San Francisco, Feb 20 (Ians) A first-generation iPhone has sold for a record-breaking price of 63,356 at an auction, the highest sale ever recorded for an original 2007 iPhone.
On Sunday evening, an iPhone, still factory sealed, sold for 52,797 at Lcg Auctions (a premier auction house in the US) with a 20 per cent buyer’s premium fee bringing the total sale to over 60,000, according to iMore.
Karen Green, a cosmetic tattoo artist in the US, received the 8Gb smartphone as a congratulations gift for starting a new job in 2007.
This was the first iPhone, featuring a 3.5-inch display and a 2-megapixel camera, retailing for 599, a far cry from the best iPhone of today with its 6.7-inch display and a 48-megapixel camera, the report said.
Originally released as an AT&T exclusive (an American multinational telecommunications holding company), the iPhone did not work with any other carriers at launch.

Tom Spurgeon, the longtime comics industry journalist, historian, editor and author passed away at the age of 50 today, according to a Facebook post by his brother Whit Spurgeon.
Tom was best known for his comics industry news website The Comics Reporter since 2004, and for his five-year stint as Managing Editor and then Executive Editor of The Comics Journal from 1994 to 1999. The Comics Reporter won the Eisner Award for Best Comics-Related Periodical/Journalism in 2010, 2012, and 2013.
The last time most of us saw Tom was at Baltimore Comic Con just a month ago. We always thought there would be more time to talk shop, discuss web site migration plans, and to gush about the medium we loved. And now there isn’t.
Karen Green has announced that the Global Webcomics Web Archive members have agreed that, despite it not strictly meeting their criteria, and barring any objections from stakeholders, The Comics Reporter will be archived.

Warning: This article contains Us-pace spoilers for Game of Thrones that some readers may prefer to avoid.
Seriously: Do not read on if you haven't watched 'The Children' yet - or you only have yourself to blame!
"Once a cheater, always a cheater!" - Rachel Karen Green, September 25, 1997
We might live in the age of the TV anti-hero - with theft, deception and even murder often considered par for the course for our protagonists - but one sin that remains simply beyond the pale on television is cheating.
So while Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) was hit hard when his beloved Shae (Sibel Kekilli) betrayed him at his trial, the revelation that she'd been sleeping with his father Tywin (Charles Dance) - the lusty lion - was on a whole other level.
With her worst secret exposed in last night's Game of Thrones season four finale, Shae joins the dubious ranks...
