Joe Keery got a key, early endorsement from Taylor Swift for his hit song, “End of Beginning.”
During an appearance on The Spout Podcast, the actor-musician shared an anecdote from the day he and Swift were both spotted at the Electric Lady recording studio in New York City. The Tortured Poets Department singer-songwriter told the Stranger Things star she “really liked the track.”
“I just happened to be there the day that she was there. And she’s really nice. I mean, I’ve met her a couple of times. Before anything happened with this track, she said, ‘Hey, I really love that track of yours, ‘End Of Beginning,’” Keery said on the podcast. “She just said that she had heard the song and, you know, obviously I’m like, ‘What? You heard that song? How the hell did you hear that song?'”

The Netflix series was an instant hit when it debuted in 2016 and has since become a pop culture mainstay. After the two-part fourth season set the stakes for the series’s end, fans have been waiting for years to see how it all ends. Let’s dive in and look at what is coming from The Duffer Brothers for the end of their iconic streaming series.

The last Stranger Things season dropped almost two years ago with many things changing for the Hawkins crew. The show’s fourth season had multiple storylines, including the demon Vecna which became a pop cultural phenomenon. With shooting delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, filming for season 5 began in January.
Ross Duffer, who is one-half of the creators The Duffer Brothers, shared more behind-the-scenes images of the production. The current batch of images has many allusions to Jonathan and Nancy. One image, in particular, seems to be haunting as Jonathan and Nancy look back at something sinister from Steve Harrington’s car.

This article contains spoilers through Stranger Things season 4 and The Walking Dead.
To kill or not to kill? This is the question so many shows with large ensemble casts wrestle with as the tensions rise and the stakes become fatal deeper into the series. The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones took great pleasure in cutting down leading players like blades of grass in the springtime sun. It kept viewers on their toes, but it also hindered the strength of the respective casts. When too many fan favorites are whacked, it tests the loyalty of the people watching at home and the skills of the writers and directors to form a coherent story with the crumbs that remain.
Stranger Things weighs in on the other end of the spectrum. The Duffer Brothers have kept essentially every cherished character locked into the show from the debut season to the most recent one.

An uncanny understanding of character dynamics and superior cast chemistry have made Stranger Things the defining science fiction drama of the last decade. Although fans love the special effects and evil enemies omnipresent in the series, showrunners the Duffer brothers have always grounded the story in character development. Mike’s (Finn Wolfhard) and Will’s (Noah Schnapp) potential romance, Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) backstory as a lab rat, and Hopper’s quest for fatherhood have all amalgamated into an irresistible mix of plotting that feels novelistic and addicting for viewers.
As the seasons have gone on, new characters have been introduced and pushed older favorites into the background. Steve Harrington started as a frenemy-style side character until Joe Keery’s banter with Gaten Matarazzo (who plays Dustin Henderson) forced him into the spotlight, even when other characters had to be sacrificed in his honor. If you’ve been on TikTok in the last few weeks, chances are you’ve heard Djo’s “End of Beginning,” a synth-heavy psychedelic track soaked in nostalgia.
But you may not know that the man behind Djo is none other than Joe Keery, best known for playing lovable jock Steve Harrington on Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” Keery has been releasing music under the moniker since 2019, but it wasn’t until last month that the sudden TikTok popularity of “End of Beginning” — a non-single track off his 2022 album “Decide” — took the musical project into the mainstream, with the song’s 2.2 million video creations on the app catapulting it to No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Keery says he wrote the song about his experience leaving Chicago — where he attended DePaul University and became embedded in the local indie-rock scene as an original member of the band Post Animal — to move to L.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year and is now three months into its twelve month shooting schedule… but in the midst of filming, Finn Wolfhard is also doing the press rounds to promote the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which is set to reach theatres on March 22nd. An interview with The Hollywood Reporter was part of his press tour, and during that conversation, Wolfhard was asked about the ongoing production of Stranger Things season 5, which will also be the final season of the show. Since this is how it wraps up, it seems fitting that Wolfhard said it will be a return of the dynamics of the first season.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year – and it’s going to continue making its way through production for quite a while longer, as new cast member Linda Hamilton has said that filming is going to take an entire year. So we’re not going to see this season, which is the final season of the show, until sometime in 2025… and star Millie Bobby Brown is looking forward to the premiere date with excitement, because she says the final episodes are going to be “unbelievable.”
Speaking with Screen Rant, Brown said, “There’s not much I can tease, but I know everybody’s super excited. I just think if you’ve loved the seasons before, you trust the Duffers. They’re geniuses, and they’ll bring it like no other.

When Joe Keery first moved to Chicago to attend DePaul University’s Theatre School, he had no idea what direction his life would take. After graduating in 2014, the Massachusetts native stuck around for three more years, working at a restaurant, getting small acting gigs, playing in his former band Post Animal, and moving from neighborhood to neighborhood.
“It was kind of whatever would hit first,” he recalls over coffee in the West Village. These days, Keery has settled down in downtown New York between shooting shows like Stranger Things and Fargo.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year – but if you were hoping that might mean the new episodes will be available to watch on Netflix by the end of 2024, or even at the beginning of 2025, new cast member Linda Hamilton is here to dash those hopes. While speaking to Business Insider, Hamilton said Stranger Things season 5 will be filming for an entire year!
Hamilton said, “It’s a year of shooting, so I couldn’t be happier. Their season takes a year to shoot, which is just an unheard-of luxury of time. But the size of their day is also so beyond any scale that we’re used to.“

Joseph Quinn quickly became a fan-favorite with his role as Eddie Munson in the fourth season of Stranger Things. The breakout performance landed many high-profile roles for the British actor, including his recent casting as Johnny Storm in The Fantastic Four. Quinn’s Stranger Things co-star and recent Bff, Joe Keery, learned about this casting midway through an interview and texted Quinn to congratulate him.

After watching him play the fan-favorite Steve Harrington for years in the pop-culture phenomenon that goes by the name of Stranger Things, you probably didn’t imagine you’d see Joe Keery as a simpleton with a heavy Southern accent. But Keir O’Donnell’s debut feature, titled Marmalade, clearly proves that Keery wants to break out of that image. His very recent role in the fifth season of Fargo can testify to that as well. And if his performance in Marmalade is anything to go by, then it can be said that Keery is very much on the right track.
I generally take pride in figuring out the twist beforehand in many films, but Marmalade has managed to beat me in that game. Neither me nor FBI agent Otis saw it coming, and that’s where the film wins. Initially appearing to be a run-of-the-mill heist thriller along the lines of Bonnie and Clyde,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Fargo Year 5, Episode 4, “Insolubilia.”] Fargo‘s fifth installment has already paid homage to Tim Burton‘s The Nightmare Before Christmas, but there’s a new homage breaking loose in the fourth episode as Joe Keery‘s Gator Tillman takes up a nail bat, a.k.a. zombie killer, a.k.a. Steve Harrington’s — his Stranger Things character — weapon of choice. Described as a zombie killer in this iteration, the nail bat isn’t strange to Keery, who has swung a similar deadly weapon more than once in the Netflix series, first and foremost to kill or attack the Demogorogon. But this time around, Keery’s character isn’t fighting any Demogorgons. Instead, his character, Gator, threatens Juno Temple‘s Dot Lyon. Sent to kidnap his father’s runaway bride, Dot has concocted a house of horrors (just in time for Halloween!) to try and deflect her would-be captors. Her...

Fargo‘s fifth installment is mere days away and as the FX favorite’s return looms so do new characters yet-to-be-met, such as Joe Keery‘s Gator Tillman. While fans may know him for his role as Steve Harrington in Stranger Things, the actor is branching out in a big way. Working closely with Jon Hamm who plays his Sheriff father, Roy Tillman in the 2019-set chapter, Keery dabbles with an interesting father-son dynamic. Visiting the Calgary-located set earlier this year, TV Insider got a peek behind the curtain in terms of what viewers can anticipate. “The particular father-son dynamic is another one of those very delicate balances tonally because I think there is a real specific kind of love that Roy has for his son,” Hamm teased at the time. “And yet there’s a different hierarchy that Roy tends to pay attention to as it goes with God and country,...

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was supposed to go into production right around the time the writers strike hit earlier this year – so it had to be put on hold, and then there was another reason for it to stay on hold when the actors strike hit. And now that the actors strike has come to an end, Stranger Things season 5 is finally about to head into production. Season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things is also going to be the final season of the show. It was supposed to be deep into production by now, but it has been slowed down due to the Hollywood strikes – first the writers strike, then the ongoing actors strike. It remains to be seen when filming is going to begin, but yesterday, November 6, 2023, was the 40th anniversary of the day Will Byers went missing in the town of Hawkins, Indiana in the first season of Stranger Things. So the show’s writers marked the occasion by sharing the first lines from the first episode of season 5 on social media:

“Stranger Things” will haunt viewers long after it has ended. Even the idea of it ending is tragically terrifying. Built on a sinister kidnapping of a young Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) in Season 1 and most recently filled out in terms of The Upside Down mythology in Season 4, complete with a slimy squelchy villain named Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), the Netflix series has no shortage of jump scares, creepy concepts and more.
Whether you’re a fan of graphic gory scenes or more psychologically thrilling moments, “Stranger Things” has four seasons’ worth of fright. Season 4 has been said to be the most scary, and the Duffer Brothers even listed “Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Hellraiser” as inspirations for the most recent season in contrast to the slightly more innocent “E.T.,” “Goonies” etc. for the earlier seasons, in which the kids were still actually kids.

Maya Hawke's portrayal of Robin Buckley, the quirky Hawkins teen who befriends Steve Harrington in the third season of "Stranger Things," quickly made her a fan favorite. As it turns out, Maya's foray into the Upside Down wasn't her intro to Hollywood, though; she's been around red carpet royalty her entire life. The 25-year-old actor is the child of two major stars: Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke.
Thurman is best known for her roles as Mia in "Pulp Fiction" and The Bride in "Kill Bill: Volume 1" and "Kill Bill: Volume 2." Meanwhile, Ethan is known for playing Jesse in the Before trilogy and starred in the June 2022 horror film "The Black Phone." The pair met on the set of "Gattaca" in 1996 and married in 1998. They had two children, Maya and Levon Hawke, before separating in 2003 and divorcing in 2005. Ethan later married Ryan Shawhughes, and the pair went on to have two daughters,...

A few months ago, it was announced that 10 Cloverfield Lane and Prey director Dan Trachtenberg will be directing an episode of Stranger Things season 5 – which also happens to be the final season of the hugely popular Netflix streaming series. That season was supposed to be deep into production by now, but has been delayed several months due to the writers and actors strikes. The writers strike recently ended, now we just need the actors strike to come to an end so Stranger Things can get rolling. While waiting for his chance to report to the Stranger Things set, Trachtenberg has been doing the press rounds to promote the physical media release of his Predator movie Prey… and during a conversation with Collider, he talked about signing on to bring an episode of Stranger Things to the screen and working with the show’s creators The Duffer Brothers.

Since before us lies such a long wait for the fifth and final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things — here’s one reason why — we’ve been biding our time thinking about what comes after. Series creators the Duffer Brothers have already said that they have one spinoff in mind. And we have another: a dramedy that follows Joe Keery’s Steve Harrington and Maya Hawke’s Robin Buckley as they settle into what passes for “normal” life in Hawkins post-Vecna crisis.

Steve Harrington really turned it around on Stranger Things, starting off as a typical bully who served as an antagonist to the more sympathetic Jonathan Byers. As seasons went on, he – and his portrayer, Joe Keery – became a fan favorite, proving a vital member of the Hawkins gang and one heck of an ice cream scooper. And as Stranger Things approaches (albeit slowly due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes), surely Steve Harrington and Joe Keery will be missed. In the meantime, Keery is prepping for the conclusion.
Speaking with Women’s Wear Daily, Joe Keery admitted that Stranger Things’ series finale is inevitable but will be a difficult sendoff for him. “It does feel like it’s time. It won’t be easy for it to end. I mean, I owe my whole career to being on that show and all the opportunities that I had...

Stranger Things star Joe Keery has “very convoluted” feelings about his time in Hawkins coming to an end.
During a recent interview with Women’s Wear Daily, conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike, the actor and musician said, “It does feel like it’s time” but “it won’t be easy for it to end.”
In 2016, Keery debuted his character Steve Harrington in season one of the hit Netflix series, which also stars Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin. Through the first four seasons, his character went from being the bad high school boy to a surprising ally to the main squad as they battle the terrifying world of the Upside Down.

Netflix's smash-hit "Stranger Things" will soon be coming to an end, with the fifth and final season continuing production once the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) provides a fair contract with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) to put an end to the current dual strike. Fans are used to waiting for new seasons of the sci-fi, horror, adventure series, but many are more impatient than usual after the heartbreaking events of season 4. The most recent season introduced a new character named Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), the misunderstood Dungeon Master of the Hellfire Club, the unofficial Dungeons and Dragons group of Hawkins High School.

This post contains spoilers for "Stranger Things" season 4.
"Stranger Things" fans know the drill by now. Whenever a quirky newcomer ingratiates them among the show's main group of characters, odds are it's only a matter of time before they're snuffed out in heartbreaking fashion. Bob Newby (Sean Astin)? The adorkable RadioShack man gets mauled to death by Demodogs while helping his girlfriend Joyce (Winona Ryder) rescue her son Will (Noah Schnapp). Dr. Alexei (Alec Utgoff)? We'd only just met the wide-eyed Cherry Slurpee-sipping Russian scientist when he was assassinated by his own people for helping the show's heroes.
As such, when season 4 ended with newbie Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) getting slaughtered by a pack of Demobats while simultaneously shredding Metallica's "Master of Puppets," well, it was sad for sure but far from a surprise. The offbeat, guitar-strumming, Dungeons & Dragons-playing high schooler spent most of the season on the...

Season 5 of the Netflix series Stranger Things – which also happens to be the final season of the show – was supposed to be a couple months into filming at this point. But production was delayed by the writers strike, then the writers were joined on the picket lines by members of the Screen Actors Guild. So it’s going to be a little while before this season finally gets up and running. While we wait for the strikes to be resolved, Stranger Things creators Duffer Brothers have gone ahead and revealed that the character of Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, will be taking center stage in this last season.
The first season of Stranger Things began with Will Byers disappearing into the twisted dimension known as the Upside Down. He eventually got out of there, but he has had plenty of troubles to deal with in the following seasons. Will...

Maya Hawke has some thoughts about where her character might be going in Stranger Things.
Over the course of season four of Netflix’s hit sci-fi series, Hawke’s Robin Buckley was crushing on Hawkins High’s marching band clarinetist Vickie (Amybeth McNulty). In the season finale, the two ladies were seen making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for those who were displaced by Vecna’s earthquakes.
The final scene teased there could be a relationship between the two looming, and Hawke isn’t sure how she feels about that. “I don’t know,” the Asteroid City actress told Yahoo! When Jamie Tartt was first introduced in Ted Lasso, he was nothing but an egomaniac. The character’s sole purpose in the show was to heckle everyone, including Coach Lasso. His only saving grace was possibly his footballing skill, which also failed to flourish properly due to his arrogance. He was a badly-behaved manchild, a terrible teammate, and an even more terrible boyfriend to Keeley Jones, who rightfully broke up with him. Even though former Richmond boss and Rebecca’s ex-husband Rupert Mannion was the main bad guy of the show, Jamie was like a sore thumb in an otherwise wholesome character dynamic in the show. Naturally, when he left for Manchester City after creating a lot of scenes, everyone at Richmond Fc as well as the audience were relieved.
