In Thursday night’s Jeffrey Donovan-centric episode of “Law & Order,” titled “Appraisal,” his character Frank Cosgrove and partner Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) suspect a gallery owner has been murdered but have no body to prove their case.
In a video clip exclusively shared with TheWrap of the episode, which you can watch at the top of this story, Cosgrove assures the missing woman’s brother that he’ll do everything he can to find her. He also tells the man, “Prepare yourself,” since he believes that the sister is dead, murdered like one of her artist friends who was at the opening night event the night before.
In photos from the episode, Cosgrove reluctantly celebrates his 50th birthday and questions a suspect.
“Appraisal” also features guest stars Nicholas Podany, Kate Jennings Grant, Christina Brucato, Patrick Mulvey Adam Smith Jr., Gina Daniels, Atticus Cain and Brenda Luz Orellana.

HBO Max’s Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin season one episode seven opens with Elodie (Lea Salonga) receiving her first communication from A. It’s a flyer for the Millwood Carnival in 1999 and on the back, it reads: “Meet me in the hall of mirrors.”
A flashback shows Elodie (Emily Bautista) and Angela (Gabriella Pizzolo) running through the hall of mirrors. They begin to kiss and Davie (Ava DeMary) catches them. Elodie backs away and asks Angela what she’s doing, adding, “Did you see that, Davie? How she attacked me?”
Davie warns Angela, “Well, don’t think you can come on to me next.”
Present-day Elodie burns the flyer.
Imogen (Bailee Madison) and Tabby (Chandler Kinney) learn from Faran that her mom’s been discharged from the hospital.

The film industry has a long and unhealthy obsession with the weight of its female stars. The more who speak up – like Moretz did this week – the more chance there is of change
This week, 20-year-old actor Chloë Grace Moretz said she had been “body-shamed” by a male actor on set when she was 15. He was her co-star at the time, in his 20s, cast in the role of her love interest, and he said he would never date her in real life, because she was too big. It was a comment that drove her to tears. Moretz is the latest in a string of Hollywood stars who are prepared to be more open about their experiences of sexism in the industry, from Jennifer Lawrence to Emma Watson. Like the late Carrie Fisher, who revealed she was asked to lose weight before appearing in the new Star Wars series, Moretz...

ABC has not yet announced if it will cancel or renew the Notorious TV show for a second season, but we want to know what you want them to do. Back in October, the alphabet network cut the Notorious season one order from 13 episodes to ten. Still, as previously reported, there is still a (slim) chance for the drama. ABC is paying to keep the Notorious sets, rather than striking them.Starring Daniel Sunjata and Piper Perabo, Notorious follows the symbiotic relationship between a charismatic defense attorney and a powerhouse TV producer, as they attempt to control the media, the justice system, and each other. ABC has cut the Notorious TV show's production order from 13 episodes to 10. Deadline reports this is not an "outright cancellation," since the Alphabet Network plans to air all ten episodes. Maybe that seems like a good sign to hopeful fans, but it is not. As the television world exists now, one of the main pushes we see from every network is an effort to sub-brand itself as having a “kind of show.” That’s a slightly convoluted way of saying that the networks think fans of one of their shows look for a similar “feel” from the next show. If a new show were thrown at you, they want you to be able to guess who is going to air it.
With that in mind, there’s an extent to which it’s hard to blame ABC for Notorious. It had to seem like a good Shondaland fit, and it looks decent on paper. You do you ABC.
If you throw in Josh Berman (Bones, Drop Dead Diva, The Blacklist) as creator, so much the better.
The trouble is that the world of laughable melodrama, and/or purposeful guilty pleasures that are overwrought with contrivance as a writing style,...

According to movies and TV, at least, sex and journalism go hand in hand. It’s a recognizable stereotype—pop culture frequents the archetypical hard-hitting reporter who boinks their way to one big scoop after another—but it goes completely against the basic ethical principles to which real life journalists must hold themselves. Sure, a dedicated journo often needs to be pushy to get a tough source to crack, but it’s high crime to sleep one’s way through the red tape, even if it helps bring truths to the public.
ABC’s Notorious builds its entire plot on illicit relationships between the media and their subjects. There isn’t a single character in this show that takes the adage “don’t sleep where you work” to heart, but that’s actually what makes the show great.

CBS has released the first official description and image for the upcoming sixth episode of Supergirl. This one is set to air on the same day as Gotham‘s midseason finale, which may just prove to be pretty tough competition in the ratings.
However, Supergirl has so far forged a really strong identity of its own, and while there are a few kinks which definitely need to be worked out over the coming weeks and months, it’s so far proving to be a great addition to Warner Bros.’ slate of DC Comics projects on the small screen (it feels so close to Arrow and The Flash that it’s hard not get mad that The CW decided against picking it up).
Here’s the description of the episode – titled “Red Faced” – which is set to put Supergirl against Red Tornado:

It was a star-studded night at Manhattan’s Pierre Hotel as over 150 artists — including stars Tim Gunn, Stephen Colbert, and Audra McDonald (and yes, even some Muppets) — came out to celebrate stage and screen star Neil Patrick Harris at the Drama League’s 30th annual all-star gala.
It’s no secret that Harris — who will soon be back on stage starring in a new version of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which opens April 14 — has garnered quite an admiration from the communities he’s been involved in. But there was no question Monday night that Harris is admired for more than just his talent.

In this taut play, a man is on his deathbed while his wife anticipates his demise. Their adult children have a vicious fight. The son gets beaten badly and the daughter falls off the wagon.
"The Lyons" is a comedy.
And an insightful, truly excellent one.
Linda Lavin ("Alice") is Rita, a savvy woman who leafs through "House Beautiful," looking for decorating tips and chatting to her husband. She reels off old stories about neighbors until he explodes. "What the f*** are you talking about?" Ben (Dick Latessa, Broadway's "Hairspray" TV's "The Good Wife") screams in his opening line.
Unflappable, Rita explains she must redo their tacky living room where the "chairs are the color of disgust and the carpet is matted down with resignation."
When Ben says, "I'm dying, Rita," she responds, "I know, but try to be positive."
Playwright Nicky Silver delivers one perfect line after another. When...

The Lyons Cort Theatre, NY
Despite solid performances from Linda Lavin and Dick Latessa, The Lyons is a lost cause before the curtain closes on the first act, and there's no improvement thereafter. A fumbling and confused script by Nicky Silver is the production's greatest weakness, but some forced and postured performances don't help matters.
Linda Lavin is a powerful and commanding presence with the sexiness of a confident, mature woman. She possesses a firm grasp of sadistic humor, getting laughs with facial expressions and eye movements alone, and her first scene with Dick Latessa would have you think that you were in for an enjoyable dark comedy. Lavin and Latessa have a twisted chemistry and establish a comic rhythm that the production's other players are never quite able to jump into. Latessa attaches himself to his hospital bed with more than an IV, creating a believable deathbed atmosphere without...
