Besouro was a Shadow And Act Film Find feature in 2009, with a trailer that thrilled just about everyone who saw it – or at least, peaked interest. So, we’ve been on this one for awhile now, and you’ve had a few opportunities to watch it over the last 2 years, notably when I posted the full film on this blog back in February of last year. I think it was up and available for a week or so.
And if you didn’t see it when I posted it, and you’ll be attending the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles later this month (from Feb 16 to the 23rd), you’ll have the opportunity to catch Besouro in a theater, on a large screen, as it was meant to be seen.
I saw it, thoroughly enjoyed it, and strongly recommend it, if you can see it.

If you didn’t watch it when I posted the full film on this blog back in February, and you live in Chicago, you just might be able to catch Besouro in a theater, on a large screen instead, as it was meant to be seen, when Black World Cinema screens it again at Ice Theaters Chatham (210 W. 87th Street), a week from today, Monday, November 29, at 7pm.
Admission is just $5.00.
So, for any S&A readers in or nearby Chi-town, who haven’t seen the film yet, do yourself a favor and check out Besouro at next Monday! I saw it, thoroughly enjoyed it, and recommend it, especially on a larger screen!

Here’s a film that we’ve been looking forward to seeing since first discovering it last summer – Besouro. Read my original post on the film Here.
It screened in its country of origin – Brazil – last October, and made its non-Brazilian debut at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this month. Although I heard/read little about the screening, in terms of critic reviews and such.
As far as I know, it hasn’t reached American shores, and is without an American (or any non-Brazilian) distributor.
Well, while not the most ideal way to see it, I was just alerted (thanks André!) to the fact that it’s been uploaded onto the web, in actually pretty decent quality, even when expanded to full screen, which is how I’m watching it of course. Like I said, not the most ideal way to premiere it, but, for those anxious enough to see it,...

Besouro was a Shadow And Act Film Find feature last year, in June, with a trailer that thrilled just about everyone who saw it – or at least, peaked interest.
Read my original post on the film Here.
It screened in its country of origin – Brazil – last October, and, as far as I know, it hasn’t been shown anywhere outside of Brazil… until now anyway.
I was just looking over the list of films invited to the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival next month and guess what film I saw, listed in the Panorama section of the festival?
So, this is likely its first public screening outside of Brazil, which is a good thing. Why? Well, it means that there’s a good chance that it’ll travel, and we all just might get to see the film, whether at a local festival, or an eventual theatrical release, or on DVD.
