Ann Marie Sanderlin is executive producing. Brad Epstein is the Disney executive on the project. In addition to The Simpsons, Oakley and Weinstein's writing credits include Futurama and The Mullets. They also served as consulting producers on the former and exec producers on the latter. The writers are repped by CAA and attorney John Moonves.

A stylistic hodgepodge befitting a movie about a determined young director in the throes of making a studio film and romancing the love of his life, "Entropy" has an autobiographical flavor arising from writer-director Phil Joanou's career track, which careens from classy concert documentary "U2: Rattle and Hum" to star-driven misfires like "Heaven's Prisoners".
The opening-night film of the fifth Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, "Entropy" premiered Thursday before a capacity crowd at the Directors Guild of America Theater. There's an industry slant to the humor in the partly successful film, and its appeal is probably limited to savvy audiences familiar with the indie scene.
Foremost among Joanou's storytelling techniques is having lead character Jake (Stephen Dorff) address the audience in frequent monologues. He even freezes the action and intrudes in the middle of his story. The filmmaker also uses fast-motion photography for transitions and to capture the lead's mercurial state of mind.
Jake is a successful director of music videos and intimate with the members of Irish rock group U2, but he's treated poorly by producers Sal (Frank Vincent) and Andy Paul Guilfoyle), who answer to a humorless studio chief (Hector Elizondo). The project in question is a period, noir-like film shooting in New York, where Jake falls in love with sexy but sweet model Stella (the enchanting Judith Godreche).
The central part of the film, relating Jake and Stella's love affair -- including the antics of an adorable kitten -- is the film's most enjoyable stretch. Bespectacled and lightly bearded, Dorff is scruffy and brainy, coping with the disorderly aspects of reality and ultimately deciding to cooperate with the producers, who insist that the female star do a topless scene. About the time neglected Stella drifts off, obsessed-with-his-film Jake has another bitter row with his tormentors after enduring budget cuts and a shrinking shooting schedule.
Bono, the Edge and footage of U2 performing pop up from time to time, including an awkward concert sequence in which wavering Stella learns that Jake impulsively married a young Irish woman (Kelly Macdonald) who he subsequently divorces in a parallel to Joanou's life. Providing some foundation in his frantic existence is Jake's sister (Lauren Holly) and her husband (Jon Tenney), but the film is ultimately about letting that once-in-a-lifetime someone get away, and it comes to a wistful conclusion.
