- (1965) Unsold pilot: Wrote the pilot for "Derwatt Resurrected," about fraud involving a painter who had died. It was never produced, but later served as a springboard for her novel "Ripley Under Ground" (1970).
- (1966) Unfinished project: Wrote a 93-page screenplay adaptation of her novel "Dark Water" for director Raoul Lévy. That film was never made because Levy committed suicide that same year. Fifteen years later, however, the novel was adapted to film as Deep Water (1981).
- (1977) Stage: Wrote the source material (short stories "The Terrapin", "When the Fleet Was In at Mobile") for "Belle Ombre" by Francis Lacombrade.
- (1976) Unsold pilot: Wrote a synopsis for a one-hour television drama, "The Adventuress," for director Joseph Losey, but the project was never completed.
- (1977) Unfinished project: Thames Television commissioned a TV drama, but her two-hour, four-episode script was rejected, prompting her comment, "It's just one of those things, just as some people can't swim for some mysterious reason."
- (1964) Novel: "The Two Faces of January" (filmed as Die zwei Gesichter des Januar (1986)).
- (1942-48) Working in both New York and Mexico, she wrote a considerable amount of material for comic books, earning $55 a week and often turning out two stories a day. For Nedor/Standard/Pines, in 1942-43, she wrote for "Black Terror" and did Sgt. Bill King stories. For "True Comics," "Real Fact" and "Real Heroes," she did pictorial profiles of Barney Ross, Eddie Rickenbacker, Albert Einstein, Oliver Cromwell, Sir Isaac Newton, Galileo, Dr. David Livingstone and others. In 1943-45 she contributed to Fawcett, writing stories for Golden Arrow, Spy Smasher, Captain Midnight, Crisco & Jasper and others. She wrote for the publisher Western Comics in 1945-47.
- (1986) Unfinished project: David Sherwin wrote an eight-page treatment of her "The Boy Who Followed Ripley" for producer Joseph Janni. She described this treatment as only "so-so." Problems with financing stalled the project, and the film was not made.
- (1983) Unfinished project: She signed a contract for a Goldcrest / HBO production of her novel "The Blunderer" to star John Hurt as Walter Stackhouse and Mario Adorf as Melchior Kimmel. The novel was first filmed in 1963, and for a screenwriter of the new version, she suggested Marc Brandel, who had scripted "The Talented Mr. Ripley" in 1956 for Studio One (1948). Brandel did a first draft which HBO rejected. The deal with HBO dissolved, but in 1985, she gave Brandel a personal check for $8000. He wrote the screenplay in 1986, and another producer signed on. The project collapsed in 1988, and the film was never made.
- (1974) Unfinished project: Director Joseph Losey took an interest in adapting her novel "The Tremor of Forgery" (1969). The project was never developed, but it led to her friendship with Losey and his wife, writer-producer Patricia Losey.
