The original trilogy of Star Wars films is known for its highly unique visual style and storytelling. The trilogy created by George Lucas has carved itself a special place in pop culture. Fans continue to enjoy discussing several aspects of the films, especially certain creative choices made by Lucas that did not sit well with them, such as the death of Boba Fett in Return of the Jedi.
Boba Fett was killed off in Return of the Jedi
During an interview, editor Duwayne Dunham revealed that he and other crew members protested against the creative choice during the production of Return of the Jedi. However, Lucas persisted with the choice, leading to the death of Boba Fett, something Lucas himself regretted later. Here is why the Return of the Jedi crew protested against George Lucas’ decision to kill off Boba Fett.

On Dec. 29, Star Wars fans will finally get something they could only fantasize about in 1983: the further on-screen adventures of Boba Fett. It’s a Disney+ show almost 40 years in the making, and not just because the pre-Disney canon had already established Boba survived the sarlacc pit, but because the villain always seemed destined for something bigger than his six-ish minutes of screen time and four lines of dialogue in the Original Trilogy.
Boba is a great example of the kind of zeitgeist-grabbing myth-making that has made Lucasfilm such a successful movie studio over the last 50 years. As with other memorable Lucasfilm icons, including Indiana Jones, the studio put a lot of time into designing the bounty hunter. In fact, the creation of Boba Fett is emblematic of Lucasfilm’s signature approach to character building and the massive success of that process.
Before 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back, there was already Boba Fett.

1978’s Star Wars Holiday Special is known for many things: continuing the adventures of Luke, Han, Leia, and Chewie; introducing fans to Life Day and Chewie’s son, Lumpy; and being an all-around terrible TV special. But it also marked the first onscreen appearance of one of the most iconic characters in Star Wars: Boba Fett.
In the animated portion of the special, the heroes first meet Boba as an ally, a mysterious man in imposing armor who offers to help Han and Chewie after they crash on a dangerous moon in the Panna system. But we soon learn of this Good Samaritan’s true allegiance — he’s working for Darth Vader and the Empire. It’s this backstory that would later inform Boba’s first live-action appearance in The Empire Strikes Back, in which he’s hired by Vader to track down the Millennium Falcon in order to set...

One of the bright spots to emerge out of the quarantine era has been the David Lynch Theater, a YouTube account run by Lynch’s longtime producer Sabrina S. Sutherland. The video page hosts Lynch’s daily weather reports, plus original quarantine web series like “What Is David Working on Today?,” and it has also become a platform for Lynch to upload old short films and debut new work but she’s planning to “give opportunities that haven’t been there in the past” once a new Lynch project starts up.
If Sutherland is thinking about ways to diversify the crew, does that mean a new Lynch project is on the way? It sounds as if there’s at least an idea kicking around Lynch’s head. For now, watch Lynch’s latest quarantine videos on the David Lynch Theater YouTube page. Head over to The Daily Beast to read...

A top executive at the blockchain specialist SingularDTV said the company is “very optimistic” it will gain regulatory approval to enable crowdfunding through its platform.
Letting members of the company’s online community directly invest in film, TV and music projects would close a key loop, said Kim Jackson, co-founder and head of entertainment for the company. During a keynote session at a New York conference sponsored by the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance, she said crowdfunding would complement tools for producing, distributing and tracking projects. The whole enterprise, she said, can be managed with new technology that offers far greater ease and transparency than with any current method, though regulators have expressed some wariness.
“We’re working with SEC lawyers and working very closely with regulators to be able to show them the functionality of this application,” Jackson said. “It will really be able to be a transparent ledger, so...

The Television Academy just gave David Lynch some good news: The “Twin Peaks” auteur has landed another Emmy nomination.
The organization just approved more names to the “Twin Peaks” nomination for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing: Lynch; Jonathan P. Shaw, Ace; Brian Berdan, Ace; Justin Krohn; and Jason Wa Tucker, Ace. Those names are in addition to Duwayne Dunham, who was previously the only name included in the nomination.
That means Lynch now has a total of four Emmy nominations this year. His other nods include Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special; Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special (with Mark Frost); and as part of the team nominated for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Limited Series, Movie or Special (for “Part 8”).

Hear the words “Twin Peaks” and a few names immediately come to mind: David Lynch, Mark Frost, Kyle MacLachlan, Michael Cera, etc. Less mentioned is executive producer Sabrina S. Sutherland, a longtime Lynch associate whose presence and input was no less an absolute necessity in the series’ conception, creation, completion, and, now, home-video release. Charting the show’s production — inasmuch as one can get access to what, even after its completion, remains a secretive process — will make clear that, when all’s said and done, she’s perhaps second only to the beloved auteur as an authority.
It was thus my great pleasure to speak with her at this year’s Camerimage International Film Festival, where I also managed to see the two-hour premiere and attend an hour-long Q & A with Lynch. Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. It's great to be in the know. To have a moment (hopefully more than one) when the veil drops and, per that old song, the mysteries of love (of life) come clear. Part 12 of Mark Frost and David Lynch's revived Twin Peaks opens with just such a scene, as FBI Agent Tammy Preston (Chrysta Bell) is initiated into the Blue Rose Task Force by her superiors Albert Rosenfield (Miguel Ferrer) and Gordon Cole (Lynch). The references Albert drops—to things like "Project Blue Book" and to people like "Chet Desmond"—will be familiar to any Peaks obsessive who has pored over the original series, the Fire Walk with Me movie, or Frost's 2016 tie-in novel The Secret History of Twin Peaks. But remember that...

Twin Peaks, Season 2, Episode 18, “On the Wings of Love”
Written by Harley Peyton and Robert Engels
Directed by Duwayne Dunham
Originally aired April 4, 1991 on ABC
At first, Harry’s hangover is a funny running gag in this episode, as several different characters give their opinions about the best cure for one, from Cooper’s attempt to make Harry throw up to Annie’s “teetotaling and prayer”. It becomes such a plot point, however, repeatedly brought up and emphasized with a tongue-in-cheek attitude, that it takes on a deeper meaning. It certainly seems as though Harry’s hangover is a wry metaphor for the state of the series. The last six episodes, including the one preceding this one, were filmed in one block, and they seem to acknowledge that things got off the rails. Harry’s search for a hangover cure mirrors their search for a way to right the ship...

After the tour de force performance that was the pilot of Twin Peaks, the most important of the many questions raised was how on earth this would be able to sustain a weekly series. Its vision was so unique and its oddness so carefully calibrated that it was easy to understand why so many of the critics who first reviewed it and loved it gave it zero chance of mainstream success, even while you could also understand why ABC would take a chance on its vision.

I'm not sure how many of you know this, but Boba Fett's first appearance wasn't in the 1980 film Empire Strikes Back. It also wasn't in the 1978 animated segment of the Star Wars Holiday Special as Vader’s right-hand man where he is holding the trident looking weapon.
Boba Fett's first appearance was live when he marched in the San Anselmo Country Fair parade on September 24th, 1978. According to Star Wars.com:
Parades are usually high school bands and Corn Princesses and floats, not flamethrowers and jetpacks and helmets. So what and why was Boba Fett in a parade in a small city twenty miles north of San Francisco? For one, San Anselmo was home to the famous house at 52 Park Way, which was the galactic core of Lucasfilm at the time. So once the annual fall parade came around, it seemed to make perfect sense.
Why not?

We've got some more vintage Star Wars awesomeness for you today! This is a 1978 screen test for Boba Fett featuring a rare look at the character in an all white costume. This was the original design by artist Ralph McQuarrie. The stuff we find on the internet still amazes me at times. The video points out a lot of the details of the costume.
Boba Fett made his first appearance The Star Wars Holiday Special before appearing in
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. Here's the note that came along with the video:
Many have seen the early Ralph McQuarrie sketches of Boba Fett sporting the all-white helmet and armor. What you haven't seen is the original white Fett costume in action. A videotape was rolling to capture "proto Fett's" reveal to Lucas and company at the filmmaker's home on June 28, 1978. In the video, sound designer Ben Burtt "hosts" Fett's reveal,...

A box-office failure, David Lynch's Fire Walk With Me divided critics in 1992. James looks back at a surreal cult film...
When Vincent Canby famously described Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (1992) as "…not the worst movie ever made; it just seems to be," the renowned Us critic was merely reflecting the overwhelming response to David Lynch’s big-screen prequel to his recently cancelled TV show.
Audibly jeered by the notoriously fickle festival crowd at its unveiling in Cannes, even fellow filmmakers joined the chorus of disapproval against Lynch.
At the festival for the first time with his debut feature, Reservoir Dogs, director Quentin Tarantino went so far as to say: "I’m not ragging on other people, but after I saw Fwwm […] David Lynch has disappeared so far up his own ass that I have no desire to watch another […] Lynch film until I hear something different.

Tonight at 8:00pm Et on Cartoon Network, The Clone Wars gets wet. The season four premiere takes fans underwater on the planet Mon Calamari, home of future Rebel leader Admiral Ackbar, the career military-squid who we all know hates traps. It’s classic Star Wars–characters on the run, impossible odds, breathtakingly alien vistas. But animating three episodes set almost entirely underwater presented some challenges, according to supervising director Dave Filoni. “The hardest things to animate are fire, foliage, and water,” Filoni says. “Industrial Light & Magic long ago mastered fire, and in our season three finale in April we...

Fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars know this was a breakthrough season. Not only did the quality of the animation seemingly jump to lightspeed, but the stories went deeper into that Galaxy Far, Far Away than ever before with thought-provoking episodes tackling politics, financial corruption, and terrorism. Not the Star Wars you grew up with, to be sure, but a fresh new take on George Lucas’s enduring space opera for the post-9/11 era. In fact, you wouldn’t be far off if you likened supervising director Dave Filoni’s reimagining of Star Wars to Ronald D. Moore and...

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Episode 11 – Pursuit of Peace
Written by Daniel Arkin | Directed by Duwayne Dunham
“Padmé, Bail Organa and Onaconda Farr attempt to rally Senators in opposition to a bill that would appropriate funds for millions of new clone troops and have disastrous financial consequences for the Republic. Their opposition to the measure, however, soon makes them targets for intimidation and attacks by hired guns. After escaping two hired thugs — Chata Hyoki and Robonino — in a harrowing speeder bike chase, Padmé, is able to sway the Senate with a stirring account of how the war has affected an everyday civilian, her handmaiden Teckla Minnau.”
This episode starts of all politics and then becomes an action adventure in the style of the Star Wars movies and Indiana Jones, with a really great speeder bike chase through the streets of Coruscant. It’s brilliant fodder for a Star Wars RPG adventure.
