Law & Order Svu star Mariska Hargitay took a break from solving dark crimes on her hit show when she appeared in The Love Guru. The feature was a lighthearted comedy based on a character created by Mike Myers. Myers and Hargitay would eventually become good friends, which led to Hargitay’s involvement in the film.
But when they met each other for the first time, Hargitay didn’t know what to make of Myers.

Myers’ The Love Guru was based on a character the comedian came up with in the 90s named Guru Pitka. Before the character’s cinematic debut, the Austin Powers star spent much of his time workshopping and refining the persona on the comedy circuit. Hargitay once confided that she became a part of the Guru’s comedic act before the pair had even officially met.

It's good to be alive - and it's great to be a Roseanne fan! Coming off a slow news week, the single most important news since Roseanne went off the air in 1997 just came in during the weekend: Roseanne Barr will reunite with her on-screen husband, John Goodman, for her upcoming half-hour comedy Downwardly Mobile on NBC. Downwardly Mobile centers on a proprietor of a mobile home park, who's like a surrogate mother to all the unique people who live there in this challenging economy. While Roseanne herself stars as the park owner, Goodman sadly won't be teaming up with her as her husband, but rather play a man who works at the park and has a buddy-buddy relationship with her. So far so good. The show was created by Roseanne herself along with Eric Gilliand who was an executive producer on Roseanne. He and Goodman aren't the only ones bringing back the Roseanne magic,...

When there’s two rival Beauty and the Beast projects, you gotta think a trend is forming. Los Angeles, California (X17online) - Her reality show Roseanne's Nuts was cancelled by Lifetime after one season, but Roseanne Barr is bouncing back with a new scripted production deal. NBC picked up Downwardly Mobile for a pilot deal, according to Deadline. The multi-camera sitcom focuses on a working class family living in a mobile home community with their friends, all of whom are struggling in today's economy. Barr co-created the show with boyfriend John Argent and former Roseanne executive producer Eric Gilliland. This comes fourteen years after NBC passed on Roseanne, the working class sitcom that later made a successful nine year run on ABC. Downwardly Mobile is in the same familiar territory as Barr's last scripted run, as the actress feels society is in as similar a place as it was twenty years ago.

In 1987, NBC had first crack at a working class family sitcom starring then-up-and-coming standup comedian Roseanne Barr. Legendary NBC programmer Brandon Tartikoff famously passed, and the project landed at ABC where it went to series, Roseanne, which ran for 9 years. Co-created by Barr, her boyfriend John Argent and former Roseanne executive producer Eric Gilliland, who will serve as showrunner, the ensemble comedy revolves around a family and friends living in a mobile home community. It is produced by 20th Century Fox TV as it stems from a script deal the studio made with Barr in August. Barr, Argent and Gilliland will executive produce with Steven Greener,...

NEW YORK -- Animator Bill Plympton's unique brand of anarchic, gross-out humor is very much on display in his feature-length spoof of high school romances and gothic horror tales. The tale of a perfect teen couple -- a head cheerleader (Sarah Silverman) and star quarterback (Dermot Mulroney) -- whose romance becomes unglued thanks to the arrival of a geeky new student (Eric Gilliland) who comes between them, "Hair High" plays like a demented, animated cross between "Grease" and "Carrie".
Plympton's distinctive, hand-drawn style can be a little tough to take at feature length, and this film, like his previous full-length efforts, again demonstrates that narrative is not his strong suit.
But there's no denying the hilarity of the sight gags on display, from a sexually rampaging chicken mascot at a high school football game to a biology teacher literally throwing his guts up to an army of decomposing bodies rising from their watery graves.
As usual, Plympton's animation is definitely not for the kids, with a preponderance here of ribald and vulgar visuals that are not for the squeamish.
This effort features, for the first time in Plympton's oeuvre, a plethora of name performers providing the voices. Besides the aforementioned, other notables lending their aural talents include Keith and David Carradine, Martha Plimpton, Craig Bierko, Justin Long, Matt Groening and Ed Begley Jr.

- Bill Plympton is a crazy genius, and that statement has never ringed more true than after watching his latest full-length magnum opus Hair High (only just recently released here, I believe). You either love him or you’re annoyed by him, and both for the same reasons; his animation style is slow paced, absurd, twisted and gross. You either get his sense of humor or you don’t. Or maybe you just need to be in that special mood to watch one of his little fares. Either way you’re in for a roller coaster ride you might wish you could get off of but can’t. So just sit back and enjoy the ride. It’s alive!! It’S Aliiiiive!!!!! Set in the 1950s, Hair High tells the story of Bud, a teenage outcast new to his high school who quickly becomes the slave of Sherri, the school queen,
