Universal is in negotiations to acquire the screen rights to "Hero Factory", a 2010 line of robotic toy sets from Lego says Heat Vision.
Unlike other lego toys, the 'Hero' line-up comes with a dense mythology built in with various characters "hailing from a planet where a factory churns out robotic machines whose goal is to fight intergalactic evil".
"Predators" scribes Michael Finch and Alex Litvak are in negotiations to pen the script which would be a live-action adaptation and distinct from the more regular Lego inspired CGI-animated feature in production at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Mark Gordon, Bryan Zuriff, Ben Forkner and Dean Schnider will produce.

Skydance Productions, Dark Horse Entertainment, and producer Mark Gordon are teaming for a film version of Cole Haddon’s comic "The Strange Case of Hyde" reports Heat Vision
Haddon's graphic novel take on Robert Louis Stevenson’s literary classic "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" plans to give the story a less horror, more anti-heroic take "by making the split personality the center of a Victorian-era action-adventure that sees him go head-to-head against a historical villain."
Haddon will also adapt the screenplay. The announcement comes after two recent attempts to film Stevenson's classic, one by Abel Ferrara and the other by Nicholas Winding Refn, fell apart.

Some tales never die. Such is the case with the dastardly duality of The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. While Jekyll was always the focus of the story, there's no denying Hyde was lots more fun, and now more of the dark side is being adapted for the big screen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision Blog, David Ellison's Skydance Prods., Dark Horse Entertainment and producer Mark Gordon have teamed to adapt the upcoming Dark Horse comic The Strange Case of Hyde, written by screenwriter Cole Haddon.
The good news is that this project is not a retelling of the story we've all experienced countless times by now. The folks behind it are looking to give it a fresh take by making the split personality the center of a Victorian-era action-adventure.
Robert Louis Stevenson's original novella has been the basis of dozens of different takes on the story.

With "The Karate Kid" scoring not just surprisingly good reviews but a stellar box-office opening over the weekend, the next gold mine of 80's and 90's remakes would seem to be the family comedy genre.
Now, Pajiba reports that a remake of the Christina Applegate-led 1991 comedy "Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" is in the works at the Mark Gordon Company. The project is apparently out to writers at this stage.
The original followed five kids who're left alone for the summer with an elderly babysitter who dies on the first night. The eldest sister soon lies her way into an executive position with a fashion designer in order to get money to survive. Though not a classic by any means, the film has enough of a fanbase that you knew one day this would come.
It also begs the question as to what late 80's/early 90's family films will be next?...
