The first round of the NBA Playoffs is rapidly coming to a close, with the big contenders flexing their muscles and eyeing a place in the NBA Finals. The Cavaliers and Warriors seem natural favourites to compete for the Larry O’Brien trophy come summer, but, as we’ve seen previously, the biggest stars don’t always shine on the most pressurised stage of all.
The climactic series represents an opportunity for every player to etch his name into folklore; it’s best-of-seven format forces an entire squad to step up to the plate, unable to reply upon the same central figures for so many intense games in a row.
Over the years there have been some classic series, particularly in modern times. While many feared that NBA basketball would die a slow death after the end of the Michael Jordan era, the action has – if anything – become even more exciting,...

There are some TV shows that have an innate ability to let us put aside our troubles, at least for one precious hour.
American Crime is not one of those shows.
On the contrary, the ABC drama — which was created and executive-produced by Academy Award winner John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) — tackles a number of heavy topics (murder, drugs and racial profiling, just to name a few) that have all been particularly prevalent in real-life headlines.
That invites the question: Will American Crime‘s timeliness turn viewers away, or pull them in? Before we get your answer to that query,...

The fact that John Ridley, of 12 Years a Slave, created and executive produces American Crime is probably, oddly, too informative for the show’s own good.
If you know the film, you are correct about your estimation of what you’re going to get from the show, generally speaking, except insofar as the scope of the subjects up for analysis. This could be a turn off for some viewers, just based on the “everything can’t happen to this one set of people,” theory of non-watchability.
If you don’t know the film, you probably aren’t any more moved to see the show than you were the movie, and you should really try your best to overcome that, because the show is gripping, powerful, and engaging, almost in spite of itself.
The show kicks off with Russ (Timothy Hutton) having to identify the body of his son, Matt Skokie.

In recent years, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have developed something of a reputation of buying a decent players and turning them in to great players. Michael Carrick, Dimitar Berbatov, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale, for example, all arrived at White Hart Lane as young players (of varying degrees) with bags of talent and even more potential, only to leave for astronomical fees after stepping up their games to new levels for the Lilywhites.
However, there have been an equally large number of players who showed a certain level of promise at White Hart Lane that was never fulfilled. Whether they were complete disasters, youngsters who fell from grace or players who were very good, but could have been truly great had it not been for injuries or other extenuating circumstances – and that’s what this article is going to be about.

ABC has begun its run-up to next week’s upfront presentations by giving the greenlight to a seventh season of Castle, a fourth season to Once Upon a Time and an 11th year to Grey’s Anatomy. Scandal will be back, as will Modern Family and The Middle.
It also gave a fourth year to Revenge and a second year to Resurrection. The Goldbergs earned a second season, too. Somebody dodged a bullet, eh?
As of right now six new dramas have been picked up for fall, including the latest one from Shonda Rhimes. Here are the official log lines:...
