Ken Davitian became an overnight celebrity in 2006 thanks to his role as Azamat in the movie Borat. Ken’s comedic timing and natural acting skills made a lot of people wonder why his big break hadn’t come sooner. While he was able to ride the Borat wave for quite some time, the buzz surrounding the movie eventually died down. That doesn’t mean that Ken’s career has slowed down, however. Over the years, he has continued to work on successful projects. He has appeared in shows like Ray Donovan and Cobra Kai and the big screen continues to show him love

Jagshemash! Yes, 14 years after embedding itself into pop culture, Sacha Baron Cohen is resurrecting the character of Borat Sagdiyev for another feature film. His upcoming film’s complete title is, “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.” The movie, filmed mostly in secret, will premiere on Friday, October 23 on Amazon Prime Video.
The film is a sequel to Cohen’s 2006, “Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.” The prank-filled mockumentary sees the Kazakh reporter returning to America in order to find a husband for his daughter and having to quarantine during the initial outbreak of the novel coronavirus. The biggest stunt that we see in the trailer above is Cohen as Borat dressing up in a Donald Trump disguise and interrupting Vice President Mike Pence’s speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (Cpac) earlier this year.

The present-day Bruce Willis trying his hand at blending comedy with other genres hasn’t really been working out as well as we might hope, but he’s keeping at it. And with an already impressive cast aboard, his new, untitled project has added Adam Goldberg, Ken Davitian, Victor Ortiz, Tyga and David Arquette. Mark and Robb Cullen, whose last attempt to blend Willis and wackiness was Cop Out (red flag? We’re going to call it more sort of maroon) are also directing this one, which had been filming under the title Going Under, but is now, according to Variety, without a name. Willis is playing an La gumshoe whose prized pet pooch Buddy is pet-napped by a notorious gang. He’ll have to do the gang’s bidding while they have the animal hostage, his life complicated further by two vengeful Samoan brothers and a loan shark’s henchmen.

The best movie culture writing from around the internet-o-sphere. There will be a quiz later. Just leave a tab open for us, will ya? “After Barton Fink 2: A Proposed Nine-Year Franchise Plan for the Coenverse” — John Lopez at Grantland goes Marvel on The Coen Brothers. “Year 2 O Brother, Where Art Thou? Live! Since we’re talking about the Coens, there’s no reason not to take chances right off the bat. How about a faux–concert film following the reunited Soggy Bottom Boys, who go on tour in the Deep South at the height of the civil rights movement? Social progress and hilarity ensue.” “Why We’re Nowhere Near Reaching ‘Peak Zombie’” — Ria Misra at io9 speaks with author M.R. The best movie culture writing from around the internet-o-sphere. There will be a quiz later. Just leave a tab open for us, will ya? “Pre-Code: Hollywood before the censors” — Mike Mashon and James Bell at Sight and Sound go longform to celebrate the sexy, gangster-y glory of a storytelling system before the ethical handcuffs were slapped on. “Even when prostitution isn’t obviously suggested, the pursuit of other vices could bring women characters low. Among the rawest of all the pre-Code pictures, Mervyn LeRoy’s Three on a Match (1932), about the varying fortunes of three women (Ann Dvorak, Joan Blondell and Bette Davis), crams a roll-call of forbidden themes into little more than an hour: infidelity, alcoholism, child abuse, gangsterism, undressing, drug use… The magnificent Dvorak steals the show as the lawyer’s tragic wife who sinks into a life of vice and crime.” “Adam Sandler’s Bad New Movie Made Me Cry Like Nothing Else Before...

Moone Boy, “Godfellas”
Written by Chris O’Dowd & Nick Vincent Murphy
Directed by Declan Lowney
Aired July 10th, 2013 on Hulu
In a year full of fantastic imports, Moone Boy seems to have slipped through the cracks. This Irish series, which was picked up in July by Hulu, was created by Chris O’Dowd and stars youngster David Rawle as 12 year old Martin Moone and O’Dowd as his imaginary friend, Seán Murphy. The series follows Martin’s exploits growing up in a small Irish town in the late eighties and early nineties and is based on O’Dowd’s childhood experiences. “Godfellas”, the fifth of the first season’s six episodes, centers on Martin’s newfound desire to become an altar boy. He’s immediately taken with the idea upon seeing a group of them process in at his confirmation, “You Can’t Touch This” playing in his head as...

In one of the most weirdly Los Angeles-focused (and just plain terrifying to Angeleno driers) press releases to ever land at Reject HQ, we’ve just received our first look (up top) at the Elizabeth Banks-starring Walk of Shame, thanks to a release that doesn’t emphasize the film’s fun cast (including Banks, James Marsden, Gillian Jacobs, Bill Burr, Liz Carey, Ken Davitian, Willie Garson, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., Oliver Hudson, Alphonso McAuley, Kevin Nealon, Tig Notaro, Ethan Suplee, and Sarah Wright) or its amusing premise (Banks gets stranded in downtown La after a one night stand goes awry, with only eight hours to get to the biggest job interview of her career), but instead focuses on how much the film’s shoot has completely screwed up La’s already-screwed traffic situation. If you are an Angeleno, I beg you to brace yourself before reading some of the most hive-inducing details of said press release. Really...

This weekend Hollywood was responsible for Los Angeles’ recent major road closure as the production of Walk Of Shame stopped traffic – literally! – inspiring the term Shameaggedon. The comedy, starring Elizabeth Banks, James Marsden and Gillian Jacobs, currently in production in Los Angeles closed the roads due to filming – taking over the 710 Freeway from the 10 Freeway to the Valley Boulevard exit. The road closures lasted over six hours both Saturday, February 2 and Sunday, February 3.
Written & directed by Steve Brill (Without A Paddle, Mr. Deeds), Walk Of Shame stars Banks as an aspiring reporter whose dreams of becoming a network news anchor are compromised after a one-night stand with a handsome stranger (played by Marsden) leaves her stranded in downtown Los Angeles without a phone, car, ID or money – and only 8 hours to make it to the most important job interview of her life.

What is Casting Couch? It’s the casting news roundup that was compiled today with the help of Daft Punk musical accompaniment. You may not remember much about Tron: Legacy’s story, because other than its glowing lights and its pumping soundtrack, that 2010 sequel to Disney’s cult classic Tron was pretty dull. So, let’s refresh your memory. The movie starred Garrett Hedlund as the son of Jeff Bridges’ character from the first film. He went into the computer world, found his dad, and then there was a big battle. Remember all this? Good, because Next Movie just confirmed that Hedlund will be back for whatever Tron 3 ends up being called. Disney apparently started getting a script together for a third film just last week. This, of course, means that we’ll all now be keeping our eyes open for the real news regarding this new sequel: whether or not Daft Punk is coming back to...

Yesterday, we reported the completely non-shocking news that Eddie Murphy has officially been named the most overpaid actor of 2012 by Forbes. And this isn't exactly a new trend for Murphy, who also came in second on the list of most overpaid actors of 2011. In fact, given his mostly abysmal track record since the late 1980s, we'd have to say that poor Eddie is now in the running for the most overpaid actors of all time.
Which got us thinking: Which actors out there deserved to get some of that money that went to Murphy instead? Who are the most underpaid actors of all time?
With that in mind, here's a quick run down of some people who really, really should have gotten paid a whole hell of a lot more than they did for these thankless movie roles:
Steve-o in 'Jackass 3-D'

Chicago – Rob Hedden’s “You May Not Kiss the Bride” with Dave Annable, Katharine McPhee, and Rob Schneider is the kind of modest romantic comedy with wacky hijinks and likable central characters that one typically stumbles upon in a video store or when cycling through new On Demand options. Before that happens, the mediocre honeymoon from hell pic is getting a minor theatrical release in some markets, including Chicago, starting this weekend. The charisma and comic timing of the film’s female leads make up for some of the screenwriting rough patches but not enough to justify a trip to the theater.
Annable (“Brothers & Sisters,” “666 Park Avenue”) plays Bryan Lighthouse, the owner of a Chicago pet photography studio called Lighthouse Photography. Bryan’s assistant Tonya (Mena Suvari) is a troublemaker who happens to have an unhealthy crush on our affable hero. One day, Tonya accidentally allows a cat into...

Title: You May Not Kiss the Bride Director: Rob Hedden Starring: Dave Annable, Katharine McPhee, Ken Davitian, Vinnie Jones, Mena Suvari, Rob Schneider, Tia Carrere, Kevin Dunn, Howard Bishop, Kathy Bates, Stephen Tobolowsky An uneven action-comedy of unconvincingly forced hijinks, “You May Not Kiss the Bride” plays like a strange, misbegotten mash-up of “The Bounty Hunter,” “Green Card,” “Get Shorty” and “The Big Bounce.” The cross-pollinated ensemble story of an arranged marriage, unlikely budding romances and a bunch of criminal mischief and double-crossing, it’s amiable yet still consistently wearying — a movie that never figures out a way to stitch together all of its incongruous elements. With The Newsroom chugging along, critics have pointed out a pattern of sexism in Sorkin's work. Do you think that's fair?
The second episode of Aaron Sorkin's latest endeavor, HBO's The Newsroom, unleashed a new wave of criticism on the much-berated television show: sexism.
Critics say Sorkin has a habit of creating one-dimensional female characters in male-dominated settings. Remember the backlash to The Social Network?
What's more is that Sorkin's already been called out this year for his condescending treatment of Globe and Mail reporter Sarah Prickett, who he famously referred to as "internet girl" at a press conference. His later attempt to school her into "properly" high-fiving – "let me manhandle you" he told her – didn't help.
So what's the deal? Is Newsroom really sexist? Are the female characters one dimensional? Does it matter? Or, as John Lopez suggests, is Sorkin just presenting us with an unwelcome reflection on our times?...

Here's Whit Stillman's schedule for the next few days: This evening, following a screening of Barcelona (1994), he and Chris Eigeman will be chatting at the Museum of the Moving Image. Tomorrow, he'll be at the Museum again to introduce his new film, Damsels in Distress, before heading over to BAMcinématek for a Q&A with Eigeman and Lena Dunham following a screening of The Last Days of Disco (1998). And then on Friday, following its premiere in Venice (see the roundup) and screening in Toronto (see Dan Sallitt's take), Damsels, Stillman's first feature in 14 years, finally opens in theaters.
Let's take this more or less chronologically, beginning with Colin Beckett, writing for Moving Image Source:
The three films that Whit Stillman made in the 1990s are neither the paradigmatic indie comedies they would appear in summary nor the traditionalist allegories his conservative fans have claimed. Though Stillman released these formally unambitious,...

Norby Walters is not necessarily someone I would want to be friends with. For starters, he’s a sports agent. Despite my raging “Plantar fasciitis,” I am no athlete. Back in 1988, Norby was convicted of fraud and racketeering after he signed college players to professional sports teams before it was legally allowed. Despite my penchant for Scorcese crime flicks and a dude I once made out with who just got out of Rikers, I don’t often associate with criminals. He also kind of looks like my cousin Edith who passed away years ago. I loved Edith but there’s only room for one in my heart. And yet, taking allll of these things into consideration, my mind is made up: I want to be friends with Norby Walters. Why, you ask? Simple. Judging by the characters who attended his 22nd Annual Night Of 100 Stars Oscar Viewing Party, he...
