Tucker Carlson confirmed on Tuesday that he will be interviewing Russian President Vladimir Putin during his ongoing trip to Moscow. Carlson, a longtime defender of Putin’s authoritarian regime, would be the first American journalist granted a one-on-one interview with the dictator since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
In the video released on X (formerly Twitter), Carlson confirmed that the interview is scheduled to take place, but did not provide a release date. The former Fox News host stated that “there are risks to conducting an interview like this,” but...

Updated, 2:21 Pm: As the American military Friday pounds Iranian proxy groups in the Middle East over the killing of three U.S. soldiers last week, President Joe Biden has warned more bombs could be coming.
“This past Sunday, three American soldiers were killed in Jordan by a drone launched by militant groups backed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps,” the president said in a statement just released by the White House. “Earlier today, I attended the dignified return of these brave Americans at Dover Airforce Base, and I have spoken with each of their families. This afternoon, at my direction, U.S. military forces struck targets at facilities in Iraq and Syria that the Irgc and affiliated militia use to attack U.S. forces.”

Fox News provided more details of how correspondent Benjamin Hall, severely injured in Ukraine, was evacuated from the region, over the border to Poland and ultimately to a hospital in Germany.
Last week, cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski and Oleksandra “Sasha” Kuvshynova, who was working as a freelance consultant for the network, were killed when their vehicle was struck by incoming fire near Kyiv. Hall was with them as they reported on the Russian invasion, and he is recovering at Landstuhl Medical Center.
In a segment on Monday, anchor Dana Perino credited Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and the Polish and Ukrainian Armed Forces for their assistance, as well as the group Save Our Allies. It was formed last year in response to the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan amid the U.S. withdrawal, as a way of quickly mobilizing to rescue Americans and other allies behind the border.

Update, 12:43 Pm Pt: Fox News confirmed that Oleksandra “Sasha” Kuvshynova, who was working as a freelance consultant for the network, was killed along with cameraman Pierre Zakrzewsk when their vehicle was struck by incoming fire near Kyiv.

On Thursday’s episode of his Fox News show, Tucker Carlson let forth quite a rant bashing unnamed reporters who have debunked a conspiracy theory he keeps plugging. And on his list of bash-ees? Apparently one of his own coworkers, national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin.
Tucker Carlson has for the last couple of weeks frequently talked about one of the lies Vladimir Putin has advanced to justify his unprovoked invasion of Ukraine: accusing the United States of funding biological weapons research in Ukraine. Carlson seems to believe this is true or at least possible, but it actually isn’t true. In fact, what actually happened is that the U.S. has been funding efforts to safely convert old Soviet-era bioweapons labs for use in more benign purposes.

Tucker Carlson once again used his tony spot atop Fox News’ primetime lineup to advance some conspiracy theories about the Russian war against Ukraine. This time it was a twofer: 1) the idea America was running secret bioweapons labs in Ukraine, and 2) that the U.S. is actually the one attacking Russia with a disinformation campaign, rather than the other way around.
Victoria Nuland, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs in the Biden administration, testified this week before the Senate and discussed biolabs in Ukraine. Right wingers say this is proof that Vladimir Putin isn’t lying — and that the U.S. apparently has been funding secret weapons research in Ukraine. But as even a Fox News’ own Jennifer Griffin explained tonight to Sean Hannity, “those are Soviet-era biolabs that U.S. has been engaged since 2005 in trying to help Ukraine convert the research facilities safely.”

As Russian military forces continue to invade Ukraine, Fox News foreign correspondent Trey Yingst says he is focused on the “pursuit of truth” even as some of the network’s top anchors minimize the situation.

The news focus on Presidents Day was of Russia’s leader Vladimir Putin, as he ordered troops to enter two separatist regions of Ukraine for “peacekeeping” purposes after he recognized their independence.
Cable news networks carried parts of Putin’s speech, with his move viewed by correspondents and foreign policy analysts as another step toward war.
The White House responded with a vow to begin imposing sanctions, with President Joe Biden poised to issue an executive order to prohibit trade, investment and financing in those areas. The sanctions also will include any person “determined to operate” in those areas.

Chris Wallace is leaving Fox News Channel, he announced on his program Sunday morning, and will join the CNN Plus streaming-video outlet, a move that abruptly sunders the cable-news outlet’s connection with one of its most recognized and independent journalists.
Wallace delivered the news himself, in the last minutes of his “Fox News Sunday,” which he has anchored for nearly two decades on the Fox Corporation-owned outlet. “I want to try something new, to go beyond politics to all the things I’m interested in. I’m ready for a new adventure. And I hope you’ll check it out,” said Wallace. The words will be the last he utters on the program.
CNN confirmed Wallace’s jump less than two hours after he announced his departure, and said he would lead a daily show during which he would interview newsmakers from the worlds of politics, business, sports and culture.

President Donald Trump spent much of his Labor Day tweeting about an article in The Atlantic that painted him as dismissive of American soldiers who died in battle and unwilling to visit their graves. The most explosive claim in the piece is that Trump called fallen soldiers “suckers” and “losers,” something that he denies.
It’s not a surprise, then, that he seemed piqued when asked about the article in a news conference on Monday.
As Reuters’ White House reporter Jeff Mason, who was wearing a mask, began to ask his question, Trump interrupted.
“You’re going to have to take that off. Just take it off,” said Trump as he pointed to Mason’s mask.
“How many feet are you away?” asked a seemingly irritated president. “If you don’t take it off, you’re very muffled. So if you take it off, it would be a lot easier.

Update 5 Pm: Jennifer Griffin has fired back at President Donald Trump after he questioned her reporting. The Fox News correspondent phoned into Neil Cavuto’s show on Saturday defending her “straight down the middle” reporting and her sources.
“I can tell you that my sources are unimpeachable,” Griffen told Cavuto. “I feel very confident in what we have reported at Fox.”
Griffin also stood by the credibility of her sources, noting that they are not anonymous to her and that she doubts “they are anonymous to the president,” as well. She went on to explain that people have been reluctant to step forward and speak about the President, after seeing how he “destroyed” people who have crossed him and how he has “weaponized” Twitter.

President Donald Trump continued to push back today against The Atlantic’s story accusing him of disparaging slain military veterans, offering retweeted rebuttals from his supporters and former staff.
Trump also attacked Fox News, where national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin issued a report on Friday backing up some details of The Atlantic story, which said he had referred to slain American soldiers buried at a French cemetery as “losers” and “suckers.” Griffin cited four anonymous sources in her reporting, something Trump took issue with.
“All refuted by many witnesses. Jennifer Griffin should be fired for this kind of reporting. Never even called us for comment. @FoxNews is gone!” Trump tweeted.
Trump also devoted tweet-time to support for his executive order ending federal funding of critical race theory seminars, and gave a shout-out to former football coach Lou Holtz, who recently spoke at the Republican National Convention in support of the president.

The Atlantic’s bombshell story that Donald Trump made disparaging comments about American soldiers triggered a day-long guessing game and debate over the piece’s anonymous sources.
Trump himself joined in, telling reporters that “it could have been a guy like” his former chief of staff, John Kelly, even as the White House spent much of the day attacking The Atlantic and insisting that its story was false. As if to forestall the damage should someone like Kelly go public, Trump took the opportunity to also disparage his former employee, a retired four star general. “He was unable to handle the pressure of this job,” Trump said.

Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic reported on Thursday that President Trump doesn’t have quite as much respect for the military as he claims, to put it mildly.
Goldberg lists several examples. The most prominent is an account of why, during a 2018 trip to Paris, Trump declined to visit the nearby Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, where Americans who died at Belleau Wood during World War I are buried. Trump claimed at the time that he couldn’t go by helicopter because it was raining, and that it wasn’t feasible to drive.

Balkanic Media, a production company based in Belgrade, has an extensive post-lockdown production plan containing thorough and comprehensive guidelines on maintaining staff and crew’s safety on-set. All crew members are going through training to ensure safety measures are maintained.

Update, 6:53 Pm Pt: President Donald Trump responded to the news of Iran’s retaliatory missile strike on two Iraqi air bases with a surprisingly upbeat message: “All is well!”
“All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far! I will be making a statement tomorrow morning.”

Banshee, Season 3: Episode 5 – “Tribal”
Written by Adam Targum
Directed by Oc Madsen
Airs Friday nights at 10 on Cinemax
If it’s worth quoting, it’s worth quoting twice:
“I don’t know if anyone ever changes, really. But we can evolve, right? I mean, that’s what we’re trying to do, isn’t it? Just become better versions of ourselves?”
- Deputy Siobhan Kelly
When it comes to episodic television, no one expects any show to simply be the best. If such objectivity existed, there would be no point in watching anything but the single best series out there. Everything else would be a waste of time, because energy would be spent on an inferior product. But that’s not how these things work. Every viewer has different tastes than the next. Some don’t like Banshee. Some absolutely love it. Instead of expecting or hoping a show...

Banshee, Season 2: Episode 9 – “Homecoming”
Written by Jonathan Tropper
Directed by Greg Yaitanes
Airs Friday nights at 10 Cinemax
At the risk of digression, it’s worth pointing out how Banshee is in a similar situation right now to where The Walking Dead was a few months ago. The insanely popular zombie series had a third season building up to a confrontation that never really happened or resolved, and it wasn’t until the midseason finale of the current season that some conclusiveness was brought to that part of the story. Banshee didn’t, by any means, thoroughly disappoint viewers in the same way with the Rabbit confrontation last year. That battle did take place and our heroes technically beat the Ukrainian crime lord. It might have been the youth of the series that helped decide it was best to not let Rabbit die, though, so that he could wreak some more havoc on our protagonists.

I'm going to warn you in advance to get the tissues out. Earlier today on Studio B Shep Smith asked newly returned Fox News correspondent (and mother of three) Jennifer Griffin, reporting from Kabul (Gen. Petraeus likes Enya!) to talk a bit about what it was like to be back on air after surviving Stage 3 breast cancer. That's when things got teary.
