Ok, I'm doneEnjoy performances by Jessica Hendy, Christopher Gurr, Francesca Granell, Christine Cornish Smith, Richard Todd Adams, Madison Mitchell, Giuseppe Bausilio, Harris Milgrim, Kolton Krouse, Nathan Patrick Morgan, Sharrod Williams and Sara Jean Ford. "Phantom of the Opera" became the longest-running show on Broadway five years ago when it surpassed "Cats" (also by Andrew Lloyd Webber) and shows no sign of slowing down. It broke box office records earlier this month at its long-time home on the rialto, the Majestic Theater, and the Jan. 27 performance marked the beginning of its 24th year. Hugh Panaro has the title role while Sara Jean Ford is his would-be love interest Christine and Sean MacLaughlin plays his rival Raoul. "Phantom" opened on Jan. 26, 1988 to mixed reviews, but still went on to win seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Lloyd Webber has bankrolled a theatrical empire with the profits from various productions. The titled tunesmith tried his hand at a sequel to the show seveal seasons back in the West End. However, "Love Never Dies" has failed to find a life beyond London. The new show tells the tale...

"Phantom of the Opera" has smashed Broadway records to become the first show to run for 23 years.
On Wednesday (Jan. 26), the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, directed by Harold Prince, played its 9,566 and 9,567th performances. (Wednesdays have matinee and evening shows.)
No other Broadway show comes close to its longevity. "Cats," which had an incredible run, made it to almost 18 years. "Chicago," which has been enjoying an extremely long run for a revival and which constantly subs in new actors, is closing after 14 years.
But "Phantom," based on Gaston Leroux' tragic love story of the masked, caped figure who lurks in the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, continues on. Currently starring Hugh Panaro, Sara Jean Ford and Sean MacLaughlin, the musical has won seven Tony Awards and is in production around the world.
