- Birth nameHoward Ian Flaer
- Howard Flaer has a wide variety of industry experience focusing on creative editing with a strong knowledge of visual effects. He recently completed directing and producing his first documentary '"Earth Needs More Comedians" (see IMDB trailer).
Howard originally moved to Southern California from Miami, Florida after studying electronics and journalism (including an internship at Post-Newsweek). Attending San Diego State University, he was fortunate to be mentored by several prodigious professors including Hollywood script writing guru Robert McKee whose two-year story structure and directing programs became instrumental in building Howard's editing skill set.
Howard's first Hollywood job was for the American Film Institute, giving him a chance to absorb film history and attend meetings involving leading artists of the film industry. His next position was in editorial at a preeminent visual effects company working closely with very talented people such as Tex Avery, the famous animation genius. Howard would never forget how a large room full of creative people would literally hit their heads (ie: "why didn't I think of that") after every idea Tex calmly suggested.
Along the way, Howard felt privileged to have worked closely with Academy Award winners James Horner (composer), Alan Splet (sound designer) and Ján Kadár (director).
Howard's other activities include as much volunteer work as he can fit in between freelance jobs for a wide variety of groups. He has voluntarily put together "Peace Day Comedy" in over 55 Global Comedy Clubs each year to bring awareness to the United Nations' Peace Day and the World Food Program.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Anonymous
