Tom Riordan, Philip Kim, Holly Interlandi, and Cameron Hatheway at the WonderCon 2016 panel
Miss WonderCon? No worries! Here’s our comic imprint’s WonderCon panel wrap up! At their first ever WonderCon panel, American Gothic Press was excited to take the stage and talk about the monumental first year they’ve had with their titles Gunsuits, Broken Moon, Project Nemesis, Monster World, and the more recent success in Irwin Allen’S Lost In Space: The Lost Adventures.
The discussion then focused on the upcoming action title Killbox, with writer Tom Riordan and artist Nathan Gooden on hand to talk about the process and the decision to keep the comic in black and white. They then revealed the cover of the upcoming third issue (see below). The comic drops April 27, 2016.

The Movie Pool thinks the G.I. Joe Series 2 Season 2 DVD set seriously misfires!
The Set-up
Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Duke and Scarlett join General Hawk as they continue to battle Cobra and assorted enemies in the final season of G.I. Joe's second series. This three disc DVD set includes all 20 episodes of season two.
The Delivery
For die-hard G.I Joe fans, there is a huge dividing line between series one (which was produced by Sunbow in the 1980s and featured the guiding hand of Buzz Dixon) and series two (which ran from 1990 to 1992). Where Series One became a classic 1980s cartoon, the 1990s Series Two did not quite catch on. Fans of the original handily rejected the changes made to the brand and its characters.
Series Two tries to recapture the look and feel of the 1980s series, but does not quite live up to the original. Of course,...

Sunday July 15th is the last day of Comic-Con 2012, and most of us will be completely worn out looking like Spider-Man in the image above. Chances are he's asleep under that mask. Sunday has always been a cool down day for us, we kind of just try to relax a little bit more and enjoy it. That doesn't mean their isn't anything to see or do though!
We've got a Fringe screening and Q&A, Doctor Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer 20th Anniversary, Sons of Anarchy, the annual Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical screening, and more! I've always wanted to go the Buffy musical sing-a-long, but am usually trying to leave San Diego before it starts.
Just a little reminder, we will be having our annual GeekTyrant meet up this year to meet our readers, which is something we always enjoy doing! That will take place on Wednesday night, and...

If you were eagerly anticipating the release of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" -- originally scheduled to hit theaters on June 29 -- you've probably been disappointed to discover that the film has been postponed all the way back to March 29, 2013. Paramount's official reason for bumping the Dwayne Johnson-starring sequel was to convert the movie to 3D. But many industry insiders have been skeptical, given that nine months is an awfully long time to postpone something that was less than five weeks away from premiering (especially with all the publicity and merchandise having already gone out). Not surprisingly, there is more to this story than just 3D conversion, and Deadline has the inside scoop (Massive Spoilers Ahead): Apparently, audiences were not happy with the decision to see Channing Tatum -- who plays Duke, the leader of the Joes -- get killed off in the first few minutes of the film. (Then again,...

Comic-Con International has released the full schedule for Sunday July 24th for San Diego Comic-Con 2011. This is the final day of the convention. Sunday is known as Kids day and is usually the slowest of all the days, there are a few surprises though. In all my years of going to Comic-Con I've never been to a panel in Hal H. Usually nothing is happening in Hall H on Sunday, this year there are a few TV programs going on in Hall H such a as Glee, Supernatural, Doctor Who, The Cleveland Show, Sons of Anarchy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and this year Buffy the Musical will be in the great Hall as well. I've never been to the Buffy Musical event, and I think I finally want to go this year. A couple of other things worth noting are a one on one panel with Nathan Fillion, and Max Brooks talks about zombies.

Ruby-Spears was a strong competitor to Hanna-Barbera and Filmation when they arrived during the 1970s. For ComicMix fans, their brightest moment may have been the imaginative and visually interesting Thundarr the Barbarian, which aired a mere 21 episodes. But, boasting the designs of Jack Kirby and Alex Toth, along with the writing prowess of Steve Gerber, Martin Pasko, and others, the show has remained a fan favorite.
We were reminded of the show’s potential when the first episode was included in the Saturday Morning 1980s set from Warner Home Video. Now, their sister division, Warner Archive, has released a complete four disc set of the series. Amazingly, though, Lords of Light! an eighteen minute piece all about the creation and enduring appeal of Thundarr the Barbarian that was on the former set, is missing here.
The series ran during the 1980-1982 seasons, on ABC. Thundarr is a nomadic barbarian (aren’t they all?...

I must preface this review by saying that I am not a G.I. Joe fan. When people say, “And now you know…” I reply, “And knowledge is power!” while my husband sadly shakes his head in dismay. (The debate of G.I. Joe vs. School House Rock is on-going). This franchise is for little boys and boys-at-heart who grew up with the toys and the cartoon show, who sat in their basement reenacting battles with tanks, helicopters, and action figures. For the young kids, G.I. Joe: The Movie will be a giant toy commercial, and for those who grew up with it, the movie is a walk down memory lane, a big old slice of '80’s animated nostalgia.
Looking back, I have a hard time remembering the central conflict in the movie, but then again, I seriously doubt that it matters all that much. All non-G.I. Joe fans...

Hamsterdam, MD - News at 4:20. As part of the celebration for the upcoming season of Weeds, Glick University polled over 4,000 Americans about what TV News personalities they wanted to see get high during a broadcast.
Naturally there were ground rules including the disqualifications of news organizations that contain notorious on air potheads. This meant no votes were collected for the cast of The Daily Show, Colbert Report and Fox and Friends. You think Steve Doocey is sober? Hard to think that any of those folks have eyes that aren’t pied 24-7.
10, Bill O’Reilly (Fox News) had a lot of folks who reacted that it’d be like, “Dude, I’m getting high with dad.” Of course this initial elation is cut down with the horrifying fact of “Dude, I’m getting high with dad and it’s just not someone I need to party with.”

The Plastic Man Comedy Adventure Show (Warner Home Video, $44.98) preserves all 35 exploits of America’s most pliable superhero from his 1979-80 Saturday morning series. Long before Mr. Fantastic, Elastigirl (a.k.a. Mrs. Incredible) and Elastic Man, there was Plastic Man, a hero my Dad read and liked in the 1940s. Jack Cole (another of comicdom’s troubled geniuses) created the fun-loving character for Quality Comics in 1941, both writing and inventively illustrating the stories. Since Plas (as he was nicknamed) was, shall we say, flexible, Cole broke comic book conventions with his innovative layouts. See Forms Stressed To Their Limits: Jack Cole & Plastic Man, the excellent (and beautifully designed) book by Art Spiegelman & Chip Kidd for more on Cole’s talents and troubles. Anyhow, Quality’s major heroes (notably Blackhawk and Plas) got sold to DC comics in the late 1950s. Every so often in the intervening half-century, Plastic Man...
