More than 650 items belonging to the Hurt singer - including handwritten lyrics, photos, vintage clothing and 50 musical instruments, including a guitar estimated to be worth $15,000 - are being sold from yesterday until Thursday. Late screen legend Katharine Hepburn's possessions have been sold for $5.8 million over the course of a two-day auction - exceeding organisers' predictions. Items belonging to the Academy Award winner - including paintings, clothing, photographs and furniture - were sold at New York's Sotheby's, with all monies raised being placed into trust for Hepburn's family. Among the 695 items snapped up was a small bronze bust of actor Spencer Tracy, which sold for $316,000 - way over the estimated $4,000. Sotheby's Leila Dunbar says, "We are absolutely thrilled with the results achieved for Miss Hepburn's estate - a testament to her enduring legacy. It was her wish to give the public a chance to own something of hers.
