Ram Gopal Verma Asks Schools To “Teach Students ‘How To Make A Film Like Animal’” ( Photo Credit – Facebook )
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal has set the box office on fire with its loud roar. Headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, the film is making the right kind of noise on social media and at the ticket windows. Apart from making and breaking records with its astounding collections across the globe, it’s also receiving massive criticism from a section of the audience, who are slamming the Vanga directorial left, right, and center. A couple of days back, a Congress MP bashed the film and its makers for glorifying violence, toxic masculinity, and misogyny.
As the film has divided the audience and netizens into sections, a couple of filmmakers have come out supporting the Vanga directorial. After Anurag Kashyap, Ram Gopal Varma lent his support to the film while bashing the critics for giving negative reviews.

Animal Movie Review: Ram Gopal Varma Finds Ranbir Kapoor Better Than Leonardo DiCaprio Of Wolf Of Wall Street ( Photo Credit – YouTube; IMDb; Instagram )
Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal has sparked a genuine debate about where to draw the line once violence and s*x are involved. It has also raised eyebrows about the Censor Board’s selective axing and chopping of scenes since Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s gangster drama is clearly high on two things – s*x and violence.
The film creates a debate, precisely like Reddy’s previous film, Kabir Singh. While some hailed it, Swanand Kirkire recently called the film terrible and embarrassing. He even questioned the way women have been treated in the film.
Now, Ram Gopal Varma has offered his two cents about the film in a very long review. The Satya filmmaker wrote a very long and elaborate note on how the film is and shared it on his Twitter account.

Award-winning documentary film-maker who overcame sexism in postwar Britain to enjoy a 40-year career
Sarah Erulkar, the documentary director, who has died aged 92, was something of an outsider in the realm of postwar British film-making, being Indian-born, Jewish and a woman. While outwardly mild-mannered and self-effacing, however, she had an inner feistiness that ensured she quickly came to prominence and her strength found expression in many of the 80-plus documentaries she directed over a career that spanned 40 years.
Of course Erulkar also had great talent as well as determination. When she started out in London at the illustrious Shell Film Unit in 1946, instead of the customary gradual ascent from technician or scriptwriter to director, she was promoted to director on her second commission, Flight for Tomorrow (1947), a film about the postwar repurposing of military aircraft for civilian use. That year she also directed Lord Siva Danced, a portrait of the...

Claudette Colbert movies on Turner Classic Movies: From ‘The Smiling Lieutenant’ to TCM premiere ‘Skylark’ (photo: Claudette Colbert and Maurice Chevalier in ‘The Smiling Lieutenant’) Claudette Colbert, the studio era’s perky, independent-minded — and French-born — "all-American" girlfriend (and later all-American wife and mother), is Turner Classic Movies’ star of the day today, August 18, 2014, as TCM continues with its "Summer Under the Stars" film series. Colbert, a surprise Best Actress Academy Award winner for Frank Capra’s 1934 comedy It Happened One Night, was one Paramount’s biggest box office draws for more than decade and Hollywood’s top-paid female star of 1938, with reported earnings of $426,944 — or about $7.21 million in 2014 dollars. (See also: TCM’s Claudette Colbert day in 2011.) Right now, TCM is showing Ernst Lubitsch’s light (but ultimately bittersweet) romantic comedy-musical The Smiling Lieutenant (1931), a Best Picture Academy Award nominee starring Maurice Chevalier as a French-accented Central European lieutenant in...

He may be a south Indian actor, but when Rana Daggubatti’s career decisions are compared to those of ‘superstars’ like Vikram and Surya, he makes it a point to say, “I can’t be mentioned in the same breath as them. Mar 3, Mumbai: Manoj Bajpai is one of the most talented actors of India, yet he is one of the most underrated actors in Bollywood. Born in Bihar, Manoj started his career with a serial telecasted in Doordarshan, “Swaabhimaan”. He acted in several other films as a side character before getting his big break in the film “Satya” in 1998 by Ram Gopal.

October 27, 2010: While Rakta Charitra may have scored over Jhootha Hi Sahi during the opening weekend, the latest verdict from Bollywood says that the John Abraham starrer has acquired extra notches over the last few days, so much so that the total collections from Jhootha Hi Sahi have gone past that of Rakta Charitra! Media reports claim that while the Rgv production did well down south, Abbas Tyrewala ruled in the north.

Nothing like a challenge that most our readers who are horror fans could actually win. Bollywood Filmmaker Ram Gopal says that he will give $10k to any fans who show up for a special screening of the film and can make it through without being ... well.. scared sh*tless. He plans to wire fans to a heart monitor and have them watch the film alone to prove he has made a truly scary movie that will strike to the heart of horror fans.
To me it comes off as a great marketing gimmick that will be worth the $10k it will cost him since we are all now talking about the film when we might not otherwise be. Below you can watch the films trailer.

Movie: RannDirector: Ram Gopal VarmaActors: Sudeep, Amitabh Bachchan, Paresh RawalRating: ** Exposes are cheap devices; explanations, precious. Most good art achieves the latter, great films do. This is neither an expose nor an explanation. It’s just an exercise in corniness, not very different from the subject of its scrutiny. Television news, especially Hindi, has been diving deeper into a ratings mess since one, Prince, fell into a ditch in the early 2000s. Frivolousness is sold as news content. “Kaisa lag raha hai” clowns (like the funny Rajpal Yadav in this film) pose to us as reporters. Trivia has a viral spread. Even ...

Like Mehboob Khan's Mother India and Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Satyakam, Rann shows how tough it is to hold your head high up in dignified righteousness in a world where ethics crumble faster than cookies.Ironically, there isn't much sunshine in Rann. The actress had a brush with death on a shoot in the Maldives for her southern film Sreemati, opposite superstar Upendra. It was the camera assistant whose quick thinking and deft action saved her.Recalling the incident, Celina says, " I escaped a severe injury by falling into the rocky sea from a great height. The camera buggy was supposed to go past me while I was standing near an outcrop. But it swung out of control and I toppled, barely managing to grab a buggy rung. I lost my grip on that too but camera assistant Ram Gopal Mishra grabbed me and saved me." All of this happened in just a few seconds and it was Celina's good fortune and the camera assistant's sheer presence of mind that saved the actress. But Celina also has an unshakable belief that those who have the blessings and goodwill of others have nothing to worry about.

Ram Gopal Varma, the prolific filmmaker who made some of the worst films like .Rgv ki AAG., .Nshabd. and recently .Agyaat., does not recognize even Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Recently, when Mahendra Singh Dhoni spotted Ram Gopal Varma at Bangalore airport, he went to him to say hi out of courtesy, but Ramu would have none of it. In fact, sources say that instead of listening to Dhoni, Ramu blurted out that he should take his office number and send his photographs there. Dhoni was shocked at Ram Gopal Varma.s rude reaction but said nothing. However, after Dhoni.s return, the companions of Ram Gopal Varma informed him that he was Dhoni, the heartthrob of millions of Indians, and not some upcoming actor waiting for his break in Ramu.s next flick.

The reputation of Ram Gopal Varma, with such horror films like Bhoot, Kaun?, Phoonk to his credit, has ensured that his upcoming flick Agyaat, starring Priyanka Kothari-Nitin, recovered its production cost even before its theatrical release tomorrow. The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that its producer Utv Motion Pictures has already sold the Tamil and Telugu rights of the film, which ensured the recovery of production cost beforehand. The cost of production of the film was an efficient Rs 5 crore and it was not much of a problem for the makers to recover that from southern states, wherein the film will be releasing at 150 screens in Andhra alone. Sources say that Ram Gopal Varma.s .Agyaat. is all set to release this Friday in around seven hundred theatres in its Hindi version, and after recovering its cost through Tamil and Telugu version, whatever comes through domestic market,...

Amitabh Bachchan.s upcoming film .Rann., which means .war. in Sanskrit language, is said to have tampered with the national anthem .Jan gana mana. and is likely to face trouble getting passed from the Censor Board. Sources from the director Ram Gopal Varma.s camp say that few additions to the lines of the national anthem has been made in a song of the film to suit the theme of war.
