Not to mention that the putting off of surgeries in favor of small, noninvasive procedures that occurred after the 2008 economic crash has swung the other way,

Chicago – I know that we’re starting to sound like a broken record here. If you check our coverage of the previous three season sets of “The Twilight Zone,” you’ll see that they’re among the highest-praised ever covered on this site. Guess what? The fourth season doesn’t break the pattern.
Blu-ray Rating: 5.0/5.0
I will say this — the fourth season of “The Twilight Zone” was definitely not the program’s best. Oh, there are certainly some highlights but, taken as a whole, it’s not as strong as any of the first three seasons. There’s your bit of criticism. It will end here.
Season four ran from January to May of 1963 and definitely features a few highlights, if not as many as previous seasons. Notable episodes include “He’s Alive,” “Mute,” and “No Time Like the Past.” One may immediately notice that this season features half the...

Hollywood writer John Furia Jr., famed for his work on scripts for TV favourites Bonanza and Hawaii Five-o , has died at the age of 79.
Bosses at the Writers Guild of America West (Wgaw), the union Furia was once president of, confirmed the news in a statement on Friday, although a cause of death has not yet been determined.
Furia began his career singing with bands in New York City before moving to California and becoming one of Hollywood's most prolific writers.
He wrote for TV series including The Twilight Zone and The Waltons as well as for the big screen, penning hits such as The Singing Nun, which starred Debbie Reynolds and Greer Garson.
Furia also helped found the University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television Writing Division and even taught screen and television writing there.
Wgaw President Patric M. Verropne says, "John's character and dignity touched and influenced generations of writers from the founders of the Guild itself to the newest of student-associates."...

The chief negotiators for Hollywood's writers urged their members Wednesday to sit tight and have faith in a bargaining strategy that so far as left writers working without a contract since May 2. WGA West chief negotiator John McLean and negotiation committee chairman John Furia Jr. made their views known in an e-mail to members, triggered in part by this week's sudden initiation of early negotiations between the DGA and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. "To put it plainly, our strategy is based on the fundamental premise that we are much more likely to get the result we want by doing what we can to move ourselves out of the schedule the producers would like to impose on us and into one that puts us at the table at the same time as our sister guilds," McLean and Furia said in a joint statement. "With this in mind, we believe it makes much more sense to keep our powder dry until our sister guilds are back at the table -- at which point our negotiating leverage increases."...

WGA West's chief negotiators reassured members Thursday that it's business as usual even though the guild is working under an expired contract, negotiations may not resume for months and at least three other guilds are waiting in the wings to start hammering out new deals with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers. Negotiating committee chairman John Furia Jr. and executive director/chief negotiator John McLean said some members are concerned about the situation, especially since the guild has never before continued to work under an expired agreement. While that has always been an option under U.S. labor law, the WGA has always opted to either get back to the bargaining table or go on strike.
