Patrick Michael Dolan
- Cinematographer
- Camera and Electrical Department
When most
kids were running down to greet the ice cream man, Patrick was making
films with his super 8 camera. Originally from Northern California,
Patrick grew up in a small town that had more cows than people and high
art in films was Clint Eastwood starring in a double feature down at
the Bijou. He quickly adopted a group of friends that made films (most
of these three minute epics were horror films involving sock puppets
was beside the point...comedy and horror are the primary staples on the
cultural menu when you're 10 years old).
At the age of 20, Patrick relocated to Los Angeles where he attended the School of Cinema-Television at University of Southern California. After graduating with honors he hit the ground running and has gone on to shoot numerous commercials, music videos and feature films.
In 2003, Patrick decided to take a more hands-on approach to the projects he worked on, so he started Anemic Cinema, a commercial production company that worked closely with ad agency DDB Los Angeles. After five years, despite the enthusiastic critical response to the spots Anemic Cinema created, Patrick decided that running such an ambitious company was an unneeded distraction from creating and shooting spots, so he folded the company in 2008.
Patrick's independent feature film work includes Sparkle and Charm (1997) from The Devil Inside writer/director William Brent Bell. In 2009, Patrick completed the comedy Tripping Forward starring Ed Begley Jr, Amber Benson, and M.C. Gainey.
He won a Billboard Music Award for "Best New Music Video" for his work on Third Day's "Consuming Fire". Next he collaborated with the San Diego based alternative band No Knife, "The Red Bedroom". His commercial work includes spots for Adidas, Nintendo, Diesel, Ameritrade, Union Bank of California, Sundance Channel, Morgan Stanley, VW, Bud Light, Ameriquest, Career Builder, and MTV's "Fight for Your Rights" campaign.
