“Second verse same as the first” isn’t exactly how you could describe composer Paul Leonard-Morgan’s life and career, but you could say some of his life’s melodies repeat now and then. Whether it be twice writing music for a thriller about a brain-enhancing drug or annual fundraising for a hospital while clad in a kilt, there are a few refrains in Leonard-Morgan’s life, though he’s found ways to make those familiar experiences fresh each time. Leonard-Morgan composed music for the 2011 thriller Limitless, starring Bradley Cooper. CBS also hired him when the network was developing a TV adaptation of the movie, about the people who discover the powers of a mysterious drug called Nzt-48 that gives users access to every neuron in their brain (based on the myth that humans only use 10% of their brain). Limitless, which premiered last fall, didn’t get renewed for a second season on CBS,...

It seems Limitless may have out-stayed its welcome at CBS, as network President Glenn Geller confirms that the property is currently being offered out to other potential buyers. As the annual TV upfronts continue, networks and television fans alike find themselves in the midst of a frenzy of cancellations and renewals, as executives make the tough decisions about the future of their series. It seems that, although its film-to-tv stable-mate Rush Hour was not so lucky, Limitless has received a temporary stay of execution, while the network tries to find it a new home.

A quick story: Tonight I ended up in Times Square, and across the street from the venue I was at, the billboard would occasionally display ads for Limitless. They feature Brian just sort of standing there, surrounded by blurry light, and Rebecca standing over his shoulder. That’s it. I can safely say that if those ads were the only thing I knew about this show, I would not watch it.What these ads don’t convey is that Limitless is weird as hell. It’s so weird. I should clarify: a good weird! Consider this week’s episode, “Brian Finch’s Black Op,” as Exhibit A. It combines black-ops bounty hunters with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the lighthearted John Hughes film that features zero black-ops bounty hunters. From the very beginning, it’s clear that this episode is going to be different. It starts with a title card,...

One of the reasons why Limitless has become a ratings success during this generally lackluster new fall television season is that it's a show with a sense of humor. That goofball charm has never been more in view than in this episode, "Brian Finch's Black Op," which offers up a note-perfect spoof of the classic movie comedy Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Coming from someone who has only seen the big screen version of Limitless in random pieces on basic cable, CBS’s new-crime-procedural-with-a-different-wallpaper is shockingly deft in doing what it sets out to accomplish. There’s a surprising amount of sweetness thanks to a core relationship between loner Brian and his sickly father, and the show as a whole works overtime in catching up anyone who may never have heard of the Bradley Cooper-starring film. All the same, it will hardly change the opinions of those who visibly revolt against those acronym-heavy procedurals that CBS trots out each year, but given the opportunity, there’s decent a chance you’ll get lost in this world along with Brian.

The thematic centre of Neil Burger’s 2011 feature Limitless, based on Alan Glynn’s novel The Dark Fields, was what we’d all be willing to sacrifice for knowledge and power. If you were offered a psychotropic devil’s bargain that would make you an uber-capable genius at the cost of your safety, would you take it?
The CBS spin-off show poses no such question. Not in the pilot at least. It doesn’t use its neural-enhancement-drug premise to probe the ethics of an issue that’s recurred in myth for centuries, from Prometheus to the Garden of Eden to Doctor Faustus to a shelf of comic books a mile long. Instead, it uses it to populate network TV with yet another super-powered crime-solver.

Bradley Cooper will reprise his role from the Limitless movie as a recurring role in the new TV show, which also now has a trailer...
During all its pre-season-order hype, we've been fairly confused by the information surrounding the Limitless TV show. Apparently it was a continuation of the movie, starring Bradley Cooper's movie character (a writer named Eddie), based on some reports. While, according to other sources, it was a cop show based on a new protagonist called Brian (Jack McDorman).
Well the trailer dropped overnight, so which is it? Well, actually, it's both. Cooper has been confirmed to reprise his Eddie role, but as more of a pill-giving Morpheus-esque recurring character. Handling the heavy lifting (and the maths, and the crime-solving stuff) will be McDorman's Brian, which is very much the lead role.
If that doesn't quite make sense as explained, hopefully the trailer will make things a little clearer.

It’s not every TV spin-off that can claim to be a direct continuation of the movie before it, but the Limitless-spawned show set to debut this autumn in the States apparently can. The series has secured the services of Bradley Cooper, who starred in the 2011 thriller. Given his increasingly busy film schedule – he hasn’t been a regular lead on a TV show since the days of Alias and the sadly short-lived Kitchen Confidential – Cooper won’t be in every episode. He’s scheduled for recurring appearances (probably four or five in the first season) reprising his film role as Edward Morra. The show will actually focus on Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who discovers the mysterious, brain-boosting powers of the Nzt drug and is then roped into solving complex cases for the FBI. Yet unknown to his law enforcement bosses, he’s also being influenced by Morra, who...

If you missed the news, Bradley Cooper's 2011 sleeper hit "Limitless" is becoming a TV series on CBS. He will also serve as executive producer on the show, and it looks like he's going to take it one step further by popping up from time to time. Variety reports that the actor "may" recur on the show playing his role Eddie Mora from the movie, pending his ever busy schedule. But let's face it, Cooper is a pretty good guy to have in your pocket if sweeps is coming up and your show needs a little ratings boost. Anyway, Jake McDorman will lead the show as the Nzt addled Brian Finch who uses his drug-enhanced special abilities to help....solve FBI cases? They turned the premise of the movie about the unlocking the massive potential of the brain into a procedural? Ugh. Anyway, Jennifer Carpenter ("Dexter") is in support. Marc Webb...

Well, it looks like CBS may soon have not one but two of this year’s Oscar nominees as members of the casts of their primetime series. The network announced today that Bradley Cooper will recur in its upcoming series Limitless, which will air on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. this fall and is an adaptation of the 2011 movie that Cooper himself starred in, alongside Robert De Niro and Abbie Cornish. Cooper, who is also an executive producer on the series, will reprise his role as Eddie Morra from the original Limitless movie and serve as a mentor for the series’ main character, Brian Finch (Greek‘s Jake McDorman). Cooper will make his first appearance as Eddie in the Limitless pilot and will continue recur throughout Season 1, depending on his availability as the series moves forward. (Fun fact: Cooper and McDorman have worked together before. The two were co-stars in the 2014 Oscar-nominated film American…...

Bradley Cooper will reprise his “Limitless” character for a recurring role on CBS’ adaptation of his own 2011 film, the network announced Wednesday. The series can now firmly be considered a sequel to the feature, starring Jake McDorman as Brian Finch, who discovers the brain-enhancing powers of the mysterious drug Nzt and is coerced by the FBI into solving complex cases for them. Unbeknowest to them, he has also been taken under the wing of Cooper’s Edward Mora, who’s still a regular user of the drug and is now a senator and presidential hopeful. Never underestimate the allure of Nzt, for Bradley Cooper is set to reprise his role as fledging-writer-turned-hyperactive-genius Eddie Morra for CBS’ forthcoming Limitless TV series. In what is understood to be recurring role, The Hangover star has now risen through the ranks to become a presidential hopeful, one who stills leans on the aforementioned drug like a crutch.
According to the network, Cooper – who is set to executive produce the series – will have a part to play in the pilot of the show, before returning in future episodes whenever his schedule permits. There are little plot details available as of yet, though throughout the narrative arc, Cooper’s Morra will turn his attention to a new protégé of his own: Brian Finch. Played by Jake McDorman, Limitless‘ protagonist will follow in the footsteps of Cooper’s regular Joe, who “discovers the brain-boosting power of the mysterious drug Nzt and is...

Michelle Magorian is one of Britain’s most popular authors and it is no surprise that some of her finest works have been dramatized on TV. Inspector Morse actor John Thaw was among the stars who brought Goodnight Mr Tom to life in 1998 and on Sunday 18 December, fans of Michelle’s work can see Just Henry on ITV. As with Goodnight Mr Tom, ITV have spared no expense in assembling an all-star line up for Just Henry that includes Sheila Hancock, Dean Andrews and Elaine Cassidy. Michelle very kindly agreed to talk to Best British TV about the book, the show and her other work.
As a writer do you feel nervous about allowing someone else to bring your book to life in the form of a TV Show?...
