- Maralou studied piano for 12 years and voice for 13 years.
- While Maralou was appearing on "The Greatest Show on Earth" TV show with Jack Palance, the two were unexpectedly drawn to each other, leading to a serious four year on again, off again love affair.
- While swimming at her house, Brooklyn Dodger baseball player, Chuck Connors was married with babies and excitedly told Maralou that he had been offered a small role in the Tracy/Hepburn movie, "Pat and Mike". He said he was thinking about quitting baseball for filming. Maralou strongly advised him against doing that, saying actors could rarely make a living on a regular basis, that he had responsibilities with his family. He didn't listen and for the next 35 years he never stopped razzing her about it.
- If she was ever to have a son, her favorite intended name for him was Lance. In 1969, she married Lance Petri. At that time, her ex-husband remarked, "Well, you always wanted a Lance. Who would have imagined you would get one this way?".
- The name "Maralou" was created using her grandmother's first name, Margaret, then combined it with her natural mother's middle name of Lucille.
- When she was 18 years old, she gave a swimming party for Billy Graham who followed up by preaching in her backyard to approximately 100 young people, including 40+ exchange students from around the world.
- After reading for the French spy lead role in "Adventures of the Falcon, the director said, "You French accent and reading is very good". With that he made a circle with his thumb and forefinger, put it to his eye and squinted through it at her, like he was the camera, saying, "But, can you look French?" Trying not to laugh, she opened her photo book of head shots. Fortunately, there was a large shot of her in a trench coat, wearing a beret on her head, and a cigarette in her hand. "Oh." he said, "You've got the part!" Somehow he thought that's how all French people dressed and that was that was needed to look French.
- One day, Maralou drove into her driveway and found a strange man looking over her wall examining her back lawn. They both were startled. Being totally embarrassed, he dug into his jacket for his card. He was William Randolph Hearst, Jr. He said he had walked passed the house for years, as he often came to visit his brother, who lived around the corner and had always wondered what the grounds looked like. He was given an inside tour, after which he invited her to his residence in San Francisco for dinner with him.
- At a party at Gray's home, someone brought Kenny Kingston, the "Psychic Medium to the Stars", who told her that one of his celebrity contacts from the 'other world' was Lupe Velez. Lupe 'said' she like Maralou a great deal, which smilingly gave comfort to her, since she had never heard any 'strange creaking'.
- At her home, "Villa Frontanas" she hosted the inaugural "Women of the Year Hall of Fame" event which was televised around the world honoring Chris Evert Lloyd, Dorothy Hamill, and Peggy Fleming.
- Always an admirer of the name Lana Turner, she decided to name her second daughter Delana by adding a 'De' to be melodious with the last name De Nicholas. Delana grew up and married John Turner which made her name Delana Turner.
- Maralou Gray and her parents were the first family to occupy the house on Rodeo Drive after the death of Lupe Velez. Her father gifted the home to her when she was 27 years old and she lived there for 38 years.
- When auditioning for her role of the first woman barber of the west in "Death Valley Days", she was asked by the director if she could drive a buckboard, she hastily said yes. Not having the faintest idea what hat even was, she quickly called the nearby movie ranches and they agreed to give her quick lessons. Driving two horses in front of the wagon and she stopped right on the chalk line. Even the crew shut their eyes.
- Forty years later, requests for signed pictures of Lupe Velez and Johnny Weissmuller were still being received at her house from all over the world.
- In 1954, Maralou played Paul Henreid's girlfriend in the motion picture, "Pirates of Tripoli". In 1969, Paul's daughter, Monica, introduced her to Lance Gabor Petri, who she married later that year.
- In Chicago, her natural mother and father's courting song was "I Can't Give You Anything but Love, Baby". Nineteen years later, in Beverly Hills, California, the composer of that song, Jimmy McHugh, became the official sponsor of Maralou's singing career.
