Jim Clark, who won both an Oscar and BAFTA for his film editing work on Roland Joffe's The Killing Fields, has died. He was 85. The news was announced by The Guild of British Film and TV Editors, which said Clark had been ill for some time. "He was a likeable and respected man and will be missed especially by Laurence his wife," said John Grover, the Guild's vice chairman, who had known Jim for many years. Born in 1931, Clark cut his teeth as an assistant editor at the famed Ealing Studios in London, where he found himself

While we’e been covering many of the Scream Factory releases for our Us readers, Arrow Video has been releasing horror classics in the UK for a while now and they recently announced their next set of Blu-ray releases. Take a look at release details, cover art, and bonus features for The Fall of the House of Usher, Lifeforce, Deranged, and Squirm. We’ve also included details for Motel Hell, which we covered earlier this week.
Motel Hell: “It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent fritters!” cackle the brother-and-sister team behind the finest smoked meats in the county. They also run the friendly Motel Hello (the ‘o’ in the neon sign sometimes goes on the blink), and no matter how many times you’ve seen Psycho or The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, you can be sure that everything will be perfectly above board here as Vincent...

I first came across R. Thomas Riley's work when I read and reviewed the great collection The Monster Within Idea. Since then, R. Thomas has written several other collections and novels, and worked with some of the more well-known “small” press publishers.
From his bio: R. Thomas Riley is the author of the short story collection The Monster Within Idea (2009-2011), published by Hugo-nominated Apex Publications and re-released as a Kindle exclusive in 2011. His second story collection, Their Last Dying Acts, was released in July 2012; and Husks was released in August 2012. If God Doesn’t Show - a Gibson Blount novel (co-written with John Grover) - was published by Permuted Press and Audible.com in August 2012. The Flesh of Fallen Angels - a Gibson Blount novella (co-written with Roy C. Booth) - was published by Grand Mal Press in February 2012. Diaphanous (co-written with Roy C. Booth) is available now on Kindle.

Morpheus Tales – Undead Special (pdf preview)
Morpheus Tales was kind enough to send me a copy of their Undead Special Issue and I am glad they did.
If you, like me enjoy the undead in all their forms you will love the Undead Special.
The cover art is simply beautiful, as is the other artwork interspersed throughout the magazine.
But it is the quality of the fiction that makes this magazine stand out. There are apocalyptic zombie stories, vampire stories and stories that really can’t be categorized except that they deal with the undead.
A few of the highlights for me were:
Never Trust A Vampire by L.B. Goddard - A simply wonderful vampire tale.
The Pit by John Grover – A terrible way to treat the undead.
Ghost Light by Kristi Petersen Schoonover – A haunting tale of a society treating their departed…shall we say, a little different.
