyone remembers the scene from Back to the Future where Marty McFly takes the gymnasium stage and gives those lame kids from 1955 Hill Valley High School a taste of the rock and roll future. In the movie, star Michael J. Fox simply mimed playing the guitar, but in the video above you can see a now 50-year-old Fox play the song for real on a replica of the red guitar from the film. It was all part of a fundraising charity event held this past Saturday night in NYC called A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson's. And speaking of funny things and Parkinson's, Michael J. Fox was actually on this last season of Curb Your Enthusiasm showing off his great sense of humor about a terrible disease while also playing Larry Davis' greatest nemesis yet. Check...

The 54-year-old actress – whose two-year union to Larry Davis was annulled in 1979, and who has also been wed to Andre J. Lyson and Mark Levinson – insists her previous experiences haven't put her off walking down the aisle again in future.
She said: "It hasn't put me off at all. In face, my attitude is I'm quite hopeful.
"I think I'm in a really good place and I hope I'll meet someone who's in a good place too. Who knows what will happen?"
Kim admits her career can be "lonely" so she has learned to use her spare time well in order to keep busy and stop herself missing her loved ones when she is away on location.
She explained to Stylist magazine: "I have learned that acting is your craft but you also need to have a life.
"You need to recognise that three months on location in the middle of nowhere,...

Kim Cattrall knows the importance of a satisfying love life - she blames bad sex for the breakdown of two of her marriages. The "Sex and the City" star has wed three times - she was married to Larry Davis for two years in the late 1970s, to Andre J. Lyson from 1982 to 1989, and a six-year union with Mark Levinson ended in 2004.
And she is adamant she knows why her relationships with Davis and Lyson failed - she was not compatible with them in bed. Cattrall tells Britain's The Sun, "I would constantly make excuses for bad sexual experiences. Poor sex was a factor in the first two of three marriages breaking up."
"It is one thing to have patience and build up a good sexual relationship, through love. But, with some men - I would say, in my experience, the majority of men - it is just never going to happen.

Cattrall has also realised where she went wrong when choosing a man - because good-looking hunks are not always the best lovers.
She adds, "I wish I had realised that good looks mean nothing when it comes to sex. Everyone expects great-looking guys and women to be having great sex. That's not true.
"I always had a sexy image, on camera, but I was not having a fabulous sex life. You cannot be intimate with an image. I remember going to bed with a real good-looking ladies' man, in the hope that he would teach me what I had been missing. He didn't."...

With today’s release of Takers, a few things have been on my mind...no, it’s not really about the movie in itself nor the pretty…and there’s a lot of pretty in that film! Nah, Today my mind is on crime culture cinema. The first question I would like to pose to you all is: What is this curious fascination some of us have with films that highlight the criminal class of our society?
I thought I would start by examining my own obsession with gangster cinema. I vividly remember the first time I saw Scarface (83); it blew my mind and may have contributed to changing my world view. Watching Al Pacino as Tony Montana stand on that balcony, assault rifle in hand, yelling “You f****** Cockroaches!” was the most surreal thing I had ever seen in my short life. Back then, it was like a dirty...

Lil Wayne's world is filled with recording studios, frequent touring trips across the country and all the rewards his lyrical prowess provides him. But on Rikers Island, the skillful Mc will just be the next in a long line of inmates at the notorious prison facility. The jail is among the biggest in the U.S. and has housed some of the most notorious criminals ever, from the "Son of Sam" killer David Berkowitz to drug kingpin Larry Davis.
Founded in 1884, Rikers Island — located off the southern edge of the Bronx, but accessible via Queens — was purchased by the City of New York for $180,000 from the Ryker Family, descendants of Abraham Rycken, a Dutch settler who migrated to the Big Apple in the 1600s.

"Sex and the City" star Kim Cattrall blames her busy work schedule for the breakdown of her relationship with chef Alan Wyse - but is still hopeful she will find lasting love. The actress split from Canadian cook in 2009 after a five-year romance and had previously been married three times.
But despite being single at 53, the feisty blonde is sure she'll settle down again for good. She says, "It's very hard for someone not involved in this business to really understand what it's about. You work 12-hour days, and something like a series literally consumes your life. I think it's just time not there, really. But I'm still hopeful that I'll meet someone."

On Saturday, September 5th, the Hamptons International Film Festival concluded its Summer Documentary series with a screening of William Kunstler: Disturbing the Universe, produced and directed by Kunstler's daughters, Emily and Sarah. The film covers the life and career of the colorful, at times outrageous, and, often, highly effective attorney. Kunstler's career as a lawyer and activist spanned the civil rights movement in the early 60's, the legendary Chicago Eight case in 1968 (and beyond), the massacre at Attica and its aftermath and the American Indian Movement protests at Wounded Knee in 1973. His later career, almost exclusively as a criminal defense attorney, encompassed John Gotti, the "Central Park Jogger" case, Meir Kahane's assassin and "cop killer" Larry Davis, to name but a few. This is a wonderful film and Emily and Sarah Kunstler have done a remarkable job in presenting...
