Say the words “Carrie: The Musical” and the first reaction might be a preparation for a campy romp. The Stephen King story is best remembered in the Brian De Palma film of 1976, starring Sissy Spacek. Indian contemporary dance choreographer, Shiamak Davar, has been presented with an honorary doctorate from Middlesex University, London. Shiamak is well known for changing the choreography of Hindi cinema and is the first Indian to bring contemporary jazz and western forms of dances to thousands in India through his school Sdipa, which is the first of its kind. He began his Bollywood journey with Yash Chopra's Dil To Pagal Hai for which he won the National Film Award for Best Choreographer. He also choreographed the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and Delhi and the successful Bollywood tour and 'The Unforgettable Tour' starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
