A teenage boy's penchant for finding some form of trouble is worth studying.
In Lifetime's newest original film, Friday Night Sext Scandal, we have a storyline inspired by real events.
It intends to explore the dark underbelly of the high school experience regarding teenage boys who go on the hunt for sexually explicit photos from their female counterparts.
And in true Lifetime fashion, they explore the scandalous nature behind this from a different perspective.
The film focuses on one teen boy's experience of getting reeled into these deplorable actions.
The film stars Riverdale's Anthony Timpano as Shawn, a 16-year-old jock who is just starting to see advancement in his football career when he's upgraded to a starter on the team.
Of course, with advancement in the athletic realm comes increased popularity and the opportunity to hang out with upperclassmen, too.
And we all know very little good comes from associating with upper-class jocks.

Director Christine Luby is swapping out Crystal Bay Penguin Sanctuary for Dolphin Bay for her third production with the Steve Jaggi Company, currently underway in South East Queensland.
Having helmed You, Me and the Penguins earlier this year, Luby is now turning her attention to The Mystery of Dolphin Bay, which follows 15-year old Quinn Perkins, played by US actress Izabela Rose, as she spends the summer working as an intern with her best friend Daniela (Ella Proberts) and marine biologist father Charlie (Rowan Chapman).
While she enjoys researching the reef’s unnatural shift in biodiversity, Quinn notices a shift in her relationship with her long-time friend Daniela, and soon agrees to join fellow intern Teddy (Jayden McGinlay) on a treasure hunt as a distraction.
Mysterious events start to occur, and the teens assume that they are being haunted by local legend Everly Fallow.
After receiving Everly’s journal from his daughter,...

Food Network is teaming up with its sister streaming service Discovery+ to get into the holiday TV movie business with the cable channel’s first-ever scripted film, “Candy Coated Christmas.”
Though the movie, which features “The Pioneer Woman” star Ree Drummond in her first ever acting role, is a Food Network production, it will not air on the cable channel, instead being available only to Discovery+ subscribers when it debuts in November.
Here’s the official synopsis for “Candy Coated Christmas”:
Molly Gallant (Molly McCook), a Los Angeles-based marketing executive on top of the world, is planning a new business venture with her best friend and heading to the airport for her annual holiday father-daughter trip to Hawaii when she learns that the seed money she was counting on for her business has disappeared. Molly’s father (John McCook) suggests she visit the small town where her late mother grew up,...

Discovery Plus and Food Network are staking their claim to the holiday movie business.
Food Network has completed production on its first-ever scripted movie, “Candy Coated Christmas,” which won’t air on the linear cable channel but rather on Discovery Plus. The feel-good holiday movie features Ree Drummond, host of the cabler’s long-running “The Pioneer Woman.”
“Candy Coated Christmas” will mark the first original scripted movie to air on Discovery Plus. Discovery and Food Network aim to grab a slice of the holiday movie audience that has proven to be so lucrative for Hallmark Channel, Freeform, Discovery’s OWN and other cablers. Food Network and its sibling channels under the Discovery umbrella such as HGTV and Investigation Discovery already attract large female audiences, which is a good fit with the holiday movie demo.
Kathleen Finch, Discovery’s chief lifestyle brands officer, said the plan is to promote “Candy Coated...

What’s a romantic holiday TV movie without a big kiss, whether it’s under the mistletoe, in the snow or by the fire? Not as merry, that’s for sure. That’s why Lifetime began to troubleshoot the actors-kissing-during-a-pandemic conundrum it was facing while shooting its annual slate of small-screen Christmas films, which total 30 projects this year.
“Everybody was incredibly concerned about, as we were figuring it out, making sure that we were following the best possible guidelines to keep people safe,” Amy Winter, head of programming at Lifetime, told TheWrap. “We all sat down, even before we got started, saying, how is anybody even going to kiss in these movies, given the circumstances? And the greatest, oddest solution I’ve seen so far is people kissing through plexiglass that can be removed in post, which is absolutely phenomenal.”
That solution Winter told TheWrap about was used in “Christmas Ever After,...

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network has expanded its holiday season programming with three new original Christmas movies set to air over three consecutive Tuesdays in December.

Fox and Jackée Harry, will premiere on December 8; followed by Cooking Up Christmas, starring Greenleaf’s Lamman Rucker and Meagan Holder on December 15; and First Christmas, starring Idara Victor and Tonea Stewart, will premiere on December 22. The movies join the previously announced Our OWN Christmas gospel music special hosted by Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin which airs on Tuesday, December 1 at 9 Pm Et/Pt.
OWN last year made its first foray into original holiday movies, which do well viewership-wise, especially among women who are OWN’s core demographic.
“Following the overwhelming success of our inaugural holiday movie slate last year, we’re excited to announce all-new movies with heartwarming storylines the whole family can enjoy,” said Tina Perry,...
